First track on her debut album is Oscar Winning Tears but the best version of it is the one she did live at the Royal Albert Hall with full orchestra and choir, it's completely like a movie soundtrack and her vocals are epic you have to watch it, it's a must see
as someone from London, this song hits sooooo hard for me because she's talking specifically about the UKs current issues in the 3rd section. this is pretty much the first song ive heard that genuinely explains how we all feel to a T. I rate raye so much. Glad u loved it, Steven, have a great day!!!
She did actually release this as one song, but then later on streaming you can just have Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3, separately. I think this is a marvelous display of her talents and a beautiful little follow-up to her marvelous debut.
RAYE's “My 21st Century Blues“ is one of the best album i ever heard. Its worth to listen to it and you will not be disappointed. Hope you have a good day💜
OMG, FINALLY! I’ve been waiting months for you to react to RAYE 😅. Her music and voice are so rich that I was excited for a music lover like you to hear her music. Enjoy the RAYE ride: she’s hands down one of the bests artists of this generation 🙂. Please watch the whole BBC concert at the Royal Albert Hall (you can through a VPN). It doesn’t even matter of you react to it. Just soak in the wonderful experience: it’s an unforgettable one 🤗
RAYE has been in the industry for several years but was signed to a record label that was restrictive so most of her music for them was Dance tracks with various djs, to get an overview of those listen to her Radio One Weekend Dance Mashup on RU-vid, she broke from her label two years ago. Releasing her debut album last year that won her six Brit Awards the UKs equivalent of Grammys and is just going from strength as an independent artist now as people discover her
so love this, I am so happy you got to see our Raye!! Whole album is amazing, sends you on a journey for sure, speaks some serious truths on many subjects so raw and tragedy but shedding a spotlight for so many to speak on and not leave in the shadows so important always but more so today :-)
Hey Steven, I'm new to your channel, you left a very good impression with your very first encounter with RAYE, subbed for more. RAYE released two versions of her debut album, a studio version which is called "My 21st Century Blues" and a live recording with orchestra and choir which goes by "My 21st Century Symphony". Both are great for what they are, great production and vocal layering on the studio version, incredible energy, arrangement and background vocals with the live version. The album opener is called "Oscar Winning Tears", you should definitely watch her do that one live at Royal Albert Hall... another great live performance was her medley at the Brit Awards this year, she won in six categories (more than Adele or anyone else ever achieved in one year...). Generally I recommend to watch her live, yet a full album review is a good idea, so you get to know all of the songs and have a reference when watching her perform them live... She loves music, and she loves surprises, so you might get a rock version of a song in one set and a bossa nova version of that same song the next evening, her versatility is crazy... Can't wait for your next reaction to her, peace and love from BavaRAYEa!
Thank you for making a reaction video that is authentic…every other one I’ve watched it just feels like everyone’s trying so hard to be deep that they are missing the actual masterpiece that is this song and video!
OMG! I was waiting for this reaction from a long time. I was needed your reaction to RAYE. She is the most talented artist in the industry right now. I’m very happy for this reaction, Tnx 🥹
I just got into Raye recently and her debut album 21st century blues is so amazing. The orchestra versions she did at the Royal Albert Hall were insane as well both worth checking out!!
Saw her for the first time live last week at Zurich Open Air festival and my GOD she has stage presence. An hour long set that had perfect vocals and energy all throughout
You would loveeeeeee her album "My 21st Century Blues", its one of my favorite albums EVER. sooooo good, 0 skips, each song gives you a different vibe!!!!
I’m so glad you’re reacting to Raye! She was in a horrible, restrictive contract with a major record label for SEVEN YEARS. She was good enough to write for the label’s other artists like Beyoncé but they didn’t deem her good enough to release the music she actually wanted to release. They made her make quick dance tracks that would get easy returns on investment but nothing else. She finally got out of the contract, went independent, and released her debut album (which she’d been wanting to release for 7 years) “My 21st Century Blues”. It’s a masterpiece and she broke several records at the Brit Awards, including most nominations in a single night (7), and most wins in a single night (6, including Album of the Year, Best Writer, and Best New Artist). She seems incredibly brave, lovely, humble, and beautifully vulnerable. She’s gone through a lot of trauma and seeing her finally achieving her dreams, as her own boss, is incredible. 🥹❤ P.s. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again; You doubt yourself a lot on your ability to interpret lyrics and song meanings. I think you are wonderful at it and I think you were absolutely spot on with your analysis of this song. Thank you for your time, effort, honesty, and willingness to be vulnerable, Steven. It’s so appreciated. I hope you know that. Take care. ❤❤❤
You should definitely react to her album... With jazz, r&b, hip-hop and more she touches on oppression, substance abuse, SA and body image issues.. she's a genius
