I can't express how grateful I am that you guys are making this game happen! I literally teared up when I first came across your work and I really appreciate it. Rayman 2 is really close to my heart, having played it as a kid on the Nintendo 64 and later on the PS2 The nostalgia is strong on this one. I believe that you guys feel the same way, that is why you are doing this after all. The music you have showcased so far is exceptional and it really sticks with the Rayman atmosphere. Having said all this, I feel that my dream of replaying my childhood game remastered will not be 100% granted. That is because of the music. Eric Chevalier's music is so iconic to me. Even today sometimes I just listen to the music while working... Even though your music team is obviously very talented and respectful of the original score, the music it's just not the same. This isn't a matter of better or worst, it's just that it is not the same music I was enjoying when I was a little kid in front of the TV. Could it be possible to switch between old and new music in the game settings? Just a suggestion. I don't mean any disrespect. This is just some honest feedback from someone who grew up loving this game. Keep up the good work guys! I can't wait to spend hours on your game :)
We've decided to go with a new original soundtrack because our goal with Rayman 2 HD is to make a reimagined game instead of a simple remastered version using assets from the original game. Therefore we make all content from scratch, and we think that a new soundtrack also contributes to that. For that reason we're not considering an in -game switch to change to the original music. Trust us that we're doing our best to make the music the best we can while staying true to the original!
@@danaedekker You guys really cant image how grateful we are to you guys. Re-living your childhood is so so special for us. the word are just not enough thank you guys. @epsilon im 100% agreeing with you too. The only part is the PS1 version was my childhood thats why i love the voice acting in it.
@danaedekker 100% respectable decision. I'd love to see you guys' take while maintaining some original elements, which are definitely present here. It's all about enhancing the experience, and that takes renewal as well, right? As long as the direction stays intact
As already mentioned in the Discord server, absolutely love how the composition somehow tends to combine more or less all the versions of the original! 😎 Needless to say, we’re so looking forward for further updates, especially regarding the artistic and three-dimensional assets of this upcoming remake… 🤩
Its different yet familiar, i like it!!!! Might take some getting used to, but i LOVE how yall are reimagining things and not just updating everything to HD
Ahh I love it! Hearing small dabs of mixes reminding me of Rayman, ly, the pirates. It totally blends well. You’re getting us with these dripfeeds of teases!
That’s perfect for a Main Menu theme if you ask me. A taste of the different vibes in the game you’re about to play. I’m pretty sure that’s the intention
I don't mind the "lack of tonal cohesion" because there was a little bit in the original main theme too. Maybe it could be adjusted to not make it sound too abrupt. Anyway great job 👍🏻
Hey New Dawn Games. Can you and your friends create more cutscenes like the story including the new prologue, which is added, to consist with The Pirate Ships entering to capture and enslave the loving residents of the planet, volunteers entering the area to fight off the warriors, Rayman and Globox enter the forest to battle the pirates, Rayman being interrupted by Ly during the battle and realizing the Heart of the World being broken and his getting captured, Rayman gasping and getting caught by Ninjaws, and attempting to create a new energy sphere, but gasping: "Oh no! My powers! What will I do?!" when realizing that the Destruction of the World's Heart has taken all of his powers away, Rayman telling Globox to run and save himself to find Ly, Globox saying: "Okay, Rayman. If you say so, I'll try." and obeying and running off, Rayman meeting Admiral Razorbeard and finding someway to escape and planning to make Razorbeard wish he would never have been born, Razorbeard saying: "You know what? That's good! Now let's have at it! Take him away, Ninjaws!", Globox running to a horse pulling a barge with his wife, Uglette, aboard it, dragging it to a town centre, hopping off to borrow a car with the owners having lunch, driving it to a railroad station, crashing the car, getting out, disguising himself as a hobo, entering the booking office, trying to pay for a ticket, only to realize he has no money, walking away along the platform to meet a train hauled by an American 4-4-0 tender engine No. 57 pulling a yellow mail car, green mail car, an orange mail car, a blue mail car, and a caboose, and being piloted by a driver, fireman, cleaner, shunter, and signalman ready to operate, Globox telling them he's a lonely hobo, losing all his money, not able to get a ticket, and needing to get home tonight, boarding the engine's cabin, driving off with the crew on board the train to help him escape, night falling with the train chugging along with the workers stoking the boiler, opening the furnace, and operating the controls, Globox noticing the five workers leaning over the side of the engine, joining them to see a pursuing Baldwin 2-6-0 tender locomotive No. 72 running light and carrying the pirate pursuers aboard and waving weapons and telling them to stop the train and wanting Globox and forbidding them to escape and trying to get them, kneeling and telling the crew to save him and pretending to be a hobo in disguise, explaining the truth about himself being Globox, Rayman's best friend, and having Uglette, his wife, and 650 kids be his family, having escaped the pirates, who had kidnapped Rayman, are attemping to speed up, and are trying to capture him, but are also giving him some chains, bread, water, and, misery for him and poor miserable innocent Rayman, the engine crew deciding to help him escape, speeding their train, stoking the furnace, running through a long tunnel, shooting out the other side, crossing a viaduct next to the woods, reducing steam, braking hard, sending Globox jumping off the train by leaping out of the engine's cab, diving into the woods, leaving his train to disappear with the pursuing locomotive running in hot pursuit and the motley pirate crew waving their weapons and all shouting: "STOP! STOP THAT TRAIN! WE WANT GLOBOX! YOU'LL NEVER ESCAPE! SO JUST STOP THE TRAIN, AND YEAH, WE'LL GET YOU!", causing Globox to laugh at the sight of the train chase, entering a hollow tree to find Ly, getting a silver lum from her, walking into Spyglass Pirate's sack, which catches and ties him up, leaving Spyglass Pirate to laugh and drag him to the prison boat, which will take Globox to the prison ship to meet Rayman, because Rayman Redemption is created, New Dawn Games, my friend.
0:39 my eyes widened, did a lil Jim Halpert gleam. 0:50 hit and I just smiled. Stopped the video and just had to write that out. Just finishing it, hooooly moly. Dude, you have that fabled "*it*" because that RULED
First time hearing about this project. It sounds really good, but just a question: is there a possibility to include the original OST in this fan remake? Thanks and keep it up.
@@danaedekker oh thank you for answering my question. It's not to uncredit the OST from your team. It was just a curiosity. Still, that OST is very nostalgic yet very modern. Great job on this and can't wait to try the demo of this remake later this year.
I swear its amazing how you guys keep the spirit and feeling of the original and just add your own nuance to it. If thats how the whole game is gonna be... Well itl be my game of the year whenever it comes out. I wish you guys lots of great hours while making this game. Best wishes from a german Rayman enthusiast 🔥
We've done extensive research on what makes the Rayman 2 soundtrack sound like the Rayman 2 soundtrack, and we think the instrumentation and motifs in this one in particular are the sweet spot between being the original and sounding too foreign. If you have specific remarks, feel free to shoot us a message!
@danaedekker the vibe feels completely off from the original. It feels like the general tone is all over the place and goes from serious to whimsical to serious in a way too abrupt fasion. This isn't prog rock, it's a title screen for a video game (I'm a huge prog fan, but there's a time and a place for it. It doesn't feel appropriate here) Part of why the original works for me is the instruments they selected to play the short melody, and the length of the melody. The loop is only about 15 to 20 seconds, which is just long enough to where it never gets annoying but isn't way too much to digest musically. The melody being played by the instruments chosen for it keeps it from sounding like a generic orchestra arrangement while keeping it sounding mysterious and intriguing, all while staying fun and catchy. What you guys did here is way more complex than I think it should be for a song that's supposed to be catchy, and the instrumentation just feels like I'm sitting in a diverse Orchestra. It's definitely just as creative as the original track, but it feels like it is for all the wrong reasons. Over all I think you guys could benefit more from studying the specific track you're trying to recreate more rather than studying the entire soundtrack as a whole and going from there. And if you're already doing that, maybe focus more on why certain instruments were chosen for what, and why certain tracks are as long as they are before looping. I think theres some room to play with on the length of the loop, but they should never be over twice the length of the original. Maybe more experimentation should be done in general before just committing to a track that sounds way too far removed from the original. And if you're already doing all of those things, I'm not sure what else can be done. Hope that everything I said makes sense and isn't too out there. I really appreciate what you guys are doing and I can tell the people in charge of the soundtrack are extremely passionate about it. I just think the approach might be all wrong and it would be a shame if the entire soundtrack was as far removed from the original as this is.
