Thanks Jim for the product support. This video was so helpful especially as you go through the actual steps as a tutorial on how to just makes your streams so good. I just received my boat with new raymarine axiom 2 sounder, radar, vhf so please keep this information going as I learn so much. Also why can't I download this live session as I regularly go into areas of no signal and like to watch these over to get those gold nuggets I missed. Thankyou.

Hi Jim..Today I finally got to my boat and tried connecting a cheap bluetooth mouse to my hybrid touch axiom 9 running the last but one lighthouse 4 software as you showed in your excellent show. It found and paired fine but did not show as a connected device like screenshot you showed. There was no mouse pointer displayed either so I am wondering if there is another menu option somewhere to actually connect it as a device.... I was really hoping this option would work as the plotter touch screen is a good stretch from the helm and this would be a really convenient feature. The bt mouse worked on my android phones and tablet but not the Axium....any ideas would be gratefuly received...thanks.

@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Hello Roger. Double-check that your mouse was in pairing mode, and Axiom was in discovery mode. On Axiom go to Home, then tap on the status bar at the top right, and select Bluetooth Devices. If Bluetooth on Axiom is disabled, turn it on. It should begin discovering nearby devices within a few seconds. On your mouse, press whatever button it requires to get it into pairing mode. The mouse should appear in the list of nearby devices, and then you select it to pair it to Axiom. We're not doing anything unusual with regard to the mouse/keyboard Bluetooth connection. If it doesn't show up, all I can really suggest is trying a different one.

I am having the same issue. I have two Axiom chart plotters, both with freshly updated software (one at helm and one at nav station). I can pair a mouse to either one (I only need it at the nav station, but tried it at the helm to see if it was just the one chart plotter) but neither one does anything after they have paired. I have tried four different BT mice (2 Logitech MX anywhere’s, a brand new Logi M240, and a new cheap Target BT 5.1 mouse. All will pair, but none will do anything once paired. Any help would be appreciated.

Any chance that Raymarine will allow the Axioms to work like a regular client on the wifi so I can connect to my Axiom without having to switch networks to access my axiom from my iPad?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Hello Pierre. There is a firewall on Axiom's Wi-Fi to prevent an external device from gaining access to the internals of Axiom through the Wi-Fi access point. I think that is why you need to change networks for your situation. One way around this is to add our YachtSense Link Marine 4G router to your network. It creates a unified network onboard the boat with a single Wi-Fi network for all devices. Axiom is connected through the wired network to the router. The router creates a single SSID for all devices needing wireless access onboard the boat. The router can then automatically shift the internet traffic between 4G wireless internet, home or marina Wi-Fi, or a satellite-based system as needed to maintain connectivity. The Raymarine App has the ability to perform all of its functions through the router including mirroring and remote control, remote data access, and even some digital switching control.

@@RaymarineInc Thank you for the reply. Many of your customers have wifi networks on their boats that aren't the Yachtsense, for example Starlink or other devices that pre-dated the release of YachtSense. It would be really nice to allow the axiom devices to join non-Raymarine wifi networks.

Is there any way to actually rearrange the home screen icons with LH 4 ???
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc Месяц назад
The home screen icons can be individually edited, but unfortunately not re-arranged. To move an icon from one location on the grid to another, the only way to do so is to actually re-build it in the new location, then delete or edit the prior one in the old location. You can edit any home screen icon by long-pressing and selecting Edit or Customize (terminology varies slightly by software level.) This will open the icon wizard where you can select full or split layouts, then assign apps to each window pane, then finally give that icon a standard or custom name. We do have a feature request into the product team for drag-and-drop rearrangement of the icons. I'll add your vote in favor of adding it as a new feature in a future release.

I was told Miracast will connect to some highend Hearing Aid and send audio.
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Hello Donald. Probably not Miracast, but instead Bluetooth. Many of the newer hearing aids also support Bluetooth audio which allows you to hear your phone, music, or in this case Axiom, through your hearing aids. Miracast is typically used for streaming video content, though sometimes it is used in conjunction with a Smart TV to send it audio content only like streaming music, streaming radio or a podcast.

Is it possible to use Mercruiser Veselview app on Axiom 9? I have Mercuiser Veselview mobile conneted to Engine.
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Axiom is compatible with Mercury engines, however there is a specific piece of hardware from Mercury required to make it work. Unfortunately the VesselView mobile gateway won't work for this application. For connection to Raymarine systems Mercury requires the use of the SmartCraft Connect gateway. When that piece of hardware is installed, it brings to live the Mercury Marine app on Axiom. You can get the details on the SmartCraft Connect gateway here: www.mercurymarine.com/us/en/gauges-and-controls/displays/smartcraft-connect

Hi Jim. Loved this wireless episode and have been using a lot of the tools for a while. 2 questions, semi related. I’ve noticed some Axioms have access to different apps. I have a 7 and a 12+ and would like to add the windy and predict weather apps but don’t see them. Is there a portal for those, or can you send me where to find?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Hello John. The pre-loaded apps do vary a bit, split between the 1st generation Axiom products and 2nd generation products. Older Axioms have less built-in storage memory than newer ones have so we only pre-load a handful of the most popular applications to save space. You can download the Windy and PredictWind apps from Raymarine.com here: www.raymarine.com/en-us/our-products/digital-boating/lighthouse-apps Save the files to an SD card and plug it into Axiom. Go to Home...Apps..Install from SD, and browse to the app file. Axiom will install it. You can remove the SD card once the app is installed. I do recommend keeping a backup copy of the app on that card just in case you need to reset an Axiom or update its software in the future. You'll need to re-install it in either of those situations.

Hi Chris. When the Navionics app detect the Raymarine Axiom, the sync starts automatically. There is a momentary popup, then the popup disappears. Hi my friend, Congratulation for your channel for us. How can I make the routes on the GPS, so that it takes me to those destinations, for example, St Thomas to Virgin Island? I'm new to this using the reymarine Thanks Carlos i use my boat in Puerto Rico caribbean.
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Hello Carlos. If you have Navionics charts in your plotter you can use their dock-to-dock autorouting and it will built the route for you. It requires that you have up-to-date charts that are subscribed to their Freshest Data update subscription. The first year is included when you purchase a chart from Navionics. To create a route simply find your destination on the chart. Long-Press on the destination, select MORE from the popup menu, then AUTO ROUTE TO HERE. The Navionics algorithm will plot a route from your location to that destination. Before you follow it, I do always recommend visually checking the route it has created just to be certain is has not routed you across land or through shallows.

Hey Jim. Sorry for the thread creep, but I can't seem to find your e-mail. I know you check here often so I have a question... Current system is 2 Axiom+ units, P70Rs, RMK-10. Just added a RNS-5 to network it all together, and introduce a Lumitec Poco controller to the network so lighting can be controlled on the plotters via the Lumitec app. Running Lighthouse 4.6.148. I noticed that the Lumitec App is no longer present on the plotter with the update above. The Poco hardware is connected to, and recognized on the network at this point. How do I get the app onto the plotters? I did plenty of searching online, with no help. Thanks in advance... JW
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc День назад
No problem! Glad to help. The Lumitec Poco app actually lives inside the Poco controller module. When Axiom sees that device on the network, it presents a shortcut to the app. It seems like your Axiom is not seeing the module. First, lets see if it is being detected at all. On your Axiom if you go to Home...Settings...Network, and the lighting controller should be listed on that tab along with other networked products. It will also report there the firmware version that is installed in the lighting controller. Check to see what yours has, if listed. I do have a note from our QA team that there was an occasional glitch with Poco controller versions prior to 3.7 that would sometime cause a loss of connection. If yours has a version lower than 3.7, please update it. If you are not seeing the controller listed at all on Axiom's Network list please double-check your Ethernet connection between the lighting controller and the network switch. The app itself will show up in the LightHouse Apps main menu (Home...Apps) or you can program it to appear alongside other apps or as its own home screen tile. Long-press on any home screen tile and select Customize. That will lead you to the editor where you can choose between full or split screen layouts, and then assign apps to the tiles. When detected, the Lumitec App should appear in that list along with the traditional apps like chart, sonar, radar, etc.

Love the feature with the wireless BT mouse, the zoom feature is the most used. but I got to ask. Why have you made the zoom function on the scroll wheel opposite of what’s “normal” on the computer. On my Axiom I zoom in when scrolling down, and zoom out when scrolling up. That’s the opposite of what I do on my laptop. Very irritating and confusing to be honest

Can you add Axiom via Seatalk HS, with an existing E120 and digital radar dome?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc Месяц назад
Unfortunately, no. The Axiom-series chartplotters, being over 12 years newer, have very significant differences in their software, features and communications capabilities that makes them incompatible with the E120 from the E-Series Classic model lineup. If you have a digital radar scanner now, that scanner is compatible with the new Axiom display, but it can't be simultaneously connected to both the new and old chartplotters. You would need to remove the E120 from the network, or replace it with another Axiom-series model.

Hello, can you talk in your videos about the integration of on element 12 HV with AIS-350 explaining all what we need, (cables, antenna, radio, accessories, connectors, etc...) for this connection, plus using the HS-300 for a trawler boat displacement hull like sea horse diesel duck 380? And the Quantum will can communicate with the element inside the pilot house (+- 4 meter distance from outside), thank you and sorry about my English.
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Thanks for watching! To interface an Element 12 HV with an AIS350 receiver you will also need to purchase a SeaTalk NG Starter Kit (T70134) which has all the cables you'll need to connect them together. The HV300 transducer is the through-hull, HyperVision transducer for Element. It comes with a fairing block that you can cut to fit the deadrise angle of your hull so it sits level. The Quantum radar connects with the Element using Wi-Fi and should be able to connect reliably at that distance.

Hi Jim, I am in the UK can I update my charts as I have UK and France from my phone on Lighthouse? And thank you for the great show
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Hello David. European Navionics charts can be updated from your Smartphone through the Navionics Boating app just like here in the USA. Both your copy of their app, and the chart chip itself do need to have a valid "Freshest Data" subscription for it to work. If by chance your card is not subscribed I believe the app will detect it and give you the option to renew it right there. Navionics charts come with 1-year of updates when you purchase them, and then you can renew on a yearly basis afterwards for a fee. Raymarine's LightHouse Charts can also be updated using your phone and the Raymarine app. In the Raymarine app you'll log in and select the tab called Management....Charts. There you'll see any LightHouse Charts you have activated. You can download updates to your phone, then transfer them to the Axiom when you get to the boat. I will caution you that this method does require you to download some fairly large files to your mobile phone, so consider the cost both in storage space and data charges before you try it. For example the Great Britain and Ireland LightHouse chart download is about 2.0 GB of data. When Axiom prompts you to scan a QR code with the phone's camera you'll go to Home...My Files...browse to the LightHouse Chart card and touch the file for LightHouse_ID.txt. A QR code pops up onscreen to scan. Follow the prompts on your phone to move the files to Axiom.

Hey Jim, was wondering if raymarine and mercury were working together to get some more customizability to the vessel view app?
@RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
The Mercury app as it appears in Axiom is designed and implemented to Mercury's specifications. There really isn't much latitude for Raymarine to customize it . That app, through their SmartCraft Connect gateway black box, is fully certified to be the ONLY engine gauge on a Mercury engine system. For that reason Mercury wants it to strictly conform to their specifications for appearance, layout, controls, data options, alarms and diagnostics. If you think something is missing or could be improved, I'm happy to submit a feature request through our engineering team. We have a group that works directly with Mercury and I am sure they'd be willing to take a look at it. Feel free to email me at james.mcgowan@raymarine.com

The Navionics Boating App is looking for a Navionics map card to sync with. Do make sure you have a Navionics chart inserted. On the Axioms go to Home...Settings...This Display. I mentioned during the show that my narrow swipe out data bar will never go away. Can you assist? When I swipe it away, it comes back after a couple of seconds and stays visible, in the way of numerous items on the chart or sonar screens. It is NOT pinned, but it never goes away. I have pinned / un-pinned it many times and it still will not stay away for good. Are you able to assist with this? I've called Tech Support a couple of times and even did a factory reset on my unit. @RaymarineInc
@RaymarineInc 2 месяца назад
Hello Alan. The sidebar should disappear if you push it back in towards the edge of the screen. There are 2 "stops" as you pull out or push in. At the 1st stop it shows just the data bar in use. At the 2nd stop it also shows the menu of other data bars you can choose from. If you have an Axiom Pro, Axiom 2 Pro, or any other Axiom with an RMK-10 keypad, the shortcut button can be programmed to show or hide the sidebar. If you have one of those, by any chance is the button stuck on the keypad? If the data bar is randomly opening and closing on its own, it seems to me like a false-touch might be triggering it. On Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom XL and Axiom 2 XL units there is a grounding point on the back of the display that specifically improves the grounding to the touch controls. Frequent false touches can occur on boats where there is a high level of RF noise onboard and that extra strap is not connected. That might be a consideration to check. Otherwise you may want to consider having the Axiom looked at by our service center to see if there is some other touchscreen fault going on. If this is something you could video for me, please feel free to get a short clip and email it to me at james.mcgowan@raymarine.com so I can see what its doing. I'd also be happy to send you more detail and a diagram describing that extra grounding point.

No. With all of the Evolution-series autopilots you will use the EV-1 sensor core that comes with the system. The EV-1 sensor core is not only the compass sensor, it is also the course computer and brain of the autopilot. It is much more accurate than the Raytheon fluxgate compass you have now. The EV-1 contains a sensor pack called an Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) that measures motion in 3-dimensions. It is that combination of sensors that allows the Evolution autopilot to steer so accurately, and also be self-calibrating.

Apologies...somehow I pasted the wrong answer in here. If your mobile device won't remain connected to Axiom, you may need to change a setting in the Wi-Fi configuration of your device. On Android phones and tablets in particular, they are configured to always be looking for a network connection with Internet access available. When you connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot like on Axiom and there is no internet, they will disconnect after a short while and look for another network. On many models there is a switch to turn this off in the advanced Wi-Fi settings. Some devices will also randomize their MAC address, instead of using their actual MAC address. Turning this feature off can also help with the connection stability.

You can stream and remote control your Axiom using the Raymarine app. Get it here (free) on the iTunes App store: apps.apple.com/us/app/raymarine/id1502278726 On Axiom you'll need to setup its Wi-Fi access point. Go to Home...Settings...This Display. Scroll down to the Wi-Fi Sharing section. Turn on the switch to "allow devices to connect via Wi-Fi Next to WiFi connection settings, touch Configure. Setup a memorable Wi-Fi name and passphrase using the controls there, or, write down the defaults and use them. On your iPad go you Settings....Wi-Fi. iPad scans for nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. Select the Wi-Fi name from the list that you just setup on the Axiom. Touch it to connect and enter the passphrase from Axiom. Once it connects, launch the Raymarine App. After a brief introduction you'll get to the main screen where you'll see the option for Screen Mirroring. Touch it and you'll see Axiom on on your iPad. You can touch and control it here just the same as if you were working on the Axiom itself.

1st generation Axiom 7, 9 and 12-inch models have less onboard storage memory than the Axiom+ and Axiom 2 models have now. Depending on how much information you have stored in your 1st gen Axiom it may need additional space to successfully complete a software update using Wi-Fi. Space is required to download the update files, unpack them, and then serve them out to itself and other devices on the network. If there is a SD card plugged into Axiom, even including your map card, Axiom will make use of the extra storage space on the card to temporarily store the downloaded file and unpack it. When it completes updating it will remove the download from the card to give you the space back. If you have more than one older Axiom, and the remote displays do not have SD cards plugged in, they may run out of space when trying to process the update. Plugging any SD card with suitable storage space (about 2 to 4 GB, or more) will give it the storage it needs to complete the update.
