TV Show "security" with guns all in a crossfire with each other that would become a keystone kops circular firing squad if they actually had to pull the trigger.
@@Zuloff a man walks slowly away from the counter, starts to undress It always annoyed me that noone reacted prior to the alarm Still what a fking Opening to a series
It somehow communicates he's in absolute control even as he literally gives up all control to the FBI. He even takes off his coat so he doesn't damage it
@@tedparkinson2033 He's also taking his coat off to make it more obvious he's not hiding any weapons and they don't shoot him because his coat shifted. He knows he's dealing with trigger happy grunts looking for an excuse to riddle him with bullets.
Raymond Reddington is on my all time great characters list. He’s complex, well read, kind and full of crazy stories, while being incredibly devious, one step ahead and totally ambiguous about whether he’s an evil , sociopathic mastermind, or a loving father with a deeply subtle awareness of ethics, who is just immersed in a spy vs spy world where the craziest decisions are necessary and unavoidable.
Equalled only by Lost. They're on the beach with a wrecked plane around them (we don't know why) and a random man gets sucked into the still spinning plane engine.
I like how the alarm goes off before everything locks down so he could have sprinted out the door if he wanted to. I also love how the guards stand directly in each other's line of fire.
I love how he’s always so dramatic, surrendering on the emblem of the FBI 😂 James Spader made this character great, just like Johnny D did to Jack Sparrow
No , she was the most important character in fact when she left the show , the show lost the plot ( the Connection between him and Liz ) and was ruined
Reddington is one of the greatest characters of all time and it’s only possible because of Spader’s portrayal. The show as whole though, leaves a lot to be desired. A few seasons in and it became glaringly obvious that there was no endgame or even an idea of how to end things. A tight 5-6 seasons with a clear, plausible explanation for who red is and a neatly wrapped up version for how his story ends (or doesn’t), could have made this show one of the greatest of all time. Instead we got loops of contrived identities, pointless shadow organizations/enemies, and one of the most frustrating characters of all time in Liz.
Yeah, I stopped watching after 5 seasons. It was pretty good in 1-3, at season 4 I was suspecting the writers had no idea where they were going, after season 5 it was just a soap opera with variations on the same plot repeating over and over.
This show drove me crazy. Great main character, but then what does the FBI do? Oh, here's a wanted criminal, armed and dangerous. Let's send a couple of agents. Gah! You call *everyone* and carpet bomb the area with feds, SWAT, whatever it takes. It's not like they have anything better to do than catch someone on the most wanted list.
Just imagine the first group of gaurds... "Free...wait, he froze already..." "Put your han....well, his hands are already up..." "Get down on...he's already on the ground, jesus christ..." "Fuck, this is anticlimatic..."
Someone should have told the actors about gun safety. Finger on the trigger, pointed at the head without any signs of threat. Jeez. I get it … hollywood but still.
@@Slithermotion It could be argued that Reddington was flagged as such a high risk suspect that there was a shoot to kill order on him if he resisted arrest. But yeah, certainly not the first time tv/movies didn't get gun handling right.
It was in those few moments, that one scene, Raymond Reddington took possession of my mind. Kneeling on the FBI seal, fingers locked behind his head, he took possession of all the more physically active parts of me. I WAS LOST FOREVER to this man!!!
Nah, Riddler has to have a funny side, like Jim Carrey portrayed him. Ultron was the perfect comic book villain to be played by Spader. I wouldn't know who else could fit the bill. Cold-hearted, rational to a deathly extent, well-spoken and to the point.
(SPOILERS ALERT) Actually I think the death of Elisabeth is a good ending, but personally I really disliked seasons 7 and 8 so yeah, I think it should have ended in season 6 (and also in my opinion season's 6 explanation of who Reddington is was much better that the whole season 8 "he is katarina" story, although I think both stories have flaws)
@@laidamaria_ My thoughts Exactly. The series should’ve just stick with Raymond actually being Katarina’s childhood friend Ilya Koslov and should’ve ended at season 6 with Raymond/Ilya reuniting with a present day Katarina.
although I have to say I enjoyed the last season bc there was no Elisabeth in it. Unpopular opinion (or perhaps not) but I couldn’t stand her. She always acted like a 5-year-old who couldn’t take no for an answer.
This is just phenomenal. I have seen movie scenes that are really brilliant like the John Wick's introduction but this, is just SICK. Raymond Reddington is just something else.
Totally agree. He should win another Emmy for this role already. I think his talent and skills are for an Oscar if he decides to return to the big screen again with a main role. He has the same talent as Denzel Washington in my opinion. Love both.
0:36 - Name: Raymond Reddington. Day of birth: 02.07.60. Last known address: Unknown. Charge: Escaping trough Stargate, espionage :D Status: Arrest on sight
only problem i have with this scene is that you would NEVER surround a suspect like that, you're literally putting yourself in each others line of fire
But when you’re watching the show for the first time and you see that scene, it certainly makes an impression of what’s going on and I really need to continue watching.
The start of this series was a thing of beauty. right from the off you were hooked and great casting for Reddington, Cooper & Restler right off the bat
The dude legit has time to put his stuff down, position himself on the FBI logo and legit put his hands behind his head as if he planned the whole thing. LEGENDARY!!!!
He did plan the whole thing. Red kept saying that what he values above of else is loyalty. We keep seeing how he was the most loyal person in this entire show. No matter what Elizabeth did and how much she betrayed, he stayed loyal to her. Pisses me off.
It sits differently with you after watching the first 3 seasons. All of this, the surrender, the torture, the risk.... all of this he did for his Lizzie. We love you, Red.
Probably the one man on earth that could intimidate John Wick. So smooth, so charismatic, and so incredibly powerful and ruthless that entire governments cringe at the mere mention of his name.
I like how on the Wanted Poster at 1:04 under Occupation, it simply just states: Name an Occupation. Either someone in production forgot to give Raymond an occupation, or he has so many that you can just name any occupation and Raymond has probably done it.😂
My favorite series of all times, gets my blood pumping every season every episode every scene. Sometime I wonder if the writer's are human or 👽 every season made sense.
Working for the government and in IT ruined shows like this for me. The feed to pick up Zamani, finding finger prints, etc, would have taken a week(s) at best.
Knowing that DNA exists ruined the show for me. They waited like three seasons to take a sample of Red's DNA to see if he really was Reddington. And the explanation that they didn't have Red's DNA on file as the reason why they didn't test him is beyond bs. He's been directly involved in hundreds of crimes, at the very least they would've compared his DNA to existing crime scene evidence to see what crimes he was tied to previously.
Its a shame The Practice and Boston Legal aren't available on Netfilx or Amazon for free- you have to pay per episode. It would have been good to have them available for new fans to see his past work. I personally loved him as Steff, the quintessential 80's rich kid asshole...
Honestly, from the first time I saw it, even till now. The whole scene Raymond Reddington surrendered himself to the FBI is the most badass shit in all the shows, movie, etc I have seen.
Fabulous actor. Each of his dialogue is well presented that anyone will watch want to listen again and again. How he carries is personality throughout the series is treat to eyes.
This show started off so insanely good then went completely off the deep end and ruined after season 6. To be completely fair, bokenkamp DID say at the beginning of the series that he had enough for 5 good seasons, so he pretty much warned from the start that his ideas were limited. Now it’s a huge tmblr fanfic mess.
For a show that’s mediocre at best it definitely created one of the best characters in both movies and tv shows through and through. And that’s jellybean. Bless that man.
Love his character so very glad Liz is no longer on the show .. her character really annoyed me .. she flip flopped too much and behaved like a spoiled brat .
Red 🍒♥️🍒♥️ is the best of all TV characters 🤠🤠🤠 James Spader made a good ULTRON👏👏👏👏🤷 But this is the most badass PILOT episode ever in the history of TV
This just makes me even more frustrated at Age of Ultron. Ultron should have been terrifying, cold and calculating. Things Spader has demonstrated he can do quite well. But Whedon went for the comedic approach instead. 🤦We should have LEAST gotten that version in What If.
The worst thing about the opening scene is that they started shooting, they would not only hit Reddington, but they would be hitting each other with all the rounds flying around.
Them pulling out all their guns on a man in a suit on the ground with his hands on his head is just the overkill I would expect from a show, but it's super reality right now.
I loved this show, for the first Season or Two. It seemed to get more convoluted over the Seasons and more about interpersonal drama. Something I'm not interested in.
My God he's such a intense actor i always gets chills when he comes on screen as Reddington😂 and in his role in Boston legal is also at another level 😂
