Raymonda Act. 3 variation (Split Screen): Khoreva / Smirnova 

While I love them both, you can REALLY see here that Smirnova is just a more seasoned dancer. She just really seems to make this performance her own. Khoreva is technically beautiful, but you can tell she just hasn't had the time to really refine this performance and add her own personality to it.

Smirnova, hands down. Such a gorgeous interpretation. Her technique is superb - it’s the beautiful “tool” that frees her to be an artist. To me Khoreva is too hung up on her technique. She looks a bit awkward when she’s dancing even though she rehearses her technique ceaselessly. I feel as if she’s a bit blank as if nothing is coming from within. Smirnova, who I’ve been watching since she was at Vaganova, has always had great presence. Khoreva’s impossibly tiny but tall ballerina figure in the white tutu is beautiful. But Smirnova is the more accomplished artist.

Ольга Смирнова абсолютно точно понимает героиню, которую танцует. 👍 Невозможно сравнивать ее и Хореву. Все таки до этой роли надо дорасти.

maybe we should compare Olga’s and Maria’s debut performances, just that they’re on the same base line :)

I love Khoreva but in this variation wins Smirnova, she is so confident on her movements, the use of the epaulement and her facial expressions are exiquisites.

Unfortunately, khoreva does not dance with her soul, unfortunately I often lack the artistic level in her interpretations. too bad she has everything else but looks like a robot too often. This also has nothing to do with their youth, there are numerous examples of young soloists who may not have been technically brilliant but who knew how to express emotions.

I love Khoreva but Smirnova really shows a sense of confidence and a little more maturity. I also prefer her more understated approach to the character component of this variation.

The lady in grey, hands down . I didn’t look at names so I’d just concentrate on dance. Hard to describe but she just has ‘it’ 👵👵👵👵🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

До каждой роли надо дорасти. Даже странно сравнивать прочувствованный танец состоявшейся балерины Ольги Смирновой и танец, пусть и техничной, но недостаточно эмоциональной Марии Хоревой. Однозначно Смирнова!

Anytime I see Smirnova I can't help but think of Turandot. They should choreograph a piece inspired by the opera Turandot on her .

It’s not really fair. Khoreva is 19 years old. This is one of the first times she performs the variation.

Какая тягучая, завораживающая пластика у Ольги, психологически и музыкально выверенная! Это полная гармония музыки, души и тела. Жаль, что БТ лишился такой балерины.

Здесь всё очевидно) Не знаю, уместно ли сравнение. Умение слышать музыку и танцевать в неё, актёрское мастерство, внешность (не настолько опытный птенчик в белом). Гармония Смирновой во всех позициях, и не думаю, что дело в опыте, дело в человеке, артисте

Não tem como compsrar, é até injusto pois a Koreva é super nova e a Smirnova é super experiente. As duas são incríveis.

J'aime bien ce format split screen...ça me permet de regarder 3 fois de suite (au moins: comparaison puis concentration sur chacune des deux ballerines, cela m'éduque un peu) un de ces "moments" particuliers qui nous enchantent dans un ballet , et combien je suis fascinée par cette variation de Raymonda, je ne saurais le dire assez. J'ai compris qu'il y a une jeune ballerine (19 ans!) pleine de promesses versus une qui a atteint une magnifique maturité, c'est très intéressant de voir ça, hommage à toutes les deux !

Сравнения никакого! Слитный танец с образом Смирновой,и подбрасывание мяча техничной распиаренной Хоревой. Хорошо кольцо не сделала,так складывалась самоотверженно пополам.

I loved Khoreva! Loved her superb technique! She looked very at ease in executing a beautiful sequence! She did more difficult steps! Hate when you have to compare....

Is there a significant difference in when these were performed and where? Because that might change things a bit. I think there are parts that the dancers could learn from one another. Smirnova has great timing and elegance but I really like the beginning and end segments of Khoreva’s performance.

This was one of Maria Khoreva's first times dancing Raymonda. Her debut in the role was in the same day as that of Marianela Núñez in the same role, though Núñez was, of course, much older. I didn't particularly like Smirnova's performance. Her interpretation was very harsh and cold. Nor did I like Maria Khoreva's performance, which I found to be too sweet for Raymonda. Эмоционально обе балерины холодны. но юная Хорева больше работает корпусом и это дает танцу дополнительные нюансы. Финальная диагональ - проход на релеве у Хоревой получилась мягче.

Видно, как отличаются сцены Большого и Мариинского по размеру.. Ольга танцует более размашисто и более быстро передвигается.. Мария танцует вокруг себя, потому что сцена поменьше..

Kohreva macht für mich den Eindruck eines sehr jungen Mädchens nicht mehr als 14 Jahre alt. Ihre Bewegungen sind sehr starr man sieht ihr richtig an wie sie die Technik im Tanz studiert. Sie tanzt wirklich ziemlich seelenlos ich mag ihre Art zu tanzen nicht auch ihr Gesicht ist mir viel zu kindlich das ist meine persönliche Meinung. Alles was keine Seele hat berührt nun mal nicht das Herz.
