Hi that's not a ninja graphic , it's MONKEY ! From the 70's TV series. King monkey challenges Buddha and ends up on a quest with tripitaka , pigsy and sandy. Awesome show.
Nice review mate 👌 Personnally I don't like micro-drops. Can't stand to get restrictive feet placements. I prefer boards like Rocket Macro Ian Freire, Prism Hindsight, Original Arbiter KT/DK, Moonshine Sidekick/Outlaw, etc... So bad because this Rayne Darkside looks quite great, nice concave (except micro-drop...), nice construction, lovely shape... I think if I'll try again a micro-dropped board, this will be the Darkside (or it will not be :)
Thanks for the review. Could you do one about precision trucks, and why you chose the ones you have, also when you moved to precisions and what the benefit was
The perfect video for me. I have been staring at a Darkside in my cart for a while now. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get my hands on K5’s but I doubt I really need them at my skill level right now anyways. Any cast truck setup recommendations to get started?
On a deck this wide you could run 150mm to 180mm trucks, personally I have Paris v3s and they feel great, i would also reccomend the new cal 3 trucks with the 44 degree baseplates
Yeah I highly reccomend the Darkside and like the previous comment suggests anything in the 150-180mm area would work well. I have a review of the new Cal 3's that might help you out too but they would be great trucks for this board. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gtheVbXoN5o.html
I have the V1 and love that board ...no wheel wells though so it took me ages to work out riser, bushing and wheel set-up...I have it with K4's just like yours and RAD Feathers and it works really well....I'm sixty so my speeds and skills are not as yours but I do maybe 60 kph....and slide a little...lol. The other Darkside you have is exactly the same as mine, same graphic and I have PNL Strummers which are exactly the colour of your trucks.....with RAD Jimmy Riha's so just like the Feathers but softer. I much prefer the tattooed graphics and not the sticker the do now....or is the fat bottom a tattooed graphic? I now want another deck. I wached Levi Green on his prototyper and with PNL's in 2013 and just fell for that deck!
Yeah I like the tattooed graphic too my first darkside was the same as the one you described. I'm not sure if the new graphic is tatooes or just under a layer of something but it is scratch ressistant which is cool. I think the bluey/purple/pink graphic is my favourite just cause I really like the wizard riding a turtle 😂
@@ChemTrailSkate ...haha...yes...it's crazy cool and is less 'dark' than the first Darkside graphic. I love it and with the wheel-wells it works better. I put clear Vicious on mine and it actually stays quiet clean and you see a little of the wood grain. Love the snub-nose of the Darkside too!
Most people start skating on same angle baseplate set ups (symetrical set ups) So I would reccomend that if you're just getting started, however split angle trucks can be really nice too and they are a lot better once you start going faster
I am in Ottawa getting back into longboarding, do you have any recommendations of what deck to get? I am so out of the game, sold my stuff 4 years ago. I was into slide jam stuff (360 slides, longest standup) I prefer directional boards with kicktail, 5"11. Everything seems to be wayyy more expensive these days, I am thinking about the landyachtz FREEDIVE . love the videos man!!
The freedive looks really good, I just bought the rocket Leon and am super stoked on it and the rayne strayne looks good too. Most gear is expensive these days but decks are pretty high quality now so its worth it for the most part.
They switched to just calling them all the Darkside a few years ago and this year they just released one size. I was going off the specs motion boardshop has as Rayne doesnt actually have any on their site with this board (at least not when I filmed this video)
On your rayne mitty review you mentioned that it didn't have " bacon " can you elaborate for a relative newbie , it's a term i haven't come across except in your video. Thanks
Its a type of concave which is wavy kind of like bacon, its hard to see in the video but is bassically has the effect of the concave getting deeper and shallower along the rail of the board
Its called a footstop, this one is from riptide and is made from urethane but you can also get them 3d printed or some companies even make metal ones! Its to help with sliding as you can push your foot against it for leverage
Oh good so it’s not just me who had like 4 boards set up and a stack of decks in the corner lol. My girlfriend asks why I keep buying them? She just doesn’t get it lol
I normally equate to the mindset so freeriding is more about fun/sliding and downhill is more about going fast/racing/ taking the best line. Usually the difference is in the wheels you ride so big square lip grippy wheels for downhill and smaller slidier wheels for freeride.
