Toxic masculinity is the ISSUE here, two things can be true at once. Sexual abuse/assault is not just common in Hollywood, it is common everywhere, in ur community, mine and globally, children suffer from sexual abuse globally and far to often. You would be suprised how many people u know and have interacted with that have been sexually abused, it is such a taboo topic so most people do not talk about it at all. Young boys are sexually abused far to often, whether it be family, friends or someone of authority, it happens a LOT, just ur average day kid can become prey for a predator. Toxic masculinity and patriarchy come into play because our patriarchal society tells men that u have to be externally strong at all times, showing vulnerability and empathy makes you weak, if you have been sexually abused by another man than you are automatically assumed to be gay. That is where toxic masculinity comes into play. You can say that the entertainment industry and Hollywood is at fault for the abuse Raz had to face but it's not completely true. Raz was molested by his cousin, Chris is a blood relative. Raz wasn't molested by someone who he worked with in the industry, record execs, producers, other entertainers, he was molested by someone who was raising him and who was supposed to be his family. And the way it sounds to me is that incest/sexual abuse has been normalized in that family. Raz was at risk for being abused regardless of the ties he had to the industry. Like most children, they are often abused by someone in the home or by other family members. It might be a hard pillow to swallow but most sexual abuse is also incest too.
