Barracuda X got a 2022 refresh and it has bluetooth now btw. It's really good. I was looking for an upgrade for my cheap bluetooth headphones for my phone and my cheap wired gaming headset (which I connect to my controller). The Barracuda X now does both and now I have a Headphone for both my iPhone and my PC. I was not keen on buying a seperate headset for each use case so having one for both is great.
Being a Razer product, it is normal to have that doubt lol. My Tab Keycap on the Blackwidow V3 Mini Phantom just decided to come loose on its own and now wont sit in the keyboard 😱
Hi AchilliesNotChillies! Thank you so much! I’m glad that you feel this way and enjoy my videos ^^ Help share them with your friends will also greatly help this channel grow :)
Thank you for watching! Mine is still holding up fine after more than a year now. Though to be fair, I don't use it very often, and I clean it with a little soft and wet cloth after use.
Hi I am using the razer barracuda x wireless for last 2 years. I will say that it's one of the best value for money. Pros: great battery life for long session. Great for FPS gaming. As u can clearly hear footsteps. Good for music but not for bass lover. But vocals r very clear. Also the head rest foam still looks like new after wearing for long session. Still not torn. Very comfortable as it is light. Cons; no Bluetooth and sound could been a little better if they have included a 50mm driver.
I have had a couple of diferent g pro headsets g pro and g pro x and both failed, I ended buying two of these Barracuda X at once as they were on clearance, only downside is lack of graphic equaliser , with that said, these may ~appear~ to be somewhat flimsy but have put up with my somewhat brutal treatment of my heaadset very well with no damage to date at all. Stil lhave backup set in the box ready if and when they stop working.
Hi Rez! Thanks for the feedback! For the volume on PS5, as I still haven't got my hands on one yet at a reasonable price, I can only tell you that it is loud enough (a bit too loud for me at max) when used with the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. It's only when used with android phone (ROG Phone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S8/S10 Plus) that the volume is not very loud at max.
@@GamersClinic Sounds great! It looked like the volume wheel had less range than the knob on the BlackShark Pro Wireless (which I enjoyed your review on as well.)
Got the 2021 one for my steam deck some days ago since it was cheaper and I only intent to use the included 2.4ghz dongle, fits perfectly where the newer dongle with the 2022 version will likely either block the power button or some of the ventilation.
Hi Gloriam! Thanks for letting everyone know about the dongle. PS: I envy you that you could get your hands on a Steam deck as it is still not available here >
Hello, good, I have a problem with those headphones a few hours ago it did not connect to the device as if it will not detect it. When I connect it, the blue light flashes and it does not connect. Could you please give me a solution?
I like the headset. It has some issues. Recently it got stuck in analog mode, not sure if wire when pulled out was angled or little forceful. I tried many suggestions, uninstalling drivers. Drain battery and carefully unplugged battery for a bit in the right ear piece What worked. Plugging in the 3.5ML Jack back in and turning until I felt a pop from the connection port and quickly pulled out Now it works wireless again.when it’s stuck in analog mode it won’t register or sync to the dongle for a connection but will still show power. Careful using 3.5ML Jack it can get stuck in analog mode
Hi Daniela! Thank you very much for your feedback ^^ Personally, I like it more than Razer's Kraken budget series as this design is slightly more durable. As for the 7.1 surround, it relies on software emulated surround to achieve that effect. The only true 7.1 surround headset is one of Razer's older headset Tiamat 7.1.
@@GamersClinic Since you suggested the 2022 version, I'd like to get your opinion on which one to get between the 2022 barracuda or the hyper x cloud II (non pro)
Hello, I am new here and have a dilemma, haha. My current cheap headset, which I have had for some years already, are falling apart (Onikuma - great and fancy Japanese headset). I have been doing my research for almost a month (it feels like forever, though, haha) and I almost decided, after many reviews on RU-vid, to go for HyperX Cloud II. But then I decided that I wanna do another round of reviewing, because I really like the design of Razer headset. Considering BlackShark V2, potentially V2Pro, thinking of Barracuda X and, as of today, MSI GH502 or so. I am after crisp spatial sound (footsteps, gunshots, wind, etc, preferably out of the box, although I can tweak it a bit - have been using FXsound utility for some time already, yet it is good to do it properly, cause sometimes, especially when there is more going on, the sound gets distorted a bit, perhaps it is the bass system. Not really an expert in tweaking to make it perfect, haha), bass, comfort, not really using microphone, wanna be immersed in the game itself. Here and there playing MP, but mostly just SP. Noise cancellation would be also nice. My budget is 100-150$, 150 is truly the highest point. Will appreciate any advice. After so much reviewing and re reviewing, I am almost getting dizzy :D But I really need a new headset. Sound and quality and comfort are super important to me. Thanks in advance.
Hi Zeryth! It's almost a year now and the headband is still holding itself together with no cracks yet. Though to be fair, I did not use it everyday as I have been trying and reviewing other headsets so it's mostly sitting on a headset stand. For Razer's PU Leather, I find that they usually start peel around the 2 - 2.5 years mark.
For the updated version, you could connect with Bluetooth. And for phones with usb-c port, you could plug in the dongle and connect over its 2.4ghz connection for latency free audio.
how does the leather headpad quality after months of use? does it wear out? especially for someone who sweat easily, or having oily hair, or live in a bit damp or humid place cheap fake leather tend to tear apart easily
Hi ANRO! If you clean it with a gentle lightly damp cloth after every sweaty session, keep it away from direct sunlight when not using, it should last you a few years before starting to peel. I have extra oily face and hair and mine lasted a good 8 months before I sold it. It was still in excellent condition, but to be fair, I was mostly using another headset after finishing this video, and only using the Barracuda X when I'm going outdoors. Hope this helps >
@@GamersClinic thanks, I'm a bit hesitant between Barracuda X 2022 or arctis 7p+. One is lighter, have bt, but have leathery headband. The other one excellent, but heavy and alot more pricey
@@anro_gaming Hmm, the 7p+ is a league above the Barracuda X line up, so the 7p+ will be slightly better overall. If you are looking for a Razer variation that's = to the 7p+, it will be the normal Barracuda (non X) or the Arctis Pro/Kraken V3 Pro ;)
Hey i wanna know if baracuda x are good to buy. I ordered them today for 60 euro at promotions and i have 14 days to give them back if i don't like them. I don't know if i should go for baracuda x, coarsir hs70 pro, hyperx cloud 2 wireless , hyper x stinger wireless or steelseries artic 1 wireless for like 90-100 euro. I wanna use them for gaming, music, movies and sometimes using on TV. I also want to keep them for next 2-3 years when i am at faculty without issues. What do you think?
Do they have connection problems? The 2022 model I mean a lot of people have said they face problems while connecting the headphones and they disconnect while in use
Hi CerealUnicorn! If you are not too serious about getting the flagship model and features, but would like to use it for gaming on multiple platforms, and it is the 2021 Barracuda X that comes with Bluetooth, then for $50, I think it is a steal 😉
Hi Jaymar! Yep, the review is on it's way. I'm currently booked preparing for a big live streaming for my full time job with adidas, so the review will be delayed to near the end of Jan or early Feb. As for how I clean it, I can share with you now that I first vacuum it, and then just wipe it down with a semi-wet microfiber cloth, and then wipe it again with alcohol to get the body oil out from the fabric once a week. This should easily remove any of the body grease from the fabric. ^^
Hi TriForce! If you do not mind not having the bluetooth connectivity function for mobile and other devices, then for 49.99 it's a steal ^^ Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping spree!
I bought the 2022 version because I had an iphone and it doesn't work with iphones and I really like to mobile game so it was worth it I also play in pc with the dongle
hi, does the top of the headband fragile ? cuz i used to wear kraken x , but the top of the headband is really fragile and after 8 9 months is already break into two.
Hi farithdaniell! I totally understand you lol. It's definitely more sturdy than the Kraken series. Not the strongest of Razer's headsets, but I haven't seen any posts of users of Opus and Barracuda X post pics of their headsets breaking at the headband. The steel strip used to reinforce the headband definitely helps, but as the outside is still plastic, it will most likely crack first, but not break into two when mistreated ^^
It happens to me with the side of the adjust headband. 1month and it was broken. I got the warranty, and then it happens again and they said i cant call for another one for the same problem
@@whitewolf5886 ever since i saw the design is similar to coolermaster mh 630 , i knew it was going to break since mine also broke on the side as well.
Hi, I have the option to buy both the Arctis 1 Wireless and Razer Barracuda X for roughly $60-70, which one should I go for according to your experience with these two headsets? Thanks for your great reviews, I really appreciate these long-term use videos. :)
Hi Blackboardldeas! Thank for the feedback! I’m glad that you found this video helpful :) As for which one to go for if you are comparing these two models, it comes down to brand preference and warranty as both models’ performance are equally matched. Buying Razer products is like a gamble that you might get one with a slightly sub-par component that slipped their QC. But if it’s easy to get an exchange within two years, then it should not be too much of an issue. Also the ear cushions on the Barracuda X is a tad bit thicker than the Arctis 1, so if you have slightly larger ears, the Barracuda X will be more comfortable for extended uses as your ears won’t be pressing against the earcups. Hope this helps ^^
@@GamersClinic hi there, I will probably go with the Barracuda X, the two headsets are so similar that the little things such as the USB-C or the comfier foam make all the difference. Thank you for your reply, not many people reply to older video's comments.
@@wulbarin31 Hi Mark! The 2022 variant is pretty much the same headset with added bluetooth connectivity which makes the headset even more versatile. The build quality is pretty much the same overall. The Barracuda (non X) and Barracuda Pro however are slightly upgraded ones with more features, but I haven't gotten around to reviewing those yet >
Thanks for the review. I am looking usb wireless headset for nintendo switch docked for voicechat in fortnite, can you confirm that the microphone work via the switch docked (usb A side slot), esp voice chat in fortnite.
Haha yeah, in docked mode, you just need to use the included USB A-USB C cable to connect the dongle to the Switch’s dock to continue using wirelessly. A bit ugly/cable mess but still works :) For the Logitech G733, it’s slightly more bulky but sounds about the same as the barracuda X, but haven’t test it on the Switch and the other 2 headsets, haven’t tried them before.
@@GamersClinic yes thats what it thought too: as long as the headset dongle is plugged to the dock's usb then its ready, but i have read in the internet: some wireless headset do make sound but the mic is not working or even not working at all. Thanks again for the confirmation that barracuda X works with switch dock.
Hello I have a question, I’ve just gotten the 2021 wireless version and the mic isn’t working. It shows it’s connected to my input device but the mic doesn’t work. I was wondering if you knew how to turn it on?
Hi Aariz! It could be that the mute button is on, or the mic is not fully plugged in, or worst case, the mic is defective which in that case you should get a replacement from Razer. Hope you get it fixed 😉
Hi thedarknightme! The Barracuda X doesn’t come with 7.1 surround and ANC. BUT it does work with any virtual surround software that you might have on your PC such as Dolby Atmos or THX Spatial Audio. As for noise cancellation, it only has passive noise cancellation provided by the closed earcups design which does an ok job in blocking out some external noise. Hope this helps ^^
Hi Mr. Hype! You can if your phone has an USB-C port. The Barracuda X doesn't come with Bluetooth support, only the Barracuda and Barracuda Pro has bluetooth. What phone model are you planning to use it with?
i have been interested with this for a while, i have always wondered how these sound with musics? since i usually play with music playing while i play, i have also been considering hyperx cloud 2 wireless, blackshark v2 pro and corsair virtuoso SE/XT
Hi Growl! These sound pretty good for music as well. Though if you have the budget for the Blackshark V2 Pro and Corsair Virtuoso XT, I would say go for those as those definitely sound a level better than the Barracuda X. The only benefit the Barracuda X has is it's ease of connectivity with multiple platforms ^^
cool! the reason i didn't pull the trigger on either of them (blackshark, virtuoso) is because i actually use my bose 700 for both content consumption and games now... and both of them are quite... pricey just to play games with
I have a pair of this, i had them for like 5 months and now the inside of the above part from the rotating part and its so annoying that i have to tape it so it wont fall off. In my case i realy like the headset but i hate that it fall apart.
Nah u won’t catch me playing monstrum on vr with these headphones or you will catch me falling out of my chair breaking my oculus and breaking my chair XD
Hi Nero5ER! Unfortunately this model doesn’t work with Apple products without going wired. However, there is the newer Barracuda model that is more expensive and has Bluetooth connectivity that will allow it to work with Apple devices that supports Bluetooth.
Hi Sakina! Depends on how high your expectations are for “good”, the Barracuda X is pretty decent for fps games in terms of spatial audio or positional audio if you use it together with a 3D surround audio software such as Dolby Atmos for headphones or Razer’s THX audio. The drivers are pretty capable, but do have a tendency to sound muddy when there’s too many things happening on screen at once. If you are playing competitively, I would recommend going for the normal Barracuda or the Pro version, or maybe consider the Blackshark V2 Pros. But that’s just me, as everyone will have different audio preferences >
@Gamers' Clinic THANK YOUUU 🙏 yes I do play competitively and i really needed a wireless affordable one and I actually did get the blackshark pro a little bit more pricy but it's better than being disappointed just cus i wanted to spend less
Hi CHRISP! You can try tweaking it a bit using an equalizer software to get it to sound better for music. Which platform are you currently using it for?
Hi Tati! The Barracuda X will not work wireless with the Xbox due to Microsoft using their own proprietary connection for wireless peripherals. You will need to get the Razer models specified for Xbox to get it to work. See if you can return and exchange for another wireless headset designed to work with Xbox.
these headphones were the most uncomfortable thing in the world. felt like a crab on steroids trying to crush my brains. I had a headache for hours after short use. Refunded these within 24 hours.
Hi gigilo! Fan boi, yes, loyal, no. The moment another brand can come up with better looking gaming products with over the top RGB, it's bye bye Razer lol. 😜
The shit breaks easily, it has metal in its brakets, but that is not what breaks, is the plastic that sorround and holds that plating together, that metal is useless, the razer should have been made of aluminion, if not, is not a eadphone worth buying, the technology that it has doesn't matter if the thing breaks, which it does, buy a hyperx headphone instead, they are stronger, even if they are a little less sound quality, which you most likely won't notice.
Hi Giancarlo! Yes, most of Razer's stuff tend to break easily if not handled with extra care. Part of the reason for the thinner plastic is because they wanted to make the headset as light as possible, so it's a trade off...
@@GamersClinic Aluminion is light, or better yet, carbon fiber, i don't see any trade off but the price, the headphones on itself still feel feavy though, i don't buy the trade of light stuff, i had other headphones lighter, or that feels lighter, which is what matters, plastic is not the only light material, i wouldn't have minded paying a little more for a stronger product.
