Since most of us are on the cheap side, I feel it's more sensible to get an Xbox One controller and pair with bluetooth or even some cable, and attatching it with a clip. It would not be so cheap but it's composed of small pieces that can be replaced and the controller can be used in a console or pc.
Like Prime mentioned in the video, you get input lag with bluetooth while this is almost non existent because you are technically "wired" to the device. And if you are streaming from a PC or such, you definitely don't want to add anymore lag.
I got this less than 48 hours after ordering somehow (tracking number shows the label was only printed like 30 hours before it got to my doorstep, crazy) and man it's been a blast. I've used it extensively with Rainway, Moonlight, Xcloud Beta, GeForce Now, and even Stadia, along with a few gameboy advance emulators. And man this thing rocks. I do wish it wasn't so expensive, but the market for well built mobile focused controllers isn't exactly a competitive space. You have a bunch of cheaply built Bluetooth ones with deadzones in their joysticks, and the ones that don't have that have terrible layouts or are almost impossible to buy without importing. I'm definitely going to be keeping this thing with me for the foreseeable future. With kids the switch has been a life saver for being able to game on the couch while they play so that I can help at a moment's notice. With this controller and gamestreaming to my phone from my PC and other cloud streaming options I really can play almost anything without having to be at my desk. This controller really ties it all together nicely.
I use mainly emulators. Very fast response time. Im no speed runner but input lag is not noticeable to me. Im sure someone who plays on a crt with original hardware might notice but i dont.
After watching 9 minutes of this video, I still have no idea how clicky the buttons are or how much Dead zone the analog sticks have or how good of a controller it is overall But at least I know how to set it up
Yes. It's concerning that reviewers spend more time thinking how to make products look visually nicer to rack up views instead of actually reviewing them. Doubt they even spend more than 5 minutes actually using them. And if they do, they do a very bad job of sharing their discoveries.
Mine arrived today and pretty happy with it. Fits a Poco F3 like a glove. Only minor gripe is d-pad isn't the best, especially for rapid accurate input (digital to analogue or similar settings works great in retroarch to use thumbstick instead of d-pad) I didn't realise the triggers were pressure sensitive (great for racing and gc games!) A perfect controller would be like this one, but with built in speakers and headphone jack through the USB-C connector. The reason being that a lot of phones will have their speakers and headphone jacks obstructed. This would ensure compatibility. If a controller like that was released I could definitely see myself having my phone as my primary portable gaming device. (mostly due to emulators) ;)
Theres also an upside as some phones don't support being connected to multiple bluetooth devices. For people with bluetooth earphones, this is great that its using the usb c port :)
@@lessmasterdark I will give you that, but I'm coming from a note 8- so no point in me buying decent usb c earphones when I have a pair of bluetooth earphones I like :) especially when bluetooth was the way for a long time, and i kept damaging my headphone jack 😂
@@lessmasterdark it probably boils down to price. Including a DAC with headphone jack and speakers is just extra cost and assembly points. Especially if it would be designed with stereo speakers in mind. (one speaker would need to be routed to the next controller). But I mean, if a no-name brand did the same thing as razer, but with these improvements we would end up with a controller around the 40$ mark instead anyway. xD I mean there are other things that actually don't cost money, like the lack of a bluetooth controller, battery and rumble motors... It shouldn't be hard to hit a lower price.
@@PixelShade Hah, kinda forgot a DAC would be necessary which would probably buff the price a bit. And it's razer.. They will forever be overpriced. At least they're on to something here because this seems like a really nice controller, especially if they got the shoulder buttons right. I will probably wait for other brands to release something like this for at least half the price.

Keep in mind it will not fit the S20 but! There is a modification I found on reddit where folks are removing the rubber interior, allowing for the most massive phones like yours to fit. Some users put sticky pads in there to hold it in place a bit better once theyre gone. I'll be doing this for my new OnePlus
you can actually use the razer with call of duty mobile. you have to have your Xbox controller linked to your phone via Bluetooth. You can actually switch between the two. But you must have the Xbox controller connected during call of duty
I just got this controller yesterday, and so far it seems to work really really well with my Pixel 4a 5G. Especially great for PSP emulation. And I love that there's no noticeable input lag, and that I can still charge my phone with the controller connected. However, I have a real big gripe with it, and it's that I can't use wired headphones with it because it blocks the headphone jack of the phone. Not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to have some kind of headphone jack built into the controller. I guess I'll be on the lookout for some low latency bluetooth earbuds to get around this issue.
Looks nice but, is it worth it with the price over an 8bitdo? I’ve been using the wired one lately with a type c adapter in my galaxy tab S6 and its inexpensive and virtually lagless. I get the formfactor for a phone but damn. 80 bucks.
I think it's worth the price. This controller is the first Razer product I have bought from them and it's exactly what I was looking for. A telescopic controller without input lag.
FYI everyone folks on Reddit found that this controller has rubber sections where it holds the phone on the inside. They are removable! This allows for even the huge Galaxy s20 to fit, and many other phones without having to remove your case. I did see that people put in sticky pads to hold it in place better, but overall this little mod makes the kishi compatible with almost any phone.
That's what I thought as well, then I picked one up. There is ALOT of support structure around where it plugs in, even grips around the bezel of the phone. Only rub is that you have to plug it in first then you can clamp on the other side. Very solid device IMO.
I don't know why he didn't show it, but you can use the analog triggers for GameCube's R and L buttons. You can also click the sticks for L3 and R3. I had mine for a few days and LOVE it.
ETA while you're on a controller kick, I would love it if you reviewed the pxn p30 controller. You would be the first big name reviewer to do so. It's strikingly similar to the saitake that you love so much. May even be running the same internals and firmware. I recently grabbed one, but wanted your take on it, mostly because mine randomly disconnects which is infuriating during most gaming sessions. If you do review it I would be floored, and the controller is $30 on Amazon. Nothing crazy but definy worth looking into, especially if like me you can never find the saitake in stock.
I picked one of these up after seeing a ton of reviews before this one, and truly the controller is nice, I have a few issues however... 1.) If you keep your phone in a case, you have to take the case off to use this device. 2.) The Price. I would have at least expected some type of Hard shell so I can throw this in my backpack without worrying about breaking the thumb sticks. 3.) (Potentially something I'm doing wrong) At least on my Pixel 3a, the left side has a tendency to come towards me. Controller goes from (|==== |) to (/====|)
FYI if you wanna use any x input controller on pub g or call of duty all you need to do is connect an actual Xbox controller and any other xinput controller at the same time. This will unlock the controller only servers and input from both controllers work as if they were both official. Both controllers need to be on and connected but this opens up your choices on what you can use.

I've been using it for a week and this is the best Android controller in the market. I used many Android controllers in the past, all Bluetooth controllers I've tried have much worse latency, and the only decent two I have, DualShock 4 and the Shield Controller are either not suitable as a handheld or uncomfortable to hold when attaching a phone. In terms of fitting, I've tried with a couple of my phones and it fits perfectly my OnePlus 7 Pro and my Xperia XZ2. The only issue I've found so far is that the Type-C port on the Kishi doesn't pass Quick Charge through to the Xperia phone, max power supplied is 5v / 1 Amp. I haven't tried the OnePlus charge as I'm afraid of damaging the Kishi. If you can find a cheap SnapDragon 945 phone on eBay, with a Rzer Kishi attached it becomes the best dedicated handheld money can buy, it can move any Dolphin game, including Wii's Xenoblade, and many Citra games are playable with the last beta, anything below like Yaba Sanshiro or Flycast runs flawless.
I love you for testing the essential phone. I've searched everywhere and no one has it. It's my emulation phone since it's EOL and I'm about to buy the controller.
The Junglecat also fits the Galaxy Note 8 since it's identical in size with the Note 9. I know this because I have it. Before purchasing I sat with someone on Chat Support and they confirmed it fits just fine. Reason they don't promote it is perhaps the camera cutout. Reckon that would make the messaging tricky. But, yeah, if you have a Note 8, be assured the Junglecat works flawlessly. I'm using it with PPSSPP & XCloud to play Game Pass games. Works like a charm!
Since you mentioned the Razer Jungle Cat, there is another gamepad which has a similar separated gimmick, but it uses a completely separated left and right phone grip, will not fit any tablet. Google searching "Dilong War Wolf Eating Chicken" should find it. It is not officially sold outside of China , so it is difficult to purchase it from the US. I've seen it sold on AliExpress, and with S&H it is still cheaper then the Jungle Cat.
The make or break question for me is do i have to take off my case every time i plan to use the controller? i have a very thin case, but i am guessing so.
Thanks for showing the emulator games. I bought this before even looking up any in depth information and it looks like i made the right choice. I primarily want this to play through the DS and GBA Castlevanias again since im playing Harmony of Despair with a friend. Im picking it up later today. Hope its every bit as good as it looks
@@andrepechio i like all of them, but of the gba ones i always play Circle of the moon and Harmony of Dissonance a few times a year. Aria of sorrow is good too, but i always just play Dawn of sorrow.

Works with an Xperia 1 for anyone wondering if it fits. Should also work with a 1ii. You might have to remove your case to make it fit but my case is thin so I didn't have to.
I ended up picking this up at Walmart for 50 bucks and it came with a set of wireless earbuds it was left over from Black Friday and I absolutely love it it's perfect the only thing is I can't have my Otter case on my phone while I use it
Cool review! I'd like to see a comparison between the Kishi, and it's uncle, the Gamevice controller. Gamevice doesn't have a spongey d-pad, the thumbsticks click, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, and it also has pressure sensitive triggers. I use it with my pixel 3xl and it's a dream.
God forbid it doesn't, some folks on reddit discovered that where it holds the phone inside, there are removable rubber grips that will even allow the massive galaxy s20 to fit. even with a case on!
I'm guessing the usb c plug thing wont work with even a slim case on the phone? Beyond that, this does seem like the best of the lot, but has typical Razer pricing (I stopped buying their unreliable, overpriced mice years ago) which for me means it's only a bit less than I paid for my Moto g power. (2021 model) So for that...hard pass for me, I dont currently play any games that really need the controller.
Honestly, it's worth the price. I don't usually buy stuff like this but I'm really glad I decided to buy this controller instead of a Bluetooth one. There's no latency in emulators or game streaming apps and it's less heavier than an xbox controller with a phone clip and much more comfortable.
I once had a controller like that for my iPhone 4s and I think it also worked on a 6s, that was $20 and was great, why can’t they make more of those, cheap case grip controllers
Almost perfect --but because it's usb-c in a fixed location, portrait mode isn't possible which means DS games and vertical shooters won't be a great experience. It would be nice if they gave a bluetooth option for those situations. Otherwise this looks amazing.
It's very similar to the GameVice controller made on the iPhone 6 back in the day. I still use that one today, just wish it had L3 and R3 analog click buttons.
Perfect for my old Pixel 3 XL I keep for emulation. Front facing speakers are a must with these type of controller. I guess I'll be replacing iPEGA BT Controller!

Kinda cool. It's cool it has USB c as Bluetooth is latency. I don't notice it. The inpega one's aren't high quality. where where kinda stuck with those. They should make one that fits a tablet.
using this with mi9t pro/s8+ and poco f1 its really nice controller good quality(actually the best i have.. and i have all of ipega/beponcool etc). came in 3 days to austria from hong kong (ordered from razer site)
returning mine to amazon I just bought. The firmware is still 2.70 (same from this video) and hasn't changed since up to march 4th 2021 (as of writing). I couldn't even check for an update though the app at all. COD and PUBG are still not compatible, and all my games I play aren't either. Its a shame as I really wanted it to work. Nice video. Nothing against you, just that it did not work for me.
That's something really interesting to consider with a gaming PC and a compatible phone, even my good old ZTE from 2017 has USB-C, and a 1440P screen that matches my monitor resolution, I'd definitely need a 5GHz WiFi router first though :/
Just bought this bad boy for my galaxy s20 and i love it. I recommend it, it fits perfectly. I basically turned my phone into a nintendo switch. I play Gta and some snes roms.
Now this is a controller I would like to get one day. Updated firmware along with a USB C plug while being able to charge through pretty much sells is for me. Reminds me of the Duke controller except in mini size XD. But thank you for reviewing this. I would like to get it, but I'm gonna have to wait on a sale one day when it's at least $30 to $40. $80 is too high for this type of controller. But still, very cool.
Very nice, but also very expensive. The USB-C charging pass-through is appreciated, but it's a shame they didn't make an audio-out pass-through as well... Now what I want to know is if this USB-C pass-through only supports charging, or does it work like your regular USB-C phone port, so you have the option to plug in on OTG a portable USB DAC/Amp to get the sound out without Bluetooth?

I love these controllers that plug directly into the phone and don’t require charging. Just wish more telescopic controllers did this and did it cheaper.
Great video as always. But question.! Would you rather use the Kishi or an Xbox or Playstation controller. For best effect and functionality.? I mean yeah the kishi will probably be a little more portable. But that seems to be all it has over regular controllers. So is it functionality on par or better. For its form factor and design. Or is the functionality of real controllers actually Superior to functionality of this mobile controller? Also I have the s21 ultra. Which they say doesn't fit without removing the inserts. Also you have to take off the case. So with that in mind even if the functionality is similar to a standard console controller. Do you think because I would have to remove the case every time I wanted to use it that I should just stick with a regular console controller? Your input would be extremely valuable thank you.!
If you already have a console controller (ideally from xbox which are easier to setup and get going) pair it up or wired with a clip, like it and if needing more portability, ergonomics ect. consider investing in a Kish or other like controllers. glhf

This controller is a beast i use the mantis gamepad pro button mapping app cost a few bucks for the pro version of the app or you can find and sideload the pro apk as i did and once you can map all your games controls this thing is so good
i actually use the note 9 shell for the jungle cat on the one plus 7 pro. just used a dremel and shaved it down and cut out the camera , it fits perfect and its awesome. i prefer the jungle cat better because of wireless feature
Even now in 2023 you can find it for 30 or 40 bucks and at you can't beat it at that price point the only thing that is bad about it is pass-through charging doesn't work on all phones.
Using ports on the phone as means of input (like USBC in this case) is absolutely impractical. When you put the second half of the controller on the phone I thought the USB-C would snap as it was in weird angle. I am pretty sure that this controller will be a culprit of many broken USB-C ports.
I would have putted the usb-c charging station upside rather than downside, the ds console had it upside for a reason, it was because it could become troublesome to play while having the cable getting in your way to play comfortably, altough here doesn't seem to be that uncomfortable, it is still not pleasing to the eye to see it in that position

This looks interesting but I'm holding out to see what happens in the mobile gaming controller market once xbox officially releases xcloud. I think that will have an impact on the market.
i hate how it doesnt support a case. removing it everytime to use this is kind of a bummer for me. but i may have to deal with it since this seems like the best controller for phones even in 2021

I've had one now for about a week and it's great. I wish the usb C port was used for more than power passthrough. I wish the unit could actually hold tablets somehow and not be built specifically just for phones of a certain size. I wish the triggers and grips were just a smidge bigger for more comfort... But this is still hands down the best way to play Xbox on the move and the low latency is the way all controllers like this should be... It's very noticeable when you go back to other Bluetooth controllers. So it's great, not perfect and arguably worth the price as there isn't anything else that comes close right now. Oh and build quality is great. Not quite Xbox controller great but definitely the sticks feel as good as switch joycons or a a little better to me.
Tablets? Then the sides of the controller would have to be huge. Unless they don't add those rubber things around the usb c but then the devices wouldn't be as safe in place as they're right now.
Thats what I am thinking but then you are close to in price to a gpd win max. Granted the next version of the win max will likely be the one to get if it comes with Ryzen cpu. We are so close to having what I want in a handheld but not quite there. The poco f2 is really close, if it was the same price as the f1, then Id think we would have a winner.
