I think we grew up in the same era swifty and when I watch your videos of how you got to where you are I think to myself geee this guys a real inspiration. I really love the story of your arcade operation days and actually making a living off it. much respect.
By far the best review possible answer most any and every question you can have, great job, and thank you Swifty for taking the time to review it, completely helped me decide to get both the Nostromo keypad and Naga mouse
Dude omg, I remember watching this video when I like 13 years old because I wanted to play WOW but hated the key layout so got a nostromo and have been playing MMO's ever since. This video brings back so many memories and it's just a review!
Swifty Thank you ever since i got the Razer Nostromo ive stopped from being a clicker and started keybinding it helped me improve my DPS by a Ton in PvP
Another tip is one can use the scrollwheel for changing stances. OR Target closest X (scroll back) Target next (scroll up) Target focus (click) I use a classical Mx518 and were looking around for a replacement, found your Naga video and then this. So going to get the Naga. ;)
just bought one, and its pretty awesome so far. made a macro to log into SWTOR, and remapped a few things. gonna get more in depth with it now hopefully
thank you for your video!!! I'm a truck driver and mobility really huge for me. I just got the nicest gaming laptop on the market right now, so I'm ready to get gaming while traveling the country :D This shoud defintely help!!
I been using the Nostromo n52 since it 1st came out aka the Grey nonGlowing one for mmorpg's and I still love it. Been playing for years as a main healer/tank, secondary healer/tank + WoW Arena PvP and can't live without it. When they "Grey" went out out of production I even stocked up on 4 more some years ago. The original one still works so I havn't even taken em out of the boxes yet. :P
You are the man i was contemplating if i should get the nostromo since i already had the belkin but you made me a believer so i will be upgrading to it i already own the naga and love it WEwt~ Thanks for the video on showing how you do macros and bindings its really helpful to see how a pro does it
Great video. I have tried for years to get people to try the N52. Once you stick with it and get used to it, you simply cant go back. I have the original n52 and the te and want to make the change over to the Razer. I know from experience that the product had better support and better drivers and software since Razer's involvement, I cant wait to get the Razer Nostromo now. This video cinched it for me to upgrade. (DAMN that software is the shit!)
@sPiiN1337 I've only just gotten into the whole idea of making presets and such, mostly cause it bothered me to have the useless CAPS key. I think you can switch the fly, at the very least you could create a quick macro to do it for you like you saw in this vid. But I recommend this to everyone. It's the most comfortable thing ever.
I've never liked swifty simply because everyone was so crazy about him, but after seeing this, I must admit he is bloody awesome! And what an amazing tool, definately going to consider buying one
My setup was inspired by Swiftys setup, gotten so used to my Nostromo now that going back to a keyboard would really feel weird. And not only do I use it for WoW, but Skyrim and TF2 which I play mainly now and works real well.
u SIR got my utmost respect !!! even u've got sponsors ur still using ur old mouse mat!!!! respect from A MALAYSIA wow player here!!!!!!!! GUA SALUTE LU AH BRADER!!!! (IT MEANS I SALUTE U BROTHER IN MALAYSIAN LANGUAGE)
i like how most people make a 1 min video point out one minor flaw and say it's shit. while you make a 12 min video pointing out every pro/con about it which is why is enjoy YOU!
Man I have this too and it's awesome! The thing I love most is that I use button 16 so I can switch to my pvp mode and farming mode so quickly in world of warcraft
I've checked out some of your other vids, and I'm impressed with your set up! There have been a couple of things that just took me in a whirlwind and slammed me. First, your set up with the 3-46inch Samsung Monitors. Very Nice!!! Second, your set up with the Macro to get all your web browser, game, etc up and running. I just got a 'slightly' ahead of the curve gaming rig, and 24 inch monitor, but I'm looking to expand my knowledge. Any help that you could give would be phenominal
It depends on how much you are willing to pay, the Nomstromo is the cheaper version of the orbweaver. they have their own pros and cons, but if have the money, buy the orbweaver.
Im getting both of them at the same time now, and i just think it will be much easier with all the available key binds with the nostromo and naga combined and so much will be close to hand
On the downside you "loose" on a way the other 2 "thumbbuttons", atleast for vital functions. Reason is simply that if you reaches for those you stop to a halt. But they still have uses, as for "autorun" as an example. You will be amazed how much easier AND relaxing for the hand it will be to run with the cross and stear with the mouse.
@datCRUNKbuay Yes. You use the "thumbjoystick". The trick is to NOT program it to WASD, but to QWES (front/back, strafe left/right) and then you stear with the most for turns. I used to play Area like that. It's a very "relaxing" setup for your hand and can play hours and hours without any problems.
I just got a nostromo a few days ago. It was big for my hand at first, small to begin with. Gotten used to it, and I use the D pad for movement in wow, So then I can use the spell buttons without stopping my attacking to hit a movement key. I'm a mouse turner so it all works out.
Great review. I really have a better understanding of he razor nostromo. Saw it first on VGHS and fell in love. This is awesome! (and that's coming from a 360 gamer)
I copied all your keybindings (like a-f for Bladestorm) and it's really well working for me, but actually I use the keyboard (Razer Anansi too) I'm looking forward to buy a nostromo :) thx for all your tutorials!
hey swifty, based on the strength of this review, i went and purchased my very own razer nostromo, which is quite expensive here at $130. right now, im having to relearn how to play as muscle memory between my keyboard and the nostromo is quite different. anyway, in anticipation of my performance improving, i wanted to say thanks.
@skarpskyttar I had 2 "main"s. Warrior (Played main tank and Arena) and Priest. The trick is to use the Nostromo as a extension to the game aka rely on the ingame mechanics and adapt the Nostromo to that aka use the Nostromo as a keyboard, NOT as a 3rd program macro monster. What I did on my warrior is that tied the stance buttons to the Nostromo scrollwheel. Up > Arms , Down > Fury , Click > Defence Then the Nostromo keys 1 > 12 mirrors ingames 1 > 0 and +, ´´ on the regular keyboard.
@datCRUNKbuay the current nostromo game pad comes with 15 basic keys, 9 keys for a joystick, a small button above the joystick(extremely quick access), and a scroll wheel. every single key can be any key you want, in addition to this the naga he mentions in the vid(i use the same) has the 1 through = layout on the side in addition to a programmable scroll and 2 programmable buttons. if you have a problem binding a movement keys somewhere in that you have problems more important than that xp
After a few a few months of playing my F key (key 10) began to not work sometimes until it stopped working all together. After not using my "10" key anymore for a while none of the keys worked and the board the keys push down on was obviously loose. If this happens to anyone else (that is not under warranty) should take it apart (it's fairly simple), make sure all of the flat white cables are plugged al the way in they're slots (they are just plugged in so they do wiggle out), find a board shim.
@xKbps1 @9:15 he show you his setup. The WASD keys were left unchanged... If you read bad reviews on the Nastromo, its almost always over the D-Pad, and the users Failed attempt to use it for movement. The up, down, left, right on the D pad are awesome FOR HOT KEYS / CUSTOM Macros... The points in-between them not so great... Just don't be a noob thinking you going to use it like a Snes controller to moving around with.
I've been using the N52te for a while, and it IS a secret weapon (I also use the Naga). I've had people ask me how I can do such good DPS, and they just don't get it when I tell them it's the N52 (and a lot of practice). Only problem, Razer refuses to update drivers for Mac Lion. So you either have to get a new Nostromo, or get ControllerMate. But controller mate comes in handy for other things too, so it's a good investment for $15.00 USD.
@ANBisme the razer nostromo Mac driver is currently under development and should be released sometime in the next few following months (according to Razer), but they've pushed back the Mac driver release date so many times.
