Looks like the Orbweaver is the one for me. And this review was exactly what I was looking for; a great comparison of both with the pros and cons of each device, and a nice set of tips at the end, thank you for the review and advice.
Idk how many years I had my g13 for... i remember having it back in tbc. I remember the exact day I got it. My father took me to the only best buy at the time that was selling it. Was the only one left on the shelve for $60. Even to this day I still using it in BFA. The only problem is that logitech program does not work nicely with the g13.
Im still using the G13 because im left handed and its the most friendly gamepad that I could find out there. Wish more would make left handed versions of their gamepads :(
Great review. Just bought the Razer Tartarus V2 which is how i came across an other video of yours. However, you speak so fast, my brain can barely keep up. Checked the video speed to make sure it was on normal lol.
Wow! First video I have watched of you Hazel. You are quite quick but articulate so well that it's so easy to follow you. This comparison and review is excellent. Thank you. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thanks for this! Yet another well made and amazingly useful video. I am looking into replacing my G13 right now as it and especially the software is acting janky. Great to see the review from the perspective of a primarily a WoW/MMO player.
@@imoRealThug Finding the last produced software version archived isn't the same thing. You will never receive future updates for the g13, meaning every time it runs into incompatibility issues, those issues will never be fixed.
Still waiting for the ambidextrous or even lefties (used with the right hand) version of this kind of thing since the very first time nostromo launched - _- and up until now, no company even bother to make it. Not being able to swap the analog to the left side without any modification is just frustrating since I'm gonna use it in tandem with a drawing tablet. And i draw with my left hand.
Hi I'm looking for one too but I never find it I wonder g13 should be good to me because I want to use for play games but I know that I can't use the analog
Biggest downsides in comparison: Orbweaver has no onboard memory so you are out of luck if you have to go somewhere you can't install your drivers. Orbweaver has 2 less columns of keys. I liked how G13 lets you map your entire row of default mmo keybinds in just two rows: 1 through 6 and 7 through = G13 is now discontinued and I feel like Razer is inferior substitute I am forced into after 10 years of using it.
Hazel, funny you should put out this video right now. My husband and I were just talking about the two game pads about a week ago lol. My favorite keyboard was the Merc Stealth with the built in game pad, but alas :( they don't make it anymore.
Thanks a bunch for the info Haze. I've been considering a gamepad for quite sometime. I just spent 3K on a laptop so it's time to move on to a peripheral to avoid destroying the laptop during high action gamin.........uh I mean diligent work sessions. I needed a comparison of Logitech vs. Razer. The sleepy eyed kitty that photo bombed ya was too cool. Good hunting.
Amazing review, great information; the latest Logitech software is definitely much improved. Both are great products, if you look around there are great deals on both. Managed to pick up the Orbweaver Stealth (original MX-Brown switches) open box for $13 CAD.
Great Review! And finally someone who speaks at a pace and clarity that I can understand(not to mention, you just have a great voice). Additionally, it's nice having a female's take on a product that I've been considering. My now-dead (thanks to a Windows 10 driver conflict) zBoard FANG was the most amazing tool I have ever used. All the buttons were exactly where I needed them, it's super comfortable and worked well with the relaxed hand position. With that being said, it's a major disappointment that zBoard(now SteelSeries) has not reproduced this marvel in design and simply provided a good driver that DOESN'T conflict with Windows 10. Since that's the case, I need a damn good gaming pad to replace it and so far, based on the design to which I am so accustomed, NOTHING has been looking good. Thanks to this review and how thorough you were, this one is looking as though it may serve my purpose. I know it will require a great muscle memory learning curve, but it sure beats getting accustomed to the keyboard again(which never really happened in the first place). Because of how bad a keyboard is, I actually looked up an alternative WAY WAY back and discovered it was right at the dawn of these new gaming pad designs and SteelSeries was one of the pioneers. Damn, I talk a lot.... Anyway, thanks for selling the idea to me. I'll let you know how it goes.
I've been using the G13 since... i can't even remember, like 8 years or more. I've never had the issue with the software you described. Maybe it was conflicting with something else on your machine or the version of the software you used was buggy. I'm on a version of the software from 2009 btw. (Logitech G-Series Key Profiler 3.04.137), because... why update it, it does what it's supposed to do. :D The newer versions partially annoyed me with stuff i don't want or need. I have NEVER restarted the logitech software once since i own the device (and i'm a nerd and work in IT, i do this stuff regularly). Also, i can't report any wear on buttons or functionality. The only thing happening for me (on all Logitech devices...) is the rubber dissolving and losing it's consistency. But usually i put something on top of the pad, trying to find a good replacement part for when i remove the rubber altogether.
As a computer tech and an ex-sales person with computers & accessories I can inform everyone that in Logitech vs Razor that Logitech almost NEVER came back our stores. Whereas Razer products are returned daily and constantly RMA'd for randomly failing. The keys would wear out fast and stop responding, the cords would short out, the RGB would fail etc. Junk! But fanboys/girls insist their gear is good although by statistics, Razer is horrible equipment. Logitech has been durable and well designed, high quality products for decades. It also depends on the user's bad habits. But I go by RMA numbers before I purchse hardware. So Logitech wins my loyalty and has for decades.
G13 user since 2008. I recall having same issues with logitech gaming software for a short period bout a year ago. Couldnt locate gamepad which forced you to restart the logitech software. However up untill then and after that ive never had any issues. Im currently on my 2nd G13, my 1st one the joystick died after about 7 years. In between my purchase of my 2nd G13, I did try the Razer version gameboard but found it to small+it comes 3 keys short compared to the G13. I guess G13 kind of requires you to have bigger hands to take full advantage of it and I can defo understand some people might struggle to reach all keys in a comfortable/fast way. Keyboard VS Gameboard: I remember ditching my keyboard back in wrath after going semi hardcore raiding. To many macros/modifiers made me stationary in pve/pvp. So I gave it a shot with the G13 right @ release. It was quite troublesome having to relearn everything. Think I lost count of how many times I remaped binds to really get that smooth and natural feeling. I just rode it through and after 3-4 weeks of heavy usage I defo improved my gaming. Today I can say that what you gain with a gameboard if you make use of the joystick is heavy movement improvement while being very versatile with abilities. I literally cant see myself play any mmo without a gameboard these days.
I've been using the G13 since October of 2012 and I've never had any of the issues with the software that you are talking about. I've made a custom setup for every game I've ever installed on my system and never had any problems if I specifically choose the exe file for the software detection. I think the problems you were having were due to a fault in the G13 hardware, or possibly a loose USB plug. Also, Cheshire cat at 8:58 through 9:24.
I've had a G13 for like 10 years and the only button gone out is the one below the joystick. I was looking for an updated replacement and considering the Orbweaver but that one has 2 keys less than the G13. The G13 is built like a tank.
Great vid hazel! I have been using a g13 for about a year and it's fantastic. Another thing you can do to help with getting used to the pad is use bartender to organize your action bars in the shape of the pad. That helped me a lot so I could easily see what ability was on what key at the beginning. Question for you on the razr, how is the joystick movement compared to the g13? I've heard it's fiddly compared to the analog stick of the g13 that's what makes me shy away from getting a razr.
I started with the old Nostromo until it finally was unsupported, then moved to the G13 until I had joystick issues and then to the orbweaver recently. For me, I found the orbweaver joystick hard to get used to after the G13 as it is 8 direction movement, fairly sensitive and it's difficult to be sure which of the 8 directions you are actually directing it to at times. I haven't tried to see if I can reduce that to 4 point movement yet (I believe it is possible) but that might help. The G13 was easier to control, however I found that it was also the first thing to break for me. My G13 lasted a few years, but I'd had to repair and take apart that joystick so many times. For the past 3 months leading up to having the spare cash for an orbweaver, I'd had to put up with it randomly registering movement when nothing was touching the joystick. Always fun to have your casts interrupted by movement (thank heavens I wasn't doing serious raids or anything) or random strings of letters appearing in your typing.
I know this is over a year old but I have been using a Nostromo for 10 years now but I am sure it wont be long before it stops working. My concern with the tartus and orbweaver when they dropped was would the new joy sticks still be use able for movement. I had watch either a Swifty or someone else review it and my impression in my memory is they said the joystick didnt work that great for movement so I've put it off. I am wondering how your experience has been, were you able to get the control to work for movement?
I'd also recommend getting an add on like Bartender. I set up my bars to match the G Key layout. Also I map the joystick to WQSE, not WASD, I turn with the mouse.
I've been using a Logi g-13 since 2009, (also an MMO player - Everquest in my case) I've gone through 1 at this point (jan 2020) so i do have agree with assertions regarding the keys wearing out over time. I don't agree with the point about a braided cord being superior to the g-13's though - as I was taking it to work *cough cough* with me everyday for a several years. I never had an issue with the software as described, there is an internal memory profile vs. the software program, which can cause a disagreement between them if they are set differently or the button for swapping profiles is hit accidentally. I definitely appreciate Hazels input it just wasn't my experience with the device (still have one on the desktop). What I am curious about though is if Razor has dealt with their quality issues? They have always been very hit or miss in my experience, tending to be either broken out of the box, withing in a few weeks or solid as a rock years later. If you do respond to - that's my number one concern about going with Razor products - and any thoughts there would be greatly appreciated! Regardless of our differing experiences with the G-13 I did appreciate the comparison and presentation. Subscribed. :)
I started with the Razer Nostromo and eventually upgraded to an Orbweaver and never looked back. I used to have wrist pains after prolonged use on the keyboard but not anymore. Yes there is a learning curve while you are trying to get used to it but its all worth it. I believe I'm a better player gaming wise than without it.
Pretty much the same thing for me, except I started off with a N52 before Razer bought them out. I kept wearing out the membrane versions, but I've had the Orbweaver over 4 years now. I did have the wrist pad issue too, but besides that I'm completely satisfied with it. I'm not sure I could ever go back to a keyboard again.
@@JohnG228 I have been using my Nostromo for years now, about 10 actually, but I know soon it will stop working and the Nostromos are no longer around. I like using the thumbstick to move. Can the Orbweavers be used to move like the nostromo's? That is what has held me back from buying one.
@@WSPBane It could be me, but I liked they old N52 better for the thumb stick. I use the thumb stick on the Orbweaver to move foreards and backwards. But have never really like it for strafing or turning. But that's just me, I've seen that others like it for strafing. I still wouldn't quit using it though, I've also had this one for a few years so the thumb stick might have gotten better.
Thanks for the review. I play FFXIV and I'm thinking of switching over from a controller and I'm dreading having to learn keys, but with the new expansion and all of the new abilities, I can't be as effective on a controller that I have. I'll take your advice and stick with it, if I decide to go this route.
Brian Baratheon did you ever switch over? I am still using a controller for ffxiv. I actually find all the buttons better on a controller. I always find it hard to reach the ctrl key and the alt key
I just bought the Tartarus V2 and took your advice to make a new character in order to get used to using the device. This was such a great idea and has helped me get through the adjustment from using a keyboard. Great video and thanks.
For wrists, just get a brace. Mueller Green makes a great one, its on amazon for fairly cheap. Solved all my wrist strain from computer use. Doesn't look so bad either. Makes gaming quite comfortable in fact.
Your cat has a unique ability, I keep seeing it teleport (Blink) throughout the video! Thanks for the comparison, it solidified my gut choice. Orbweaver to replace my Nostromo.
The problem you had with the softwear i have never had during the the 7years i have been using my G13, not sure if its just bad luck on your side or no, syck that it happened and a good review between both gaming giants gamepads!
I just got my Orbweaver today, this video was so helpful just to tr to get a good idea how to try it. I didn't even think about using the joystick for movement. It's an amazing idea since it frees up the movement keys on the pad itself. Love your channel
I totally agree with you. I am so fucking happy with my orbweaver. Doing movement with just my thumb, freeing up 4 keys literally at the tips of my fingers for my most important skills improved my game so much. I picked it up second hand for 60 bucks, but I'd say it's worth full price if like me you put most of your game time into Wow or similar type of games. It's simply the best controller for this particular type of game.
Loved the reviews. Selling off my G13 (was sitting unused in the closet) and getting the Chorma. I have to now as Windows killed my Steelseries Merc gaming keyboard software so ... time to upgrade, as such. Also, I was very mesmerized by your cat and found myself watching it more so when it was on screen.
awesome and still applicable in 2020 where the g13 is aver $300 to replace :). While I myself have never had problems with the software, I am just a sample of 1 and understand that others may have had issues, especially power users like yourself! Because of this review, I have purchased a Razor Tartarus pro. That and all other manufactures of game pads out there just use "half a keyboard" method, literally replicating the left half of a keyboard which does NOT help as then I have to change game bindings in software, instead of mapping keys to keypresses. Again, Thank you for a great review! Glad to see you still active!
OUTSTANDING REVIEW! I can't believe you maintained focus when the cat got on your lap. great and fun personality, also EXCELLENT content coverage and advice. Thank you, SUBBED!
Probably the best review and comparison video I've ever seen on RU-vid. I'm retiring my 5th and last G13 this week for the Orbweaver. Just can't find replacements anymore under a hundred bucks used. Going to be an adjustment after so many years but looking forward to what Razer has to offer.
Personally I prefer the Logitech G13 over the Orbweaver, however your criticisms of the G13 are perfectly on point other then I guess I am lucky and unlike yourself never really have issues with the Logitech Gaming software, well other then it not starting up on PC start up like it should, that saying its a minor issue. On the other hand I have had loads of issues with the Razer Orbweaver and its little brother the Tartarus, you see I started off using the Tartarus when I first got into gaming pads, this was back before all the chroma stuff came out, I however after just 1 year had the joystick break on me, so I though ok I will go for the more premium model and bought an Orbweaver to replace it, low and behold though once again after a single year I had the same issue. At this point I had never used a Logitech G13 and I was kinda low on cash at the time, I picked up a refurbished G13 for a mere 35 pounds and have been using it ever since, over that time I have had no issues what so ever and I game for extremely long periods of time and have used the G13 for both MMO's, MOBA's and Shooters. So yeah anyway maybe its just me? Maybe I just got faulty Razer gaming pads but ether way I have gone off team Razer ever since at least for that kind of peripherals, ether way though I feel like the gaming pad market is a small one and I really wish that we could see editions from other companies such as Steel Series, Corsair etc and get more innovation. A nice feature for instance would be to have a keypad that registers with your PC as an actual Joystick and not simple a 4 or 8 way WSAD replicator, In my opinion it would be pretty amazing to have all the benefits of keyboard keys while having the speed of motion control that a full joystick gives you.
I just wanna say, ive had the orbweaver, tartarus and tartarus v2, and all of them had broken joystick really quickly. Keep that in mind, its a razer product where it works well till it doesn't :)
I have a Rocca Forte game desk which has to small surfaces on the right and left i find the because i can rest my forearm on the desk instead of my wrist I don't have any problems with Carpal tunnel. So if you can find a way to rest on the upper part of your forearm instead of your wrist it help immensely. JMO
I've had 3 Razer products and all were garbage. Add the mandatory bloatwear for their keyboard I had and I will never buy another Razer anything again. The problems you had with the G13 I have never experienced at all.
Nice review. I’ve had the nostromo since around when it came out and use it for lol which is amazing for me. I can’t play with keyboard anymore. Finally the keys are beginning to give up so I’ll probably get the orbweaver now.
Can I use the Orbweaver for both playing the game and also bind a button for talking in say Ventrilo or Mumble at the same time. In other words, are the keybinds persistent and useable in 2 apps at once. On the logitech you have to tell it to "Set as Persistent" for this to work.
I bought my G13 when it was still pretty new, which means I’ve had it for 8-10 years. The screen has started blinking in and out or sometimes going blank entirely, but the keypad itself is still functional and it still works with new Logitech Gaming software versions. I really love this thing because it has so many buttons on all sides of WASD, plus a big Space key for jumping, plus that incredible joystick on the thumb. I bind it to the numbers 1-5 (5 when the stick is pushed in), and that’s the fastest way for me to switch weapons or trigger skills or activate unit groups without taking my other fingers off WASD. I email Logitech yearly to ask them to make a new G13 but they just don’t seem to understand what a winner they’ve got on their hands and are willing to let it die. Motivates me to make my own 3D printed G13 clone when mine finally croaks.
I miss my G13, couldn't find any worthy replacement so far. Logitech should realy grab the ball and come with a new version, without the display and maybe silent mechanical switches but with the same layout and ergonomics.
I have been using the G-13 for probably15 years now I'm on my 3rd or 4th one and I feel the Razer to be a pathetic substitute... Highly inferior... First off the loss of keys... I know the G-13 has 22 plus the 5 on the joystick and 2 on the thumb .... plus it has 4 modes giving you really 4 more entire profiles of all those keys. I have looked at the Orbweaver several times and I just can't bring myself to make the switch. But soon I'll be forced to... as they no longer make the G-13. I've played Ultima Online for 20+ years and have never had an issue with my G13 losing a profile... I've use it for many games including Black Desert Online, Skyrim, even for No Man's Sky... and I never could get the "hang" of WASD for movement but programming that into the joystick was a snap and makes moving soooo much easier I could never dream of trying anything else. When I've looked at replacement pads for my G13 unfortunately many now do not feature a joystick... Without that I just fail to see the point. The Orbweaver at least has a joystick but the loss of keys holds me back from spending that kind of money on it... Until my G13 completely dies I think I'll stick with it and hold out hope something better comes along.
I bought around year 2000 keyboard by Chicony. A membrane keyboard I use on daily basis for more than 20 years. From demanding key smashers like Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 2 to RTS games, current MMO games, and coding on daily basis. Its my first ever, keep forever. Every key still works. The cable wore off, but I keep fixing it, coz I can't find anything that is worthy replacement for this classic, pleasant to ear and fingers, keyboard. So it is possible to create non-heavy clicker, soft, silent membrane keyboard that will not wore off over few years. I guess these days keyboards are designed to have a short life. Junk is good for business :(
WOW! I often listen to RU-vid videos at 1.75x speed... When this came on I thought I accidentally hit 2x speed. But when I checked it... Normal... Pretty Cool... Good video. Thank you! OMT... Repetitive stress.... "Adopting a weight lifting reg... Oh No.. I think she meant Adopting a kitty...
Absolutely helpful vid. I just picked up an orbweaver after watching Swifty's vid on it. Thanks for the extra help. very concise info and easy to digest. A+
At 5:42 Hazelnut talks about the stealth version. If just like me you didn't find the stealth version and only have Razer Tartarus V2 (Orbweaver of 2020) and you hate mechanical click sounds with a vile passion. (Very reasonable if you are) Then go for the Razer Mecha-Membrane version. You can take the keys off very easy, inside you'll find a small iron clip (which is entirely redundant and only is there for the sound) They are very easy to take out with tweasers and once out will give you a very very quite Razer. (You can also google it and you'll find pictures how to do it) The Analog Optical Switch version is quieter than the mechanical one but not it is still loud. The quietest option is Mecha-membrane version and taking out the click-clips.
Logitech G13 Programmable Gameboard with LCD Display Visit the Logitech G Store 4.4 out of 5 stars $279.99 Unfortunately, scalpers are charging ridiculously high prices for such an old piece of hardware. I picked up an Orbweaver about 1.5-2 years ago and found it was not quite as workable for me as I hoped it would be. I currently use a Logitech G910 keyboard which has additional row of 4 G-keys just above the F1=F4 keys and down the left side there are an additional 5 G-keys, all of which are programmable. So my keyboard actually makes my setups much more comfortable, not having to reach over to the right side of the keyboard since I've remapped many of them to the G-keys instead. Only downside of the keyboard is that it still has the numpad attached. If Logitech ever recreated a G910 keyboard without the numpad attached I would get it in heartbeat.
I wish I had seen this video about a week ago when my orbweaver suffered exactly what you described in regards to the un-gluing of the palm pad. Was a Christmas gift so yeah, almost exactly 5 months old. Still under warranty so I returned it but wish I'd known the fix was easy with some epoxy. Going to go buy some now for when this new one they send runs into this issue I'll be ready. Just wanted to add that other than the issue with the palm area un-gluing I love my orbweaver. Previously I owned a Razer Nostromo.
I've never had any issues with my G13 profiles mid game (the software had issues starting up though), and holy crap, how can you wear out any Logitech membrane keyboard?! I've been using my Internet 350 for 8 years, have written 2 theses, 5 novels and typed for a living before I replaced it with a mechanical keyboard not because it was wearing out, but because I switched to tenkeyless for more mouse real estate.
Up vote for the cat tail microphone. I use the G13, because I did not want to spend the money on the Razer, and Synapse hates my legacy mouse and keyboard, so I hate Synapse. :) I don't play WoW anymore, because I could not find a guild that actually raided, but I do still play other MMOs and having a device like the G13 (or Orbweaver) is so much more comfortable and fun than using a keyboard. I would recommend either one to anyone who plays any games a lot. It's just better.
Does anyone just used Bartender to map their keys with this gaming pad? I have a razor keyboard and mouse. I’ve found the software annoying and sometimes won’t switch profiles. Crashing, locking up, and so on. So basically I just use Bartender to map my keys and I have no problem. The razor software is only good for changing the lighting.
Great review. I purchased both Razer Orbweaver Chroma and Logitech G13. I got them a great prices. I found that since they don't make Logitech G13 anymore the prices are out of control for as little as $70 and at most $499 for just used. with the middle like around $150. I bought mine used for $40 from someone who regretted selling at that price. The Razer Orbweaver Chroma is $99 at Best Buy but I have seen it online for as much at $150. I bought mine used for $50. I want to reiterate what Hazel said that you have to give it time to get used to it. I hated both when I got them but I have since gotten used to them. I have used the Razer Orbweaver Chroma a few time and I don't like how the keys are set up. I kept moving my hand and losing my place on the keyboard at the most opportune times. like Auto running into a mob. to be fair I have been using Logitech G13 for about 2 weeks and i love it. quick good and bad for both. G13 love the keyboard placement I have spare buttons to the left and right of the keyboard. I have more macros I can create. on the Orbweaver I like the thumb placement of the buttons.I don't like the joystick on both was not able to use is comfortable. On the Orbweaver i felt like I didn't have enough keys to use. I didn't didn't like the wrist rest. I always felt like I had to reach for all the keys. I have to say that I love the Logitech G13 alot but I wonder why they stopped making it.
I've been using the same g13 since 2010 and have never had the software fail. I have had the Naga epic and synapse refused to recognize it on its third year. I am looking into getting a new g13, but they are discontinued and don't know if I want to pay $300 for a relic. Im skeptical of the synapse software and being forced to buy a new product every couple of years. Meanwhile logitechs software still supports a decade old product. Also, g13 is first gen, super old, and orbweaver is 3rd gen gamepad.
I now own the 2nd g13. Never had problems with the keys and the software. But the stick in the right side was the first thing to worn out. It worn out after more than 5 years in the 1st (acceptable I guess) and after 2? in the second or less... I found out that the weight of my hand (I have big and heavy hands) was putting too much presure and squeezed the mechanism under it, and started characters go always left... I guess if they put something in between (or if I do, which I did in the second one, still usable after that) and make that area more durable and solid this won't be an issue. By the way, nice review but you talk too fast XD. Actually I went...backwards. I never used a keyboard to play any game, not only mmo. Always the g13 pad. I went one time to use it, but pissed me off very soon, couldn't use it.
I'm on my 7th year of using my G13, and only now has the joystick started acting up. After years of WOW, WildStar(RIP), Aion, 7D2D, Conan Exiles, and so on.
Very informative but I really wanted you to take a breath somewhere ;-). My own set up is a Razer Nostromo (yes, that old - like me) and a Naga 2014. I came here to see if there was anything better and you answered my question. Yes, buy another Razer when it fails.
Sooo what setup do you use for WoW pvp? Gaming mouse (with macros) and the keypad or game mouse (without macros) and keypad or game mouse with keyboard? I’m really curious since I’m kinda new to pc gaming, I play world of Warcraft but I like to play pvp more
Razer devices are really low quality. I had nostromo - it was too small for my hand. I bought orbweaber and button under just broke beacause it is peace of thin plastic. I bought second one and in half year d-pad started to stop respond on any actions, so I can't easy move forward or sides. I did my try to use G13, and it works good for me. Analog stick is great and you character moves any angle and not just 8 directions. Buttons are good as on G19 I like very much and not so noisy when I spam buttons for actions.. Screen is useless, but it is there so just have to live with it.
Regarding key binding: why do you need the special software? Cant you change the key binds in the game itself? I dont play MMOs so maybe that's why I dont understand, but in most of the games i play (FPS's) I can change a key bind in the options section of the game.
G13 supremacy, been using mine since they came out with few problems. Tried the Nostromo and found it a stiff keyed lump of junk. You forgot to mention that the G13 can also triple the number of keys.. you mentioned it for the Razer, so try and be unbiased please.
Have you seen the price of G13s on Amazon and E-bay? They were $80 new. They are now selling for $300-400 for new ones now that Logitech discontinued them.
I loveeeee my g13, unfortunately they aren't built with the best quality materials, all light cheap plastic pieces. Ive gone through 3 in the last 8 years, now if somthing goes i just fix with a part from one of the older ones as they're very easy to take apart and swap parts. If they made a new version of the g13 with mechanical keys and a better quality, more durable analog stick it would be hands down the best available option. my biggest issue is after a few years the analog stick will start to wear and it gets stuck in it's housing in certain positions because the analog stick is rubber and it's constantly rubbing on the housing's plastic edge, slowly wearing away at the stick, once worn through to a certain point that's when the function starts to decline and the stick begins to stick in certain directions. I'm going to pull the trigger and try the razer versions but I am so in love with the layout and size of g13 and having an analog stick i absolutely love for my q,w,e, binds, never having to waste actual keys for movement like you would the razers.
how would you compare the two joysticks? i have an orbweaver and am trying out the joystick for movement on the witcher 3 (primarily i play console and really dislike using WASD keys for movement lol) its okay so far, using the orbweavers joystick to move but the stick for the g13 looks like it would be much be much nicer to use what do you reckon?
Logitech G13 is discontinued, is there another option? I don't like the Razer Orbweaver because it has a hump where palm rest that is uncomfortable and you can't flatten it. thanks
Logitech doesn’t even make the G13, or any similar product anymore. Seems like razr is the only game in town for one of these now, and its about $80 for the cheapo one.
two notes. if you don't address the glue thing on the Razer it becomes nasty and liquidy and almost impossible to remove. if I got a new one I'd probably pull the rubber bits off on day one, clean the glue off and reglue. the second thing is the one thing I miss from the g13. I think that the thumb stick on the g13 is analog. it was a lot easier to use for me than the Razer.
ok ok ! i didnt even consider something different until i saw this video.. that being said - i game on a laptop, with a track ball mouse (i know.. the horror). but i have a question for upgrading to a gaming pad like this --- both of these look like theyre for use in the left hand. is that accurate? am i seeing that right? bc id certainly need something for the right hand...
I had a g13 it was o.k I moved to the nostramo then the Orbweaver ,I love the orbweaver its very comfortable and if you use it with the naga you are set for A great gaming experience.about the grip yes it slipped off so I reglued it and no problems.
awe, sorry to hear you had trouble with the logitech software. I fortunately had no trouble with my software. I had two G 13s. the first one crapped out on me but was under warranty, so i was able to get my second one for free. i still use my logitech g13 with no probs but was just window shopping for whats out there.
I just got the Orbweaver but am taking it back. Palm rest is the problem. It’s too high with no way to lower it. That’s why it’s hard to reach the keys for us small handed people. The palm rest is supposed to be for base of the palm, not the middle of your hand. It’s more a hand rest than a palm rest.
I liked the hardware of the G13 a lot more than the Orbweaver personally. I had two of them over a period of probably 7 years. The software is what threw me over the edge to Razer. I wish they'd make a G13 successor because otherwise I won't go back to one. After almost 5 years though, my d-pad is starting to wear out. I works great for the first 5-10 mins of gameplay, then it starts stuttering unless I press really hard. Thinking about the Tartarus V2 now.... unless a V2 orbweaver is coming.
im cajun and we are known for talking fast, but i wish you talked just a tad slower. but awesome video. i use the g13 but the switches are membrane and i wish they were cherry reds.
A tip to stop the rubber from peeling off is to clean all contacted surfaces with a baby wipe after use. It is the acids and oils from your skin that causes the rubber to swell and cause the glue to separate from the rubber. This is true for all soft touch rubber surfaces.
Tbh the learning curve wasnt that steep for me i already used custom keybinds in wow so i could easily remap them to my tartarus v2 plus my thumb can now do a shit ton more then just press the spacebar
you are totally right, i just got the tartarus v2 and when i finally had the chance i changed a few keybinds and start playing and i immediately hate it but i will do that, play with it for a few weeks and see how it goes
A tattooed girl, that likes cats, does nothing but play WoW and speaks so fast as if she had to finish the video before she was allowed to go to the toilet. Could it get any worse?
So I read somewhere that Synapse has a memory leak? (I saw it on a few forums and reddit) People were claiming that Synapse hogs either their CPU or RAM (again I'm just stating what I read). Did you notice this at all when using the Orbweaver? I want to get it but am afraid of this so called "memory leak" I read about :/ I'm not too incredibly tech inclined so I don't know much.
In terms of MMOs, how do these types of keypads fare compared to something like an MMO mouse like the Logitech G600? Seeing as how they're both designed to put more accessible keybinds at your fingertips. Is it better to use them in tandem with each other, or just one over the other?
