Personally used both of them and I can confirm the Razer one feels much more well made, though the clicky switches can wear off a bit quickly as far as I've heard and cause inconsistency. Just because someone prefers the feel of the Razer keyboard doesn't make them a "Razer fanboy".
I have the G213 keyboard to match my G502 mouse. I find it absolutely superb for gaming and I think more focus should be on your choice of mouse. The issues raised against the keyboard in this video, I find to be very trivial. The switches feel great for gaming and typing and the lack of individual key lighting is totally irrelevant to me. I also purchased my keyboard new for $50, making it a great price for a keyboard that performs the way it does. I can also control the RGB lighting in sync between the keyboard and mouse which is definitely a plus point for anyone who likes aesthetics.
I actually think a few of the points made in this video which supposedly give the points to the Ornata actually steer me towards the G213 instead... I do NOT want my keys to float on an ocean of light. I do NOT want my keyboard to shimmer and pulse like the floor in some sort of rave music video. I just want subtle, dim lights in a colour I find pleasing. Dim enough that I don't notice it when playing dark games in a dark room, bright enough that I can navigate them in aforementioned darkness. Why would I ever want individual keys lit up in their own colour. As long as I'm anchored on my main controls then I know where everything is and I don't need the WASD keys to pulsate in bright yellows to know that they are supposed to be used together for movement, like I'm somehow going to forget.
@Roblox Events and? Whats the problem still the razer is to expensive you pay more the lights then the keyboard it self. A LED is expensive did you know that?
Huh I don't get ANY flexing on my G213 - one of the reasons I LOVE it so much! It is solid AF! Also, I do like the wrist rest as I have my keyboard on the edge of my desk. Not only is there no flexing at all in mine - but it does NOT MOVE EVER! That rubber on the bottom really works on smooth surfaces! I can't speak directly for the Razer Ornata, having only compared it at MicroCenter against the G213 Prodigy, I liked the Prodigy's feel better so that is what I bought. I personally LOVE the feel of these keys, I never really understood so many people's OBSESSION with the feel of mechanical keys - given I DO like the feeling too, but a well built Spring+Dome keyboard like the Prodigy, at least IMO feels perfect! Also I don't know the technical specs of the Ornata, I DO know that the Prodigy has 1ms response time (1000hz polling rate - max USB spec) and I also know that it has N-key rollover, able to accept 9 key inputs at the EXACT same time! I half wonder if the build quality of the G213 hasn't gotten better in these last few months in RESPONSE to products like the Razer Ornata. Last review I watched, said some keys wouldn't work unless pressed dead center, I have yet to have that issue once, he also noticed some back-light bleed from a few keys whereas I looked in pitch black and can find none. And now you said you noticed some flexing, when in my experience, this Keyboard is perhaps the most solid non-metal keyboard I have ever felt! That is one of the other things that attracted me, the build quality and how incredibly solid it felt! But hey, that's Logitech for you! They make a LOT of good stuff, but sometimes their middle end stuff tends to have varying build quality, usually improving as time goes on. Like the G502 - my brother went through TWO of them dying on him, before Logitech shipped him a G503 as a replacement finally, and guess what? 6 months later - NO ISSUES!
I have been using the g213 every day for almost a year, and bought the ornata just this week. Already feeling ive should have gon with it from the beginning
@@eliasskaug1279 is the wrist rest comfatable even tho its plastic? i have the g pro but am tired of such a high keyboard and no wrist rest my wrist aches each day or should i just go for the ornata? pls help
Minato Namikaze if i had to start over and get my first ever keyboard, id go with the ornata for sure. It has good software, so the customization options are really great! And for the wristrest, its magnetic and moveable, which means you can sit however you please:)
@@VarissNI I don't think he's biased. He gave a reasonable explanation of why the razer ornata is better in every way, that reason being that it is more expensive.
My family never had any gaming peripherals since we didn't need any but our keyboard was getting old so we bought a G213 for my father as a christmas gift and as the first gaming keyboard I've used, it has a really satisfying feeling. A few years later, I'm looking at buying an ornata chroma and I cannot believe this video exists comparing the two. I still love the G213 but I really want to get the ornata chroma.
Distracting? Loud? Its a perfect keyboard for gaming and you clearly don't own one. The keys are shorter so you don't bend your fingers more like taller keys. Not to mention an amazing wrist rest
jazfromhouston I just try and present the information and let the audience decide but in this case the prodigy keyboard is really underwhelming. If you read comments in my other video of people ask me what I think is the best keyboard for the money I always say the corsair k70 lux just because I review a lot of Razer stuff doesn't mean that I am a fanboy, I'm not afraid to criticize flaws in their products either.
Brainbean I have a k70 Lux and approve of that. I had a brand new Razer Blackwidow Chroma and it didn't work, so that was a bust. I did have both of these keyboards in your video before my mechanical buys, and found that The Logitech Prodigy had way better lightning through the keys. Even though it did not have the white background and the software was garbage, can only hope they fix that.
i just got the keyboard and i got it on sale for around £40 and this keyboard is a lot better than you make it seem when you compare it to a razer yes ok razer is a big company that more people may trust but logitech specialise in hardware like keyboards and mouse so i think you should still give a fair review instead of just promoting the razer keyboard and also the sound on the mic is different from the sound it actually makes if you had it right in front of you and typing on it
One thing no video on the g213 seems to ever mention is the insanely low response time. I would never recommend the ornata for someone who wants to get into competitive gaming. I would absolutely suggest the g213 for someone who wants something cheap that will work at a competitive level.
After having own both of these keyboards I would actually prefer the G213 for typing but for gaming I would rather use the ornata but to each his own I guess. But I were to recommend a keyboard I would totally recommend the HyperX Alloy FPS not only is it mechanical its also the same price as the Ornata Chroma the only downside to the Alloy Fps is that its not Rgb
Lack of dedicated media keys is a deal breaker for the Ornata. Having to press FN and then find the appropriate media key in the Function zone makes what should be a quick task (turn music up or down, or pause it) take way too long. I don't understand why they couldn't have added another three keys to address this.
I was pleasantly surprised by the G213, picked one up for my dad for $35 on sale, he doesn't care about keyswitches, just wanted a light up keyboard for the utility factor. But the keys felt fine to me in the limited trial I gave it.
i have the g213 and i personally love the keyboard more for gaming than aesthetics i like this keyboard because it has a 2 ms response time which is good for competitive shooters!
No the Razer is mecha membrane thats so much better than Logitechs membrane nana keyboard plus the Razer looks better feels better rgb lightning is better wrist rest is better on Razer and cord and features are better than Logitech plus Logitech is over priced for a fricken full plastic membrane piece of uncomfortable shit with terrible dim lighting.
@@kaynendorr7408 Ornata is over priced, logitech is 40 bucks, and you prefer ornata cause of the lighting and that cause it's almost mechanical? Wow i thought you're smarter idiot
I just wish they had an ornata tournament edition or something because I don't have a lot of space left on my desk. But I bought the g213 and the g403 mouse FOR JUST 70$. YOU CANT BEAT THAT DEAL.
@@sage8634 they are literally the same build quality only difference razer is more "gamer" styled and a small metal piece to make it sound like a mechanical keyboard. Razer is for people who are dumb enough to pay for overpriced stuff. And logitech is for people who actually care about the value they are getting out of their purchase.
I own the G213 Prodigy I picked it up over 2 months ago now and it's still in a great condition , I clean it pretty often and it's surely a super good keyboard in my opinion , when it comes to the Ornata , I can agree it has more RGB lightning looks modern and fancy and it's a bit more expensive than the Logitech Progidy keyboard but in my personal opinion if I could compare between Prodigy and the Ornata I'd go for the Prodigy as it includes multi media buttons pretty nice RGB's and it's really easy getting use to and it's at a slightly more affordable price depending on where you buy it. That's just my opinion people have different thoughts on this topic but that doesn't mean I'm not a fan of the Ornata because it also has features that the logitech keyboard doesn't so as logitech has features that the Ornata doesn't . anyway's that was my opinion and sorry for the late comment. have a nice day :)
Go For Logitech.. Why ? Logitech is much better quality then Razer overall. I have used bot brand products & trust me Logitech works far better than Razer. G213 is cheap Ornata light is really not good for eyes Logitech software is really nice & easy to use. If you are really caring about all those light effects then trust me no1 using them for regular basis. Those are just gimmicks to raise price. Anyways the last choice is yours as it depends on your needs too but for gaming go for G213...Thanks.
dude our replies shows who is fanboy. I have mentioned the points I have like where you are just saying my post is bullshit & bosting about ornata without giving any proper advantages so good luck with your ornata. I never said ornata is bad.
Dark Lord I got the G213 today. AMAZING KEYBOARD! Your review really helped. Logitech is Better. I may sell my DeathAdder elite for A new Logitech mouse!!
If you're on a budget, why even buy any membrane at this price? Roccat has been making the isku for years and it's cheaper. Aside from the lack of rgb on the normal model, last I checked it was $60! $40 cheaper than the rgb ornata! It feels like Razer is really just milking their fans at this point.
have both, along with many other. the G213 has been my productivity keyboard it just has this silky smooth feel when using it for typing. the ornata sits in a storage bin not because its a bad keyboard, i just have better ones for gaming.
1/11/17, Having had my HP touchsmart, 23" for almost 8 years it didn't come w/a backlit keyboard; something you just can't get a-la-cart w/a new machine. So I got an aftermarket AZIO (non game) from eBay. What's great about this is you don't need a lamp---especially if you don't type so well. A Logitech mouse is also preferable for the extra button controls the standard mouse doesn't have. I'm now going to replace this machine w/an HP Pavilion 27" i7 processor, 1tb hd. This also comes w/standard kb/ms. I'll probably use this very kb & ms I'm using on the old machine. It seems nobody will customize an order, what comes in the box is what you get, if you want to customize you have to buy extra stuff. I notice many laptops now come w/backlit keys. :(
tested both, have em right here now and i can't confirm this comparison from my personal, subjective view. Ornata Chroma is pretty high, too high imo and the click sound is too loud. So typing may be a bit louder on G213, but (!) gaming is much more silent because you normally don't have a keystroke of the same strength when you game, so even a weak keystroke will cause a click sound on the ornata which is definitely louder than G213. Ornata Chroma is a very qualitative keyboard with more lightning features, the G213 lightning is more descret though if you ask me. So Ornata is probably better for the shooter genre because of the click / key feedback, but if you prefer a quieter keyboard instead of an extremely responsive (but pretty annoying) click experience then i recommend the G213.
I'm looking for a replacement for my Microsoft Sidewinder X4. It's a membrane keyboard with a quiet medium stroke. I fell in love with this keyboard and for the past 5 years it has been the best keyboard I've ever used. But, since it's discontinued I'd like to save what's left of it. I'm not a fan of mechanical keyboards simply because of the long stroke and loud sounds. Yes, I understand you can get silent keys but honestly I'm a key masher. Membrane is best for me. Thanks to your video I found the keyboard I want. The Ornata.
EmeraldGamez-Minecraft PvP the v2 is better, you can feel the difference of kailh and greetech, greetech ones feel much crisper than the kailh ones and fail less often
I felt like you where quite biased towards the Logitech keyboard there is nothing different between the Razers keys they are just membrane with 20 mil key presses same as the G213.
I'm a person that doesn't really care that much of RGB being an importance. 5-zone RGB is already pretty good for me I would say. The G213 does come cheaper than the Ornata, but I can tell that for only $70, your typing experience is already damn good. So, if you want a good typing experience and doesn't care much about RGB, the G213 is for you. On the other hand, if you put RGB on top, the Ornata is worth of a choice.
Thanks a lot for the good review mate, unfortunately i got the G213 before watching at this fine review, and for a gamer like which usually plays at night in a dark room the Razor will come much more in handy,i prefer a more polished illumination rather than the rainbow effect from the G213.
Except mechanical keyboards are obnoxiously noisy and feel floaty and abrupt while pressing. They're a surefire way to make me misophonic. Rather how does the g213 compare to the deathstalker?
When i saw the ornata when looking through bestbuy, I really wanted to get, that was a few years ago. Im about to start building my pc once the parts arrive and the ornata keyboard that I got feels very nice. I just really love the clicky and tactile feel and I admire the rgb customization software. And for a more biased opinion. I came from gaming on a laptop, so I appreciate the shorter size keycaps so that I could get used to the keyboard much more quickly. 9/10 i found that there are some inconsistency on the metal pins. I fixed them by literally just adjusting them (careful they are relatively thin) and they feel great. Take in mind that those defective pins only accounted for 2 keys across the whole keyboard
Razer Synapse doesn’t work for the Ornata Chroma on Mac... : / therefore you’re unable to do anything other than dim the constantly changing single color
I like typing on G213 but I hate looking on it. Don't like the blocky font, the illumination is very inconstistent so I just turn it off. Lock indicators are too bright, very distracting. Ornata has a nice and clean font with consistent illumination and I really like the clicky sound.
Do you think you could do a review of the Razer Synapse software? It seems to have a lot of interesting features that I haven't fully explored yet, and it's be really cool if you could go through them in a video.
Haha, funny you mention it. That video idea is on my white board right now. I will most likely make that video once I learn more about the software myself.
Hey ! I've discovered your channel a few days ago (which is very good!), as I was trying to find information about the Ornata keyboard. I have a question about it: if you don't use the wristrest, is the thickness of the Ornata annoying for a long-term use? Thanks !
NWLuluciole I used it without the wrist rest with no issues I didn't notice a difference between using a blackwidow or blackwidow x without for example
Not defending logitech but comparing similar keyboard's that have way to different price points is kinda dull. The Ornata is obviously better quality because you pay more for it, now Razer obviously exaggerated the price a bit but that always happends, anyways do not buy these keyboard if you need presicion and confort, these are casual keybaords that look perfect on paper but in practice they aren't that great. $69.99 vs $99.99 Geez.
turning keyboard slightly or even a more than 75 degree angle on the side will help lol, i personally use somewat 50 degree on the side for ow and gringecraft tho
Just to put something out there. The Razer Ornata cost 100 bucks. For that price you can easily get a mechanical keyboard that will blow this thing away. Don't even argue about "build quality" the "razer" certification. While it may be a good design, the price is just one of the main factors I have a 60 dollar mechanical cherry mx red keyboard sitting on my desk as I type this.
Agreed. I am extremely satisfied with the Ornata. Though to be honest, I never cared for the Logitech G213 Prodigy to being with. It did not feel right for my fingers.
Yeah, it's like modern gimmick, everyone needs to have one. The ear-raping sounds echo through the room proving that you're elite typist. Not to forget about finger fatigue, because everyone have girly fingers nowadays. I got Corsair K70 RGB with Cherry MX brown switches and I'm dying to move to membrane keyboard. While the Corsair keyboard aesthetically looks superior, the soldered mechanical switches are simply garbage. The metal contacts inside the switches wear down so fast that they start to produce keyboard chatter or miss keystrokes at all. One solution is to get appropriate software to eliminate excessive keystrokes. Else you can try take some really small pincers and wiggle those contacts while pushing a switch down. That was my problem, but there are more common problems with the switches that you need to eliminate with compressed air or even oil them, as by internet reasearch. Damn maintenance, many people simply RMA if under warranty. So much hassle for such price. It's all cool in RU-vid, but go into Corsair forum for example, there's a damn havoc. Finally there are these people who go with the flow of mechanical keyboards, but buy O-rings... that is also sort of me. I still love Corsair brand though, wish they would make some premium membrane boards as well. I've had multiple mice in past, mostly Logitech, LMB or wheel simpy wears down in time. My latest mouse is Corsair's and still going like a beast.
Went withe the Ornata. Wal-Mart had them for $50. Even if it wasn't on sale I would have paid a little extra for the better PADDED REMOVABLE wrist rest, more FEATURED RGB, and mid-height keys that git better hunder my medium size hands. I did try both at the store and the G213 was ok but to me it really felt like they took my basic Microsoft keyboard from 1998 and gamified it. It sounded and nearly felt exactly the same. The Ornata at least has a slight tactile actuation click that is more satisfying like a real mechanical switch. Not a fan bot either I got this keyboard for my wife to go with the her G305 lightspeed. I've gamed on a G910 and G604 lightspeed for years with no planes to ever change. I juat feel Razer made a better entry level keyboard. The G213 is usually a bit cheaper so if your budget is really tight I guess save another week and get a Ornata or Redragon. 😂
If i had to choose between these 2 keyboards, i'd go with ornata chroma since i'm a fan of rgb keyboards :D and btw is blackwidow x your daily use keyboard ?
I definitely pick da Logitech G213!! Its keys sound like an actual gaming keyboard while the Razor’s keys sound like a laptop’s. Plus, da wrist rest actually help for long hours of gaming. So Im Logitech all da way :P
I have the Corsair RGB Strafe Silent and don't like it at all. Typing accuracy is much worse after moving from my Apple Numerical Pro. Would the Ornata be more like typing on a chiclet keyboard or would it still be a lot like the Strafe (mechanical)?
Hey, you seem the best option around RU-vid for keyboard reviews and comparisons. I'm looking for a new keyboard, but can't decide on what switch I want. I don't mind the Razer Green or the MX Blues, I just don't want to wake up people in my house when gaming late. But I hear the Romer G/Red/Brown switches are some what mushy. But it needs to have customization RGB, if you can help, thank you!
Different Hell I would check out cherry MX Browns or RAZER Orange, something like a strafe RGB or k70 lux with cherry MX Browns would be my recommendation. Browns give you all the bump from the blues with no click. The romer g does feel a little squishy but the Browns don't. Reds won't give you any tactile feed back so it's up to you if you want that.
razer blackwidow chroma or x ? maybe deathstalker but the deathstalker has less rgb features you may wanne try razer blackwidow chroma or x with o-rings otherwise.
Ok so the point of this video I think is him trying to get us to buy the razer. Too bad I'm not buying it and too clicky and the Logitech is less clicky (no hate :))
