If only Gillette mass produced these again and made all those unaware of traditional wet shaving aware of what they were missing out on. Just the perfect razor for everyone. I have one in mint condition just waiting for when my son starts shaving, he will never suffer the pain of shit razors like I did.

I have a 1965 (K4) Aristocrat. I can see the nickel plating on the areas that the gold wore off. The knurling on the handle section and TTO knob has a reddish color showing through like red brass or copper with just some spotty nickel areas in the vertical lines.

The Slim is my favorite razor of all times. I own 4 of them, and I use 2 for myself, and 2 are "loaned" to my wet shaving boys. I say "loaned" because they are precious to me (My Precious). Sadly, I don't own a Slim Aristocrat, but if as you mention it can be found easily, I might try to get one for Christmas. Let's see.

Such a great razor. I feel like they are just a bit overpriced currently for a good example of one for a display piece. Personally, since I like to actually used my pieces on the daily, I'd rather buy a Rhodium plated Slim adjustable from you guys and have the best of both worlds: stunning beauty, and full usability. I could always get the case down the line, and if not, I have a wall rack where my razors hang.

I have an Aristocrat G-4 from 1961 in the box but it’s missing the blades but also the instructions and warranty cards (+ outer box). Is there a way to get any of them to make my collectible complete? Thanks for the help.

I purchased the aristocrat Gold safety razor back in March I got the two of them first one the blades are still in his package not opened the second one the blades are still in the original case one blade was taken out to be used both of my dynamite the first one was a package unopened Will never be used but the second one Will be used

Just found the same razor in a cupboard but the blades say exported. I am debating with myslef whether to keep it safe or use it.

In 1961 it took $35 to buy one Troy ounce of gold. Currently, it would take +/- 1300 of those same dollars to purchase the same Troy ounce. So $5 adjusted by this metric would equate to roughly $185 and using the “very expensive” description which was made in this video, would be accurate. A razor today costing below $50 would be considered inexpensive. I submit FWIW.

Hi Matt, I have a slim adjustable aristocrat. What is the best way of cleaning a gold plated razor?

David a dip in diluted battery acid for a few seconds. Then into an ultrasonic cleaner. Then a very light buff with one of our polishing cloths. Anything else will strip the gold off with ease.

This thing I first picked up at a thrift store for $4 with its own case. I thought it was a Chinese piece of crap until I brought it home and saw the Made in USA plastered everywhere and noticed the heft and quality. Old school products are just much nicer.

Although it isn't necessarily esteemed nearly as highly as the other Gillettes you have covered in videos, I'd like to see one on the Slim Twist, as I understand there are different versions.

Found this old man on sale where I live (Egypt) where I’m the only traditional wet shaver I know haha. Its for sale at around 55 dollars without it’s box. Is it worth it? And would re-coating it be a good idea or should I leave it as it is? Also how would it compare to the All Stainless Steel Feather AS-D2 as it sells here brand new with the base at an astronomically lower price (75$), which should I get?!

John Grinnell no. Open comb was phased out 20 years before the advent of the adjustable.

Are you still reading the comments 3 years after the video was released?You are saying that if your house burned down, you would would pobably let the Aristocrat burn with it. Could you tell me which razor you woud NOT let burn with the house but take with you to safety?
