Since I've modded my Razor Dirt Rocket MX650 with the Fast Scooters "Over Volt" Kit, added a 13-Tooth 25H front sprocket, and a fourth 12V SLA battery.. I haven't done another range test or run time test, so today I will be doing just that.

Question. I have a stock mx650 that I will for sure be upgrading like this later in the future. Im wondering how the stock motor will react to the overvolt kit. Will it burn out quickly? Does it overheat? I was just riding around the trails by house and trying to go up hills when I smelled something burning and the motor had some smoke coming from it. Just wondering if the overvolt kit is worth it for the stock motor or will it just absolutely fry it when riding on dirt and going up hills. Maybe do a hill climb test video? BTW, love this series, keep it going!!!!
@PatOutdoors
@PatOutdoors 2 года назад
Thanks! I've actually been trying to burn up the stock motor so I have an excuse, but have failed so far. I even did a burnout for 5 minutes with zero break off the throttle just to try to put stress on it (my video after this one.) I got impatient and ordered a KUNRAY brushless kit, but not planning on installing it just yet. I want to do more testing with the stock motor.

Could you add a 1800w motor to it and would it be compatible or is there a watt limit to the 4 12v batteries
@PatOutdoors
@PatOutdoors Год назад
Depends on the controller output. These brushed controllers can't produce more than 1000W so there's no point of putting a bigger brushed motor on. At that point, get an 1800W BRUSHLESS 48V motor/controller kit.
@olgachorna2063
@olgachorna2063 Год назад
@@PatOutdoors So the overvolt kit controller cant produce more than 1000w watts or are you talking about the stock controller and also would a vevor 1800w motor kit work?
@PatOutdoors
@PatOutdoors Год назад
@@olgachorna2063 I was talking about the overvolt kit controller. I wouldn't even try this on the stock controller. Yes, a vevor kit will work, that's what I used on my other MX650 for a while, if you want to go over my later videos.

Would you get more range if you added one of the the 15ah version to the 3 stock batteries?
@PatOutdoors
@PatOutdoors 2 года назад
I don't think so, not without having all (4) batteries be a 15ah. Once the (3) 12ah batteries lose charge and drop voltage, the controller would likely cut power so the 4th being a 15ah wouldn't make too much of a difference.

I installed the exact same Overvolted Scooters kit on my MX650 yesterday. I followed the directions in your first two installation videos (thanks!). According to my phone app, I'm only getting a 5 MPH increase (22.5 mph) on flat asphalt with a 70-pound rider, 13T sprocket, and brand new batteries. I don't know why I'm not getting the 10mph that you're seeing. Any idea as to what might be the issue?

If you add a 4th battery and wire it in a series, it’s naturally an overvolt to 48v. If you want more range, consider getting a lithium battery pack that’s higher capacity like a 20ah or 25AH. My 48v 20ah lithium pack got me 22 miles of range before
