Superb video and shave! I've got my RazoRock Hawk today. works very well for me. The cola post shave splash you did review is awesome, I will always keep a bottle in my den. I agree with you: there is really nothing better than a good synthetic brush!
I've got the same results with badger brushes, that's why I own only one 2 band badger from maggard. It's good to have one in the den, it reminds us why we love synthetics! On the first shave with the hawk i felt like i don't get the right angle, but then i noticed it's pretty the same as with my Mühle R89. Maybe i will use the hawk for my first headshave. I will let u know how it worked for me!
+Rino cheers rink! Yeah I don't think single edge razors are for me! I will try one of the modern Gem style razors eventually but I'm happy with my razor selection at the moment!
Cris, I too have quite sensitive skin. A while ago I was getting irritation shaving with things I thought should be free from it. Eventually I figured it out, at least for me. While I adore Stirling soaps I have discovered I don't react well to the cream balms they make. I think I react somewhat to witch hazel, Thayers too but very mildly. I figured it by a handful of hours after a shave I applied some unscented Stirling after shave balm and in a short time I had irritation. I just thought I'd share my experience, maybe it is helpful.
Much better . Your neck and the skin reactions before looked rough . Probably sensitive skin and some ingredient in a soap . I had been thinking it was possibly Nickel . Many people have a skin reaction to that metal . Like barbers using scissors . Beauty of a Brush . Also soaking a natural hair Brush is not only for water retention , but to soften the hairs , so there's no breakage . Thanks Cris
I can see how much longer you take to lather with the natural hair. still obsessed with it though 😋 and love the use of "learning curve" ;) well said, so glad you had a great shave Cris! great to hear. have the same with my ATT M2. my favourite razor but not the best for a daily driver
Chris James for a daily shaver I feel the open comb just feels tough on the skin over a safety bar. it's not that the razor is too aggressive (although it is very very efficient) it's just easier for me to use my feather ASD2 daily. the M2 is still my absolute favourite
Spence Frankel the M2 is very angle and blade specific. I have found using a good cream and blade helps get smooth shave. I started using the Persona blues in the M2 are really good for me ymmv
Chris James it's not the blade exposure and leading to irritation, it's the teeth on the open comb. If I shave ever second day it's easy, but daily after about a week it feels slightly uncomfortable dragging the stainless steel teeth over my skin
Chris I have the Razor German 37 Slant and as I look at this one I don't want it because of how "high" the top cap is and I get a wonderful shave from the 20 Razorock Slant ! Kit
Yeah the Wunderbar is the only slant that has graced my face. It’s a wonderful shaver and works extremely well. I don’t envisage too many more slants hitting my channel as the Karve Razor has taken over hahshs
I have been on a synthetic acquisition binge ever since I revisited using synthetics that until now, I could not stand. In the last week, I have purchased 7. Love them and haven't touched my boars.
In order to be fair to myself, a little over 2 years ago when I started wet shaving, synthetics were floppy and limp like a flaccid dick. They have really come a long way, especially since I like backbone on my brush. My lathers now are outstanding. Thanks
I don’t think I could daily shave with it now given that I prefer a much milder shaver these days. But back when I used it I reckon I could have gotten reasonably good daily shaves from it. It require a soft touch always and loads of concentration though!
