The "Red" Unit arrived in Hershey mid morning on May 23, 2011. After breaking down the train, the Animals were starting to unload around 2:30 in the afternoon.
I've seen "The Greatest Show On Earth" and being one of the bigger circuses, I got to look inside to see how they treated these animals, and I can say it is with care. The wilder animals such as elephants, lions, zebras, are taken to specific farms when they are not in show (which sadly they are in show a lot) but when they are no longer suitable for preforming, they are taken to animal care or zoo's instead of being slaughtered. Although they might not be able to live as natural as wild animals live, they are still treated like I guess you can say, a domestic animal, with care, food, grooming, and no more pain than a natural whip, which for most animals is just a sting to remind them what they should be doing. I'm not saying I'm for animal's in circuses, but I will say these guys handle them with more care then I have seen with other circuses. They all have specific handlers that know what the animals need.
Ben Adams i may be wrong but it possibly doesn't usually carry elephants just big animals they didn't think about it when it was being made just a theory I may be wrong
I took a guided tour through North Korea and I can tell you that it's a great place and people are treated with care. I know the UN gives them a hard time but I saw no human rights violations while I was there. That's how stupid you sound.
Even so, would an Elephant naturally spin around in circle, jump on each other's backs or go into a dark indoor space with flashing lights of multiple colours; loud, booming music and hundreds if not thousands of loud cheering people? I think not.
I chased the last circus train all day out of West Virginia on its last run. Sad. Our family went to the circus every year and I have tons of circus train videos that I made in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
Say what you want but the woman with the knee brace has no business handling horses if she is jabbing at their mouth for doing nothing wrong. Disgusting
Those animals look pretty well behaved for train travel. There is on girl though that doesn't look like she knows how to handle animals very well...the chick with the knee brace. PETA gives these people are really hard time, but am sure sometimes they deserve it. It's a traveling job, but at least they aren't horse meat. There are freaks everywhere.
+Gary Plastek pretty sure they get a lot of hay out there they are not underfeed at all like i was expect to see they pritty good condition to :) i guees its one of the 'best' cricuss animal thing i've seen ... they are realy soft with them give them time i've seen lot lot worse then this :/
+Relax in Time They are in good shape but while they are transporting the horses they DO NOT FEED THEM OR LET THEM HAVE WATER. THEY CAN'T HARDLY EAT WITH THE BIR IN THEIR MOUTH. IF A HORSE GETS HURT OR SICK THEY DO NOT STOP TO HELP THEM EITHER. AND BY THE WAY, THEY USE TASERS ON THE HORSES TO MAKE THEM MIND.
I don't understand why they are hauling the horses in their bridles. Because there is no change of tack it means the horses are tied in the trailer with the rope attached to the bit. Any good horseman knows to never ever ever tie a horse with the lead attached to the bit, it is very dangerous. No one that is a horse professional would do this.
+Lisa Kitty How do you the horses arent in stable boxes without any tack on, and a bridle is slipped on before the horse is removed from the stable box? Did you get inside the train and ask the horse how he is transported?
+Supermom Flyaway The first ones getting off the train and going into the trailer have no halter on under the bridle. The handlers bring the horses in the trailer one at a time and when they come out they are not holding the bridle. You don't have to be in the trailer to figure that one out.
geezus christ, they dont have halters on when you see them so you freak out.. Stop making assumptions. Otherwise you would have to assume the opposite could also be possible. In that they own the train and the extra tack is left on the train. lol. Less negativty, less critisim. Just enjoy seeing a video of some magnificent creatures
+Lisa Kitty meeeeh ... don't think they are tied with a rope attached to the bit in the trailer nether... cause... i don't realy see a horse stap on a trailer ? pretty sure they have halters... BUT !!! look to the next video ;) every animal has a halter on when loaded on the train again guess they use the bit cause they need to walk a little fr sure no panic can break out
This is animal abuse. It's not fun and never will be. Don't buy tickets. Boycott instead. Have you ever stopped to wonder how these innocent animals are made to act so unnaturally? Please, for the sake of these beautiful animals' freedom. Don't buy tickets. Coz then you'll only be supporting animal cruelty.
The cruelest show on earth, wake up everybody, circus animals are not treated with kindness but utter cruelty with bull hooks, it looks good for the cameras, boycott, these poor creatures are tied up with chains all day,they do not belong in circuses.
I look at the horses and elephants coming off the train and I must say that they are absolutely beautiful and look so well taken care of. But, don't tell the goons at Peta about this reality. The animals looks lively and happy but don't tell that to PETA. The destroyer of America's circus. "THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!"
Do you know that they don't hit the elephants with the bull hooks, they prod them. The skin is between 1 and 2 inches thick. And why would anyone hurt the thing that makes the show great? Everything an elephant does in the show is a natural act that they mostly know already; give the animal some credit for being smarter than YOU are, Christina. They're treated better than most people are at their jobs.
Also, there is no reason to believe that just because they exploit the elephants for money, they don't abuse them. You know who else makes money off of animals? Dog fighters. So you're an idiot.
Why is the cruel cow with glasses and a knee brace, keeping jagging the horses mouths no reason , pure cruelty, and who would transport horses with no leg protection....
I am pretty sure they did not let them graze while waiting for the safety of the horses. The right away area around the tracks can be pretty nasty, there's usually trash and other nasty debris that could harm a horse. Not to mention the fact that many areas like that are sprayed with weed killer.

+zhinka huh no actually horses can't throw up "silly city person" like the person above you said it's physically impossible for them to that's 1 reason why colic can occur with them(if you don't know what that then look it up) research before you comment next time. and the the 1st commenter they probably just didn't want them to eat some people don't let their horses eat while wearing bits (metal part in their mouth) because some have said they can choke. but they probably just didn't want them to that's my best answer

They’re yanking on their mouths! People don’t understand that horses are EXTREMELY sensitive. I’m glad this circus was shut down. Especially seeing as the undercover footage shows far worse abuse.
One of the RBBB units hit Denver every year when I lived there. I had a friend who modeled the train, and would change the cars every year to match that year's train! When I was young, Royal American Shows came to my area every June: almost 100 cars with a carnival bigger than some amusement parks!
It's so frustrating and sad that people cannot see right through this facade. I see most of us still have the mentality from the slave trade era. This is animal abuse. How can you not see that? These animals don't belong here, in captive being made to do things that aren't natural to them. Come on people, it's time we gave these poor innocent souls a voice. Without us intervening, they're doomed to a life of slavery, constant abuse and torment. Let's speak for these animals. Let's set them free. They don't deserve these. Please, guys, let's BOYCOTT circuses and put an an end to animal abuse. We are the ones who can save them from their unending misery by being their voice. They need us. Let's not fail them. Like we failed Tyke and Beulah and Karen.
