RBMN 425: The Autumn Leaf (Part 1) 

Great video seeing the leaves being blown off the trees by steam engine was awesome!

We are lucky to have such a well run railroad in eastern PA that is steam and excursion friendly. I can’t wait for 2102’s return. It’s a shame that the new head of Amtrak has to be such a jerk and ban most excursions, including steam excursions and their Autumn Express which had a few rare mileage excursions on NS ex-Reading and LV lines which have been freight only for decades. I enjoyed the 765 ride when it came to my area, we boarded East of Bethlehem and went to Pittston and return over NS and RBMN. It is very, very rare to be able to ride any NS line in the Allentown area, as well as NJ and Reading. Now the window of opportunity has closed possibly for a long time to ride the NS major lines in eastern PA and NJ. No more NS steam excursions or Amtrak Autumn Express. But, we still have tourist railroads to ride and the RBMN is currently the longest steam operation in PA. I rode behind 611 at Strasburg last month. Great ride, but Strasburg is so short. 765 could give longer rides in Ohio at CVSR. And no, riding the same short ride twice or more isn’t the same as one longer excursion. Across the US there are multiple longer steam excursions like at TVRM, Grand Canyon, SRI in Michigan, and UP Big Boy.

Shame this was cancelled for 2020 due to covid at least the christmas trains are still on. But this will be the last time 425 will be running since I heard from a friend of mine who got info on R&N's plans on what'll be happening after 2102 is done. To be more precise 425 will be pulled once 2102 is operational since 425 is 2 years away from needing a rebuild so it makes sense why.

I know this is sorta of topic but anyone think that 2102 might possibly be operational before 2019 is over? Since the reason 425 ran late this year is there trying to complete the work to have her up and running again And I'm pretty sure no one knows the answer but I wonder why that full dome car is only used for the autumn excursions on the blue mountain and reading ?
