Always like to see new battery tech (not new but new for Gens Ace), plus with the influx of noobs into the RC hobby these safeguards are great! Guessing the price point is gonna be up there though. I'm on a Zeee budget these days 😂
There is so much hype around this battery that I don't understand. all the "features" that the button provides can be done far more accurately with a two-dollar cell checker. As for the overcharge prevention function, I have never used a lipo charger that would allow me to overcharge a cell. If your lipo charger will let you overcharge your pack you need a different charger. As for the self-discharge function, the discharge is a very low rate and will take forever to discharge a battery of this size and would only be useful if you don't know anything about lipos which if that is the case just spend a little time educating yourself. if you're not storage charging your batteries when you're done using them you're doing it wrong . That said great video Greg I always liked your reviews even if I don't like the product.
As someone who had a pack go up in their home on a charger that I know was absolutely set up correctly, that took out 3 other chargers next to it and caused fire damage to a wall, I’m good with any little device manufacturers want to add to packs for extra assurances. Sure the discharge rate is low for the self storage, but it’s something. And the button is a quick convenience thing. I agree if you’re at the bench a checker is much better, but for a quick field check it’s a neat add on. Thanks for watching as always!!
Steadfast RC- I agree 100%, this is overpriced hype. A good Lipo charger is what almost everyone already has. And a cheap cell checker is way better. Why spend $185-$192 for one darn battery?

Hey RCDriver _Online----Yes or no...were you given these batteries for free provided you gave a positive review? Same with Exocaged, everything was too positive indicating he also received his free for a positive review. But are they truly worth $185 to $192 for the regular dude when you can get about 2 or 3 good normal batteries for that high price?
Most of the stuff he does is given for free to him… so yeah, not the most unbiased reviews on the internet, not to mention he doesn’t really use most of this stuff on a daily basis to really give a informe, tested and solid opinion about it
I mean I think the guys been the industry for quite a long time. From a racers standpoint, most everything is always said checked out. As far as opinions and reviews as far as I can tell. And he has a great reputation in the business so I don't think you should be questioning as if he was just some scrub off the street.

I am all for the smart technology in LiPo batteries. Anything to help ensure safety while we can continue to enjoy the hobby sounds good to me. I just hope the batteries fit in whatever rig I use.
It's kinda cool but I'm assuming the price of these is pretty crazy. Considering you can plug a 2 dollar lipo alarm onto the ballance plug and get a readout of every cell level plus a warning at a voltage of your choice I'm not sure this button with a much more vague read out really cuts it. What they need to do is build a lipo alarm into the battery, have it built into the casing and then pass the ballance port through so you can still connect for charging. Then pressing a button on the battery to get a readout of each cell would be more useful in my mind... And it only needs to cost 2 dollars more than a regular battery right?
Thought I'd share this in case it might be useful for other: This battery is not suitable for Kratons 6s bashing. We'll stick with Basher Pro. The top black cover of this battery CANNOT withstand bashing in BMX parks or skate parks, jumps, etc. with Arrma Kraton 6s or Notorious 6s; with ours, the top black cover of this battery got loose after just 4-5 BMX and skate park runs and it was almost coming off...so we had to duct tape it to prevent further DAMAGE. The cells are great (the typical GA good battery), high voltage is great, the "smart options" are great ideas...this battery might be OK with likes of Infraction or other RC's that don't go to BMX or skate parks...unless GA changes the cover's design, this battery won't cut it. Disappointing, but the battery is still functional (thankfully). I've notified GA, as well. Their Bashing Pro version on the other hand has been rock solid for over a year.
one thing i think would be cool is if you could plug your balance cord into your esc and have the battery % sent to your remote to be able to monitor battery level remotely. Seems to me like something the engineers could figure out but then again maybe not
The technology, it never seems to amaze me anymore, the batteries are amazing, I'm wondering what the price tag is on them, I know what I'll be investigating today!! Good information as always Greg!!

Ahhhh I dont know how I feel about this yet. Its cool that lipos are becoming more advance but I dont want to be paying the same for a lipo as it does a RTR. Premium batteries are already 100 plus.
Great battery!! Good to see someone giving Spektrum some competition in the smart battery world. But it is getting closer to July we want to hear any hint of info about the arrma's 4s line.
Does anyone know if this is using the same in pack technology as the iSDT tech rebranded by Horizon/Spektrum? I know iSDT has a bunch of patents on this technology, and this is basically taking that tech and making it standalone without the smart charger. I would be curious what this pack reads as, if you plug the balance lead into a Smart LiPo checker. As all iSDT smart tech packs are universally compatible with the technology.
I have an unrelated question that I hope someone can answer. If 3S lipo's are best suited to XT60 connectors and 6S lipo's is best suited to XT90 , what happens when two 3S batteries are connected in series to make 6S power? Should the connectors then be XT90?

Were getting too Smart , next youll need their special chargers ( already implemented in some brands) & thats why i shun these great ideas . I know ,im always so GD objective but look @ the new line of Smart Helicopters from a well known brand. lol they been troublesome & far from smart. Enjoyed the peek as always, thou. 👍
Smart Lipos are not new. It's nothing more than promotion and maybe new for Gens Ace. For example "Hacker Modellbau" has lipos with MTAG-Chip. Includes a button for charge state and wireless telemetrie. But yes is new for bashing Lipos. The sense is not quite clear to me because for a basher its not so important as for RC aircraft but yes, if you have several of them and do not know which is full, then the button is useful. Saves the time for connecting a liposchecker. But smart Lipos much more important for RC aircraft, ships and submarines.
It's so advanced it only shows 4 lights letting you know if the battery is low or not? Come on seriously? With a huge case like that i was expecting they put in led display that when you press the button is shows all the volt of each cell. That would be way cool, better than 4 stupid lights just turning on. Lol
Even if your rc can accommodate the size of the battery, and the extra weight or cost doesn't bother you, whatever, but the takeaway of this seems to be another "feature" teaching beginners not to properly monitor battery health with a cell checker.. maybe I don't understand the purpose of this but every time I use or stop using a battery it's checked and balanced
I have the gens ace 11,000 mah 100c 4s and to be honest, I wish I never bought them. I'm not saying they are bad batteries, but they just don't compare to the smc 9700 mah 120c 4s. I ran them in my dbxle 2.0 and they didn't last as long as the smaller smc's did. They are the most expensive batteries I have and I was disappointed in the performance.
Worst, I bought two. 1 the button is 💩. Two 10 000 gone to zero. Don't buy them. And the front black panel is trash. I have over 30 lipos, they are the worst
Doubt they’ll fit in any traxxas where the usual mug crowd are. Led lights for mode? Your esc does this. You can spend 2 dollars for an alarm. Don’t buy this junk.
