Hard to believe one field could have THIS much lack of flying talent in one place at one time. I'd never fly with these people. But I'd sure watch them for a while.

It all depends on the plane. If the plane has a high power to weight ratio you will just let it go. , a jet will need a really good push to get enough air over the tiny control surfaces for it to be stable in first seconds of flight. They are all different. Usually the best angle is just a few degrees off horizontal .
