Love it, there needs to be more rc hydro's in the world, too many V's....not that there's anything wrong with v bottoms, just hydro's are way cooler

@@IRONCLADRC No it's totally fine! Just glad you said a subscriber ! You don't have 2 mention my name!! It's all good bro!! I just got my LC Racing 1/14 scale EMB-MT monster truck yesterday! Can't wait 2 try it on 3s lipo! Was surprised it came with a 2s lipo! Dang winter ! Can't run boats all year round here!! ( Minnesota).

Tip: On some they put a deflector in the front. It's like a wing flap facing down to keep air from building up. 😊
@IRONCLADRC
@IRONCLADRC 2 года назад
On some boats that's a must. Idk if this boat would need a deflector? The tunnel & Sump bottom are very low profile? I may try a 3 blade like some one suggested in the comments

A little sponson dance is a good thing. it means you are producing enough lift to keep it just barely flying above the surface. Watch some full-sized unlimiteds run and you will see they do the same thing. I think it ran better this time as the aft end wasn't so "wet" running. A tad more depth may help.
@IRONCLADRC
@IRONCLADRC 2 года назад
I watched there full season last year. They "dance" in the straights full throttle flying. I've had limited experience with running Hydroplanes, there's definitely a learning curve. I may put the strut back up and drop a weight up front on the next outing or try a 3 blade prop

@@IRONCLADRC Remember: Every given hull has its limits.. You are right at the edge of that hull's capability in anything but dead calm water. That's one reason I warned about 3S. That's essentially the same power system you had in your rigger with the green outrunner. In fact, this motor has a longer can (more torque at the cost of some Kv) when compared to that green outrunner so it should have that percentage more power available. Put a modern turbine in a '50s hull and you are asking for problems. Put too much in this hull and it will become an aircraft; an aircraft with no flight controls.... 😱 That's one of the big challenges with small boats: Because of their small size, little ripples on the pond are like huge rolling waves to them and often make good "jump ramps". When running something that relies on air to provide part of the lifting force (cats and hydros), these things can easily exceed their limits. You can push those limits by modifying the airflow in the tunnel, but again, this has its limits. That's one reason you can push outrigger designs harder: They have far less aerodynamic lift, relying primarily on hydrodynamic lift to reduce the hydrodynamic drag. Lastly, I think your balance is good with just 3 and some-odd grams on the prop. Strut depth first, airflow control in the tunnel next.

If I had a 2s battery for the boat I would of ran it, at the moment the only battery I have that will work with the 1:20 is the 3s 30c 1300mah. I have a couple different lipos on the way. The green t-rex helicopter motor is no way comparable to the motor in the 1:20 not at all, the motor in the 1:20 is more powerful by a long shot kv is lower and yea the length is longer. Alot more torque than the green one by far. Even if the kv and length were the same I personally think the copter X motor woud out turn the green one 2 to 1. Personally I think the boat was running top. I'm gonna tune the boat and try different stuff that's how I learn, I appreciate all of the information it's been a huge help. I can't wait to see your atlas 1:20 on the water or the Donna.
@Dr_Jet
@Dr_Jet 2 года назад
@@IRONCLADRC I'm going to try and video the Dona running this Monday. One limitation of living in the middle of a desert is ponds are few and far between. I think you have the Atlas running better than 90% of it's capability. Tinker, tune, and test to get that other 10%. 😉

There a little curve in the strut mount. Did you install yours with it curled up or down. I installed mine last night curled up. I may have to flip it. Setting up a 16. 5" DF Vortex.
