The tray for mounting the servo looks extremely robust and overkill? Agreed those servo screws are the business - Model Fixings is really good for miniature nuts and bolts. Thanks for posting this useful video - I will now order a battery indicator for each of the planes I am building. Thanks
Brilliant videos Mark, thanks.... I just recently restored an old Magnum GP25, I brought her back to life - she was a yard sale find here in Canada I think you call that a boot sale over there! You have made me aware of the perfect plane to build for that engine. I love the Piper Cub design. This is a great tutorial, I downloaded the plans... now, to get the materials!
Another great vídeo, Mark, thanks. I added the decals I made to the Outerzone site: outerzone.co.uk/download_file.asp?planID=5160&FileType=Supp&Filename=Piper_Cub_J-3_oz5160_decals.pdf My latest kit (from eBay) came only with the bear Cub decals and I seem to remember that, back in 1981 when I built it the first time, those where the only decals in the box. Any way, I measured the letters from the plans and came up with these. The pdf is vectors except for the green backgound bear cub, which is the scan from the original decals. It can be imported to your favorite DTP or CAD software for editing. The font for the letters is Amarillo USAF but it has to be transformed into curves and edited in order to copy the lettering of the plans. I hope it helps.
Hi there, I know I'm lil bit late but I hope you will answer so!! How much grams does this plane almost took? So I can adjust the thrust : ratio of plane and get a better brush less motor for it, Almost between 1500g to 1700g or more?
On the plans the weight range for this build is 1500 - 1600g, which will obviously depend on your construction and the size of battery and motor - good luck with the build 😀
@@MarkRobinson555 Thanks Mark, I'm trying to convert glow to electric engine of this model ! Lil bit perplexed about the results, but what do you think about converting this exact model into electric? Will it be a success? I'm using a brushless motor giving about 880Watts and almost perfectly give a thrust of 2200g. I'm confused about that basically glow engine is lil bit more bigger than electric brushless motor so, but the motor funtions well for given required weight and overall, and comparatively the model looks lil bit bigger than I expected. But weight : thrust is perfectly fit with motor. So what's your opinion about it 😁?
I think this would be fine as an electric conversion, but I can not really advise you on the motor set up, it is not somthing I have a lot of experience with, sorry. Hope you get it all sorted. I would look at other similar plans and kits and see what motors are suggested, to get an idea what size could be used
Hi there, the servos were www.theworldmodels.com/store/product/4265/TWM-Standard-Servo-SV4032-B-190mm-Cable-4-1kg-Torque The engine was a Thunder Tiger GP25. Hope that helps 😀
