kNot as scale looking but they make clear Monokote covering. I put it down first then carefully cut the windows out of the color covering. Tack the color in place with low heat and carefully go around the windows tacking everything down. Then go back over with slightly hotter heat to seal everything up. Looks pretty cool when done.

Thanks for sharing this Mark. Your attention to detail like this is awesome, and I agree - it looks so much better than a stuck on sheet. Can you use plastic recycled from product packaging or do you have to use a special acrylic?

OverSiteSurveys Hi there, thank you for your kind words 😀 I am sure that you could use acrylic packaging, and what a good idea, as long as its clear and good enough quality, would certainly be good to try! Thanks again 😀

You should be able to use a PET HDPE bottle from Coke or Pepsi or any PET HDPE bottle for windows generally speaking it will have to be heated around 250 to 300 degrees F to prevent pearlization at the edges where it's being stretched. It helps if you would heat up your pad first then heat the plastic this will reduce shrinkage and pearlization and other defects and be sure to hold the pad in place until the plastic has cooled completely; this will prevent having to reheat it again.

Where did you get the acrylic from? thanks
@MarkRobinson555
@MarkRobinson555 Год назад
It was something I recycled from food packaging

@@MarkRobinson555 thanks. So you don't know the exact type of plastic? Looks really clear and I'm struggling to find something similar. Thx

You can use acetate sheet, the type they use on the cover of spiral bound documents

Mark what glue did you use for the fuselage, the plan on wood , type of plastic on widows ? Thnx
@MarkRobinson555
@MarkRobinson555 2 года назад
On the fuselage I used PVA, white wood glue. The plastic for the windows was the type of plastic container that you get food in. I recycled it! Hahaha

What’s the average time for a glued joint to stick properly ?
@MarkRobinson555

With PVA I would leave it overnight
