RC Plane Crash, Big Decathlon. 

We all love the expert, what is the link to your channel where you explain and demonstrate the correct procedures and the statutory statement that you have always had a perfect landing? Or flight for that matter.

My thought exactly. Someone that needs to stand behind the plane for takeoff shouldn't be flying something this big.

Nothing wrong with standing behind your plane for takeoff as you can see if it's going straight. The only reason people fly from the side these days is all the safety rules,- making everyone stand in a little box 'for safety reasons'. I find it distracting bunched up with with other people and like to move around when flying. I've been flying for 50yrs, and most people used to stand behind the model. We used to fly off mowed circles in paddocks, so there was no side. The number of crap sideways take-offs by people standing on the side, flying big planes, and putting them into the spectator areas shows it's no better. You should fly your models however you feel comfortable. I fly 100mph capable converted 60" IC planes with no problems, and I stand behind my models wherever possible,- nothing to do with confidence, it's accurate control. This guy flew perfectly fine,- probably didn't have much rudder authority at such a low speed, and probably his first flight with it.

@@jrbaeronz9840 Do you land with it coming towards you so that you can see if it is coming in straight and lined up with the runway? Do you move around so that you are always behind the plane when it is flying? I would enquire as to why you can't see that it is going straight from side on. In relation to the original comment you don't need rudder to fly, I have had a number of 2 channel planes, aileron and elevator, no throttle and they can be flown quite well, "snap roll, spins and stall turns are a bit awkward though". But then I'm only a newbie at 40+ years flying and have never had an issue standing side on, even on a 1,000 acre property and heaven forbid, Mode 1.

@@hayloft3834 I have 15 models at the moment, (built and designed over 30) 3 of them vintage 3ch and they all fly fine. Didn't know I needed your permission to stand behind my models . I fly in a huge park so there is no reason to fly from the side. If you like flying from the side, the you do you, -don't be a sarcastic wanker. BTW, where are all your videos taken from behind, documenting your perfectly square on take-offs from the side? -I don't see any. Who said you don't need rudder, ? nobody mentioned that. This video wasn't a crash, just a minor excursion, even real planes do it.

@@fredosansil ok. My friend flying 3 Decathlons from 2,5 to 3,5 metres. I saw many not good landings but alwas his planes were fine. Maby to get big size and light weight structure is thined and this is the reason of low resistance.

Bullshit statement. You do not judge a pilot because he is staying behind his RC plane upon take off. We at out flying field we all stand behind the RC plane upon take off. We have a flying field not in afloat area and just behind 6 m a forest which affects design on wind directions take off and landing. He failed to judge on landing the distance and alignment of aircraft toward centreline of flying field and misjudged the depth to towards the field. This is affected by where he is standing if he is standing towards the end or center of flying field (pilot area) this can easily mislead your perception of the depth. So your general statement is WRONG. Easy to judge while sitting in your chair. Who knows how you are flying and how good you really are. Most probably you are one of those guys, great in judging others mishaps, never talking about own mishaps, if something wrong, it is the plane itself or electronics never the pilot itself.

@@rcswissflyer9393 Sorry, but having to stand behind your model while taking off is a sure-fire sign of poor orientation technique. At every flying field I've flown (since 1976, mind you) standing on the runway is strictly *_"place your model" or "retrieve tour model", and GET OUT._* No flying standing on the runway, no taking off standing on the runway, whichever way the wind is blowing. You guys should practice taking off from the proper locations, at the flying stands. They exist for a reason. Happy flying.

That you fly since 1976 does mean you are a good pilot. Just to say how things are. No you can agree to have someone on the field and take off zone as long as nobody is flying (is in the air). Our rule is, during maiden flights if required all other leave maiden pilot to announce he wants to stand behind his aircraft (not a Jet), so safety issues are covered. Yes proper locations if the flying field is std ordinary flat flying field. NOT ALL are ordinary std. flying fields. US you do not have a landscape like be have in our mountain hilly landscape of our country. So are unable to understand and judge (very simple). Your std are not everybody std. Just get that point.

@@rcswissflyer9393 Yes, not every club is the same, I get that. But not having to take off from behind your model is a basic flying skill that needs to be acquired. Not the least because one day you may end up flying elsewhere where this is strictly forbidden. Get that point, also.
