I’m so glad to see hpi back in business if my local hobby shop them I’m definitely going to buy a few please bring back the super nitro and the nitro mt truck and the electric version 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I have 2 jumpshots v1 st. I really like this platform. I have to say I never have problems finding parts. Especially if I hit EBay wow almost everything you need for these trucks. Great video happy to see HPI made this an all metal gearbox.
Honestly, I sometimes prefer 2wd simply because I feel you can turn sharper. 4wd tends to understeer, especially under power. 2wd can be a bit touchy, but I feel it's better overall, unless you're on a very loose surface. I am surprised that you stripped the gears so quickly, hopefully just a fluke. Looks pretty amazing, I really want one!
I sure hope they start making parts for stuff. I have a flux xs that I'm afraid to drive because you can't get slipper clutch pads for it. They've been out of stock for years. the funny thing is they're still selling brand new ones so it's not like they're not making them anymore.
The new HPI is doing their best on parts supply. But I think like everyone else, getting the stuff here from overseas has been difficult. There’s tons of ships sitting in port waiting to offload.
@@rcdriver I get that. Trying to restart a supply chain right now is probably even harder than just keeping one going. I will continue to be patient. HPI has always been My favorite brand and I really can't wait for them to release something genuinely new with reliable parts support. They will have my money for sure.
This truck is not for me but to each their own. I will say this though Greg, your reviews are some of the most thorough and unbiased on here. Very well done 👏.
I bought the HPI Jumpshot MT the first yesr it came out too. I hope they improved the quality of the body. Mine shattered from an unexpected wheeliewhen it was stock. I put a HPI Camaro body on it and Duratrax Picket SC wheels and tires. I also added a Castle SV3 brushless esc and 4600KV Castle motor.Really fun RC!
@@theirishaxe9405 If you want to see the new XL look up Crazy Hobbies on RU-vid, he just did a video on it, I'm pretty sure he was the 1st person in Australia to get one.
I have mixed feelings. Wheelie bar certainly would have been nice stock. But this is a model car hobby. You get to add on parts onto your model that YOU want. Agreed, nice to see HPI back into it!!
I'm pretty happy to see HPI has made a comeback from the Traxxas incident. I just bought my first new HPI vehicle in the wild their crawler the venture sbk and that truck went together wonderful and is a very capable crawler I love that thing
@@44punisherable I think he misspoke and was thinking of the arrma- traxxas incident. HPI just went thru bankruptcy restructuring and it's taken awhile after several resales of company for current new owners to finally get up and running. But they've done just about zero new products, just blow and go's(new body and tires and selling it as all new)
@@romper4444 thanks for info. I was a huge fan of HPI back then but only owned one. I'm glad they're making a comeback but still a bit on edge. I literally just build kits because I don't have time to run anything anymore. Building is more fun at the moment
@@44punisherablewell that information is incorrect hpi was sued by traxxas because they reverse engineered a waterproof receiver box that was basically just a rubber o-ring that fit the contours of the box that was completely different in every other way. And reverse engineering is not copying it's working out how something works and making it differently from the original
I mainly run traxxas stuff but have always been a fan of HPI, one of the first nice RCs I ever drove was a savage 21 that my uncle had when I was a kid.
@@rcdriver that's great thank you. I know they're very similar to each other but I'm interested in the handling difference with the stance being lower on the ST.. 👍🏻
From 19:00 that’s why I really like nitro because the vehicles are so much more controllable. My Hoss with the 14 tooth pinion is insanely tough to control. And that’s not even at its limit. Swap the spur gear out & I’m at 60+. Same with the Rustlers The Xmaxx is just plain awesome. I picked it up a few weeks ago & even on 6s it’s fast. I got the 8s completer pack the other day, but because of the temperature here in NJ we only used it once. Waiting for it to warm up so we can run them and swap out the pinion for that 50+ Thanks again
I'm glad these rigs are coming back, the Flux range is amazing! Given iv only got a Trophy truggy Flux but Iv seen many vids and everyone seems to love there Flux👌 Just subbed by the way🤘👍
Come HPI, HRP whatever you want to call yourself We need Savages, 1/8 & to go after Traxxas a 1/6 or 1/5 Savage Nitro & Electric...Let me say it again NITRO! Great video
I just watched this video because I bought a jump shot and I'm very curious as to why the other one is a rare pre-production model because that is the exact one I just got
The only thing that worries me about the bottom feeding battery box is that you basically rest all the weight of your pack on that tiny body clip pin securing the hatch. Looks like it could snap on a hard landing and send the lipo on its merry way out of the vehicle.
I was happy with my jumpshot mt for two days.. until rounded off my rear wheel hex and stripped a reduction gear. Was my own fault for taking their word on it being " ready to run" out the box. Im use to building my RCs as kits.
I hear ya, but.... Always that but...lol I just bought a brand new Tmaxx (still have my original 2.5 & 3.3) & I’m telling you even my 12 year old son loved the sound of that engine. It was fun breaking it in together & then gettin after it. And I have an Xmaxx, Hoss, & VXL Rustler I just miss my Nitro Savage real bad & I’d personally but two brand new ones if they start producing an updated version Again just my opinion & hope that they do
i have got a hpi e-savage monster truck, it was gave to me. both motors and the esc and the batteries are gone. any way you could tell me what motors and stuff that will work on it. i am dumb as a sack of rocks about size an stuff like that. be much thankful if you could thanks.
I will always be a die hard hpi fan, hell I’m still running my savage from when they came out, on the k4.6 swap, but I’m a little on the fence on this model. I’m thinking about getting an arrma granite soon
I don’t believe Arrma offers the 2wd Granite BLX anymore which would be the comparable truck. They just have the brushed Voltage. The Jumpshot Flux would be the better truck between the two.
Could have been a little off to start now that I hear the video. With the camera close to the ground, the mic picks up more sound. It didn’t sound the same to me while I was driving.
They need more weight on the front though I have the v1 SC with brushless technology on it's changing into a plane at a certain speed while running 3s, even with the optional wheeliebar. And it's sad that the spur gear is'nt made og some kind of metal they i've had a little problem with the theeths melting. But damn it's fun car.
When your used to 6s rigs 3s in an MT doesn't sound like much, but when you consider how light these HPI's are.... I like the twin chassis, looks really strong and light. I like the fact that it's 2wd, it'll make for some interesting handling. The shocks look kinda meh, a set of nice aloominum shocks would just finish it off Front bumper and wheelie will prolly be an aftermarket option, that body is gonna get trashed without a wheelie
The twin chassis is exremly Strong I have the SC it's about 2.5 inches longer than the mt,. I lost control of the car while running close to 60mph and hit an iron pole and that's the only time i've bended the chassis and cracked the bumper, but the rest of the car was still in great condition
It's great to see that HPI are back but I can't help feeling that they are late to the party especially with a rear motor set up. Who even still make a rear motor vehicle anymore? Even Bangoood specials are mid motor. I wish them well but I think Arrma and Losi have really taken over there market.
Hey we talked to your buddy Tony P. on Frank's 9:30 pm Thursday zoom video chat and regular chat. You should get in touch with the tank RC to join us at 9:30 p.m. this Thursday we hope to get Tony again on a regular basis.
Rich aka Greg, I would love to see a return of hpi but customer confidence is non existent. I have not driven my venture hard at all due to parts availability being absent. As a matter of fact they have promised more than they have delivered over the last 3 years
I’m Greg. Rich is TheRCNetwork 😁. But yes, I understand the concerns. I think like others, they’re dealing with supply issues coming out of China. They’re all doing their best to get parts supply out there. Many want HPI to be around, but if there’s no sales, you know what happens.
@@killmore75 NP, people mistake me trying to educate about the model for advertising. I talk a lot about a model so interested people can know about it so they can make an informed decision on their own. I don’t tell people to buy it or tell people to click affiliate links like others do.
....The jumpshot arena truck lasted 20 to 30 minutes on grass and now gears are ground off ....1st run lasted 15 seconds in straight line On Grass & the rear tires Ripped off the rims and nearly ripped completely in half . ....Talk About Buyers Remorse And Regret . ....I Feel Like The Hobby Shop Saw Me Coming & Now I Do Not Know Weather To Trust What They Say Or Suggest Anymore
Bad bad bad they need to be up to date in the R&D this is brushless common is the servo supposed to double as a bumper just looks like they left out anything that us bashers look for in modern Rc’s
They need to lower the price on these or make them 4x4 to compete with Arrma Granite and Team Associated MT10. Hpi has nothing in the line of 1/10 4x4 3s for 300 to 370. The bullet st and mt are outdated and way over priced.
Ok so you stripped its gears when you had a bad landing and the motor moved and the teeth were a little broken....but it was fun to drive ? Are you sure that this is a review? You know this is not the cheapest rc in the market and is supposed to be a basher !!!!!!
@@Rockatha I guess you are right, but on the other hand not addressing a problem properly ( even if it has to do with a well known brand ) doesn't really make this video review and it becomes more of an advertisement , which of course is the reason why you get an rc for free in the first place.
Chassis was a good design 20 years ago. That rig looks to be a "sorry guys gotta run to hobby shop to buy parts" type of setup. Loved my nitro Savage but the Xmaxx put her into retirement.
It looks nice...but its nothing more than a lesser version of an stampede....and by saying traxxas puts out FAR SUPERIOR quality than hpi..let alone redcat, losi or arrma ehh
How is it a lesser version of a Stampede? Stampede has a composite chassis, Jumpshot, aluminum. Stampede has composite slider shafts, Jumpshot Steel dogbones. Stampede grease filled diff, Jumpshot sealed oil filled diff. Stampede composite smooth shock bodies, Jumpshot threaded shock bodies. I love the Stampede, but on paper the Jumpshot is not a lesser truck. They’re both worthy trucks to consider in the 2wd MT Class.
