Watch this step by step video showing how to do a complete teardown of the original Rockchucker to keep it operating at peak performance. RCBS has since released a Rockchucker 2 which you can find here:

I just inherited a 1975 rock chucker from my dad. I’ll be duplicating your process here on it. Thanks for the video!

Exact easy to follow instructions. My RC is 34 years old and has a light abrasive noise. I kept it clean and oiled but never fully disassembled. It now operates good as new and very smooth operation. Thank you my friend, safe loading and safe shooting.

Something to take note of that I discovered during reassembling my RC 1974. The bottom of the linkage arms have to be oriented correctly for the toggle pin to pass through both arms. Assembling from left to right the pin slid through easily in the left hand arms but would not slide through the right hand arm. After examining the wear marks on the linkage arms I flipped the right linkage arm and the toggle pin passed through easily. For those who have a Rockchucker the same age as mine this might help save some frustration.

I use Marvel Mystery Oil on my press. You can actually feel the smoother operation after you apply and work in the oil.

I was having a hard time installing a new primer catcher on a vintage RCII I bought and thanks to your video a quick new part install turned into me being able to clean all the old nasty joints on it too, thanks a ton!!

Great video. Got one to rebuild from my dad. To those that gave this vid a thumbs down, go back to your factory food and video games.

Nice video on the Rock Chucker, I am inspired. Big fan of RCBS products since the 1970s, I currently have a 50-year-old RCBS Jr. press that works perfectly. Used to have a Dillon RL450 during my early years when I used to shoot a lot. Viewing your video makes me feel happy, thanks. I am #52 on likes and now subscribed.

Very good video. Just what I was looking for. I purchased the same press at a moving sale and looking for info on taking down the press for cleaning.

Excellent, and a brass hammer would be appropriate I think. I like motorcycle chain oil on my stuff.

Hello. I have exactly the same press and the problem, that the press ram does not move up exactly centrally onto the die. The joints already have some play. I wonder how a press can have no game after over 30 years? What's the point of cleaning if I still have play afterwards and the stamp doesn't reach the top center. I can't imagine that the press stamp can bend? I took over the press from an old gentleman. What can I do that will center the press

Awesome video for that model RCS. Does the model IV disassemble the same?😄

What did you not like about the lithium grease? I use oil too, just curious.
@IdahoReloader
@IdahoReloader 4 года назад
It would tend to attract dust and powder more than an oil. Once contaminated, it's going to wear the metal surfaces faster.

@@IdahoReloader Have you ever considered using pure molybdenum disulfide powder? It is a very potent lubricant and is dry, so it would attract no contaminants. Just occurred to me, figured I would drop you a line.
@IdahoReloader
@IdahoReloader 3 года назад
Good thought but I'm not aware of any manufacturer that suggests using a dry lubricant due to possible contamination of powders from dust.

Thanks for putting this series together. It’s very helpful. I’ve been considering purchasing this same single stage press. Would you tell me which parts are caliber specific? Take 9mm for example. Is there only one die which is specific to that caliber? Thanks so much.
@IdahoReloader
@IdahoReloader 4 года назад
Yes, for 9mm you would need a die set for that caliber, shell holder. and a case gauge. If you haven't already, check out my newbie intro video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YlXsnZr2d_w.html. If you want to see something more specific post a comment and l will work up a video on it. Stay tuned as next week I will be releasing a full load work up video.

If you believe that a brass cartridge needs a super press? You are part of the problem. It sells though, sadly

Have you ever done any case resizing from say a 404 Jeffries to a .338 Neidner. Didn't think so. You need to keep your mouth in place when you start criticizing things you know nothing about.
