So... the game I was waiting for, the follow up to RCT3... it's NOT RCT4. The team who developed RCT3 was busy on Planet Coaster, NOT on RCT4. Thank you SO much for clearing this out!!
Dude ! You did amazing while the hype lasted and a great video to end on! I hope you keep up game reviews because you do an excellent job with them but do whatever you want I'll still watch ! We will never forget these days :) have a good one sir
Frontier has been making roller coaster games for as long as I can remember and they have still delivered to this day and Planet coaster is the RCT 4 I have dreamed of when I was 7 years old playing rct 3 I would have never imagined
You have to say that PC does have one of (if to the best) communities every created. The youtubers are so helpful (Like Silvarett and DeLadySigner) they even work with their subscribers (I've had the luxury to hang out with both) and can tell you that the master builders are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They absolutely love what they do, and it really shows. But don't forget the forums. Everyone is extremely helpful, always wanting to help. It is an amazing game, with amazing people playing it.
I've just started playing Kotor II sith lords because of you. I am sorry to say I'm having so much fun with it. it's such an old game and I'm having more fun than with newer titles. keep going man you are great.
I've bought both games and prefer Planet Coaster. it looks, and runs better and on scenery it is a lot better and more flexible. with RCTW, it gives you pre made stations which is quite nice but the rollercoaster editor is soooo much better. I like fixed pieces for the chain lift, but I like everything else to be flexible for me. I've wanted that feature since RCT3. Even in planet coaster when trying to do something customizable with the coaster, it still jerks and doesn't look as realistic as RCTW. I'd say I spend 2/3 of my time on Planet Coaster and 1/3 on RCTW.
I Think that you should do more 'vs' episodes - imo, they are the mode entertaining, and seem to get the most views. (Although they are all coaster related). I think there is a market out there for vs topics, rather than general reviews, as there are many places that do generalised reviews. Alot of people search [input game #1] vs [input game #2]. But anyway, thanks for that book on roller coaster games. I will never forget the 'Bring out ur dead.. Here we go.. But I'm not dead!"... *classic*
Some people get annoyed at when npcs don’t go on super scary roller coaster but I like that feature cause it makes it feel like the people are actually alive! For instance in roller coaster tycoon 3 npcs would go on any ride even if it killed them
Well done video, but I need to push back a bit on the Unity slam at 6:45. Unity is just a tool; it can be used well or used poorly depending on the craftsman using it.
Sorry for being kind of off topic but the ride at 1:14 (the orange one) is at my home town Sixflags! Hahaha Anyways Yeah I used a friends copy of RCTW when it first came out and got bored and annoyed within 10 minutes. I decided to wait a little while before I went back into games like these, and I just started playing Planet Coaster. I feel like an idiot for waiting this long to get it, because indeed it kicks RCTW in the ass 6 ways to Sunday.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming Laptop, Intel i7 Quad Core (7700HQ) 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti (4GB) What settings can I play this game on?
With rumors of planet coaster 2 in the early access phase, I’m excited to see how frontier will innovate on their new product. Planet zoo and Jurassic world evolution are all great games. I’m glad to see frontier getting the props they deserve and I’m excited for their future.
It would be interesting to review older games. Kotor is a great pick. If you review Kotor 2, there's a really interesting story of how the game was made and was revised over the years. I'd like to see you cover old gems. Majesty: Gold edition is a great one, and it's pretty cheap on steam.
I'm not actually sure that Atari achieved what they wanted. Planet Coaster was wildly successful and I doubt Roller Coaster Tycoon World did more than break even. They had to pay 3 separate development teams although obviously the 1st 2 didn't get their full payday as they were kicked off early. IMO for Atari to be successful, they would have had to make bank & crush Frontier Developments. I'm no fan of Frontier Developments for various reasons, but even I have to admit Planet Coaster was a worthy successor to the Roller Coaster Tycoon series. Also you can't really say the failure of RCTW was partly due to the choice of Unity. There are great, genre defining games on Unity, just see Kerbal Space Program & Cities Skylines. However the use of Unity is often a warning sign for a project like this as due to it's ease of use, low cost & easily available pre-made assets it is the tool of choice of hack studios.
IMO, the fact that it was made in Unity has no impact on its success. I mean, Cities Skylines was a massive hit and it was made in Unity. It all comes down to the developer and how much effort they put into the game.
There's not even any competition here - Planet Coaster rips RCTW to shreds. I've been giving RCTW a try for the last few days (when it decides not to crash) and it's not even in the same league.
I see so much potential in you. I hope you review movies, maybe on a separate channel, with a better camera? I feel like you could be huge in the movie review world.
problem with Planet Coaster there aren't enough flat rides.. i get fed up with just zillions of coasters as i like to recreate real park.. Which is why i still play RCT3
its more of a Simulator, but I think you should review No Limiys Roller Coaster 2... it's not a Game per say, but if you like roller coasters its really fun, has awsome graphics and its a more realistic aproach... just a thought
i bought rct world without knowing about planet coaster and found ot rctworld wouldn't even start up. got no refund. still love planet coaster and rct 1, 2 and 3
The whole Force Awakens analogy hasn't exactly aged well Planet Coaster is more like Empire Strikes Back and Roller Coaster Tycoon World is more like Rise Of Skywalker
I'm not really a Star Wars fan, but is Episode 1 the one with Darth Maul and the pod racing? Because I actually rather enjoyed that one. Never saw any of the new Star Wars, but from what I've heard, they really went away from George Lucas's vision and really made some questionable plot choices. My buddy is a big Star Wars fan and I remember him telling me about how Disney changed Luke Skywalker's character to be a depressed old man, when Lucas wouldve never done that. It also seems like the new Star Wars movies really are trying to be "woke" by purposely adding women and minority characters, just for the sake of being "woke". Idk, I've never seen them, but from what I've seen and heard from other people, the new ones suck.
me: *plays rollercoaster tycoon world bc i don have money* also me: wait planet coaster but roller coaster tycoon world? wtf? why is it like WTF? well its fine but hmm
100k people bought RCTW as of this video. Only just under 30k more bought it since then. 460k people bought PC as of this video. That went up by almost 240k since then. The fact that the numbers for PC are almost/over double of what RCTW has is just proof that, in terms of RCT, Atari is nothing without Frontier. The only reason RCT3 was such a success was because Frontier did a great job on it. They took what Chris Sawyer and Infogrames made and created their own twist on it, giving us the charming yet revolutionary game (for its time and genre) that is RCT3. And guess what, Atari? Frontier did it again. And hey, let's also not forget Texel Raptor's little gem, "Parkitect". It's like RCT2 with improved graphics, an updated engine, and more stuff! It's still in early access, and it still has bugs here and there (as many early access games do), but the devs are active and working with their small (56k strong) community. I just can't wait to see the numbers when it gets released.
Planet Coaster obviously I wish the avatars were a bit more realistic but they look good anyway obviously better then rctw it’s a shame that Planet Coaster gets laggy pretty quick I would’ve gotten every dlc if they weren’t so expensive
I agree that planet coaster is way better than rollercoaster tycoon world. Just wanted to point out that (at least in my opinion) Rollercoaster tycoon world does have better rollarcoaster building. Other than that Planet coaster destroys RCTW.
Yknow, everyone keeps saying that but I wholeheartedly disagree. I think planet coaster was perfectly serviceable if not missing some new innovations of it's own and I think ep 7 still is the same way even if 8 and 9 missed the mark
Planet Coaster is better because the frame rate is always smooth and there's autosave and RCTW is worse since it crashes everytime so you have to manually save every 5 minutes, and it starts to do this weird laggy effect even though it's still running at 60fps
Planet Coaster is the real sequel to RCT3... Just because some schmuck came in and took the name RCT World, doesn't mean they get credit for making the sequel. Frontier made all the RCT games, Atari decided to continue with the RCT name, so Frontier was like "bitch u taking our title? ok, we'll make a new one, no problem, we'll win anyway". RCTW is just a different game with the same name, made to confuse people and benefit from old fans.
Actually chris Sawyer made RCT 1 and 2, Frontier made the RCT2 expansions. Then Chris Sawyer sold the rights to Atari, then Atari hired Frontier to make RCT3. So they were the actual developers, Atari just published the game.
That Star Wars analogy was horrible. You should of put Star Wars a New Hope on Planet Coaster. Some of us just call it Star Wars because it was the First Star Wars in the 70s.
chris sawyer: every stall is pure personality. you can easly tell whats what. and the flat rides. even tho they are just that. uneditable. they can always fit atari: basic building with a little sign on top. flat rides are super goofy looking
You say unity is the cheapest engine out there but cities skylines is made in unity and that game is robust so I don't think saying that the engine is cheap the right thing
I disagree with your point on starwars the prequel movies were better than the sequel movies in a lot of ways. Story, fight scenes, character development, not trying to be a copy of the OG trilogy. Most of the people who like and defend the new movies are the kind of people who wet themselves every time there is a female lead in anything and shout people down with buzzwords if they find anything wrong with it. This is closer to what they did with Kojima where they kicked him then tried to make their own metal gear game only for it to be a complete train wreck.
Honestly RTCW is good because not everyone can afford a good computer and spend a lot of money on Planet Coaster because RCTW is cheap and can run good on even Intel video cards.
You realize you didn't give a single shred of proove that RollerCoaster Tcoon World is indeed worse than Planet Coaster??? just kept repeating hearsay... Both games look fine from the graphical point of view, both games do what the are supposed to do, I really don't get it why people insist on RollerCoaster Tycoon World is simply worse than PlanetCoaster. Also, both development teams didn't hear people at all. There are gigantic threads and topics on both official forums (of each game), asking for Dark Ride stuff like Omnimovers and things like that. They simply disregarded all that. Back in the day, a guy "called" Imageneer John, gave us Omnimovers and other similar vehicles on RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and people started creating amazing dark rides just like Disney and Universal, well, a lot, and I mean A LOT of people (including me), where expecting to have native support for these kind of things on any of these two games or even on both. Several years after the release of both games, we have absolutely nothing regarding that stuff and that speaks for itself. These developers don't care at all about their customers.
You’re just saying “oh both bad because dark rides” but planet coaster actually allows you to make dark rides AND there’s omnimovers so. You’re just wrong on every level
No both games do not look good on a graphical level. RCTW looks like a mobile game. It’s load times are also considerably longer than PC. Like what is wrong with you?
@@Sirnekk there are NOT omnimovers, trust me I triple checked, you can look it by yourself, you can check even the official PlanetCoaster forums where people is still asking for Omnimovers/Peoplemovers... I wish there where any, but there are not. Only RCT 3 had, and it was not even official, it was a mod created by the great Imagineer John. And yes, I'm saying that both games are more or less the same, you can do basically the same things in each game, yeah the don't look exactly the same but they look ok enough.
@@Sirnekk I don't agree with that, they both look similar, neither of them is actually reallistic, both games are kinda cartoony looking (specially the peeps).
i pity the 100,000 people who bought RCTW and have it now sitting catching dust in their steam library. i would've asked for a refund seeing how shitting it was.
