The flaming from the clap when it falls with the snare and kick is much more pronounced in the clone. That's very disappointing to me bcz I hate that flammy flaw in the original which meant I used a sample of my 909 clap rather than the real thing most times. Overall I didnt think the clone sounded identical
The clap/snare phasing is so distinct of the 909 that I can’t really think of its sound without it. You can avoid it using the individual outputs easily. This comparison, the way it was made, can never be identical because our recording rigs are different. It’s impressive there’s not an even bigger difference.
Clap & Snare share the same noise source in the 909. This causes the phasing to occur. It can be avoided by implementing the 2nd noise source mod. Check e-licktronic forum for details. I don’t know about DinSync’s RE-909, but Steda’s SR-909 comes with a 2nd noise board included in the DIY kit should one wish to implement it.
