Fun fact: At the premier, when Doctor Hill's severed head goes down on Meg, David Gale's wife stands up and screams "IS THIS WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING!?" In front of everyone.
@@onyxsavior7179 Actually, the narrator and protagonist (I guess) in _The Rats in the Walls_ had a cat by that name; not Lovecraft himself... ... ... ... That having been said, yeah, Lovecraft was indeed racist, elitist, classist, xenophobic, somewhat agoraphobic, erotophobic, had horrible nightmares, an inferiority complex, and suffered from depression. In short, the dude had issues.
Herbert West is the kind of character you HATE to love. I just become captivated every time he's on the screen, I think it's because if I was ever in a real situation with someone like him he'd inevitably convince me to understand and agree with his beliefs and that's terrifying seeing how his actions affect others.
That's exactly how I feel about Hannibal Lecter. Clarice Starling is an extremely intelligent character, and he still manipulates her completely. You just know he'd get you too.
I recently got Disney+ and decided to watch Honey I Shrunk the Kids for the first time since childhood. I was STUNNED to see that it was co-written by Gordon and Yuzna.
I haven't even watched this movie, but the clips here show that West is sometimes the smallest guy in the room yet he gives off such a presence. Many points to Combs.
@@a.randomcomenter5482 no, the camera guy for reanimator said "dere are veenies everywhere!" during the morgue dead body attack. But my ears are fucked up so I could've heard it wrong.
@@Anonymous-ek2rh dude , just chill the f out man .... and you really hadn't to say that you know . It doesn't actually depend on the products they sell , but the thing they did and actually help an freakin amazing RU-vid Channel .
I’m one of those people who came to this channel a while ago because I’m an absolute chicken who enjoys horror plots, and I just want to say this channel made me brave enough to actually watch these horror movies by myself even if I’m still a chicken. This channel helps me grow as a person so keep those sponsors coming James!
I miss old-school horror, and it’s for a very specific reason: they used to have practical effects. Now not all practical effects were perfect, and plenty of executions were cheesy, but old-school movies, especially the good ones, wouldn’t have been the same or as effective if they hadn’t used the practical effects they did. (Don’t take this as a “CGI Bad” argument, CGI is great for some things, but the issue isn’t the technology, it’s the reliance on it and the often poor execution of it)
CGI is bit like photoshop when today I've seen photographer on IG trying result of putting pantyhose on lens and somebody literally asked why bothering if you can digitally edit it
practical effects are like fries, and cgi is like seasoning; ketchup, or salt, or what have you. it's a really good garnish to put on top of a practical product (e.g. the fish man in the shape of water being a guy in a costume, with cgi used to enhance the eyes) but if you serve me a plate with nothing but cgi on it i'm going to hit you over the head with it
I like the idea of a reboot or retelling where we learn a bit of west’s backstory and how he became who he is. In fact, I thought of an entire three minute rant when he gets called out for blasphemy in bride with lines signaling that he had lost many loved ones in his life
@@benwatson9443 sorry, didnt realize it cut me off halfway through... but on YT side they also never use manual review properly and have double standards... I think this was going to happen no matter what
Me:”I’ll watch whatever you put out!” James:”You could say they re-animated this kill count” *I’ve made a grave mistake* Love ya James and damn I missed the puns
Thank god this Kill Count made it. HUGE thanks to MVMT for resuscitating this and bringing it to light. EDIT: This is my first comment with over 1k likes. Thanks everyone!! :)
Jeffrey Combs was also Ratchet in Transformers: Prime and in one episode he created a substance called "Synth-En" that made him stronger, which was also green.
I really, REALLY enjoy having you explain the way the SFX were done!! As a trained, still-learning SFX makeup artist myself, it's so interesting to see! Please keep doing it for future videos if you can, I enjoy it immensely.
@Bobby Peru Jeff puts 110% in every one of his roles and he's is an awesome guy in real life as well. Down to earth and he cares about his fans. I have him on Twitter and have praised his performance in Re-Animator and that I dig how Dr West thinks.
Anytime Jeff's name was I. The credits for a Trek episode I would get really excited. Such a class act and a great actor. Loved him as the voice of The Question in JLU too. He should be in everything.
I started with the uncensored version, but every now and again it’s a little too much for me, and I start getting a little lightheaded. It’s actually kinda nice to have a diet-version of the video.
I wish that they would’ve gone ahead with the 4th entry that they had planned. I would’ve enjoyed to see how much father his work had progressed. Jeffrey Combs is so damn good in this role.
