My wife and I lived and went to school in Verona 1959-1962. We were in middle school and HS at the time. What a truly wonderful experience it was to come of age in Italy living amongst Italians and not on an American Army Base. There was always something to do and the best part was that we were required to take Italian language in school. Another favorite was going to Lago de Garda in the Summer - so much fun. Finally, traveling about at a time when there were not huge crowds and the food. Omg, so many fine restorante. I still have a local map of all the restaurants in the area. Hello Valeria, thank you very much for this video. A long time ago I took a day trip from Venice to Verona. It is a very beautiful city. There I looked at Juliet's house, the amphitheater and some old churches. In a month I will go to Verona for 9 days. I also plan to visit Mantua and Sirmione on Lake Garda. Great marketing at 5:00 from the small jewelry company to say that Romeo bought Juliet something from there. If I owned a gelato shop in Verona, I would say that Romeo used to always come in and buy ice cream for Juliet (usually on Friday's he would come). 🤣🤣
Cangrande della Scala ebbe questo nome perché era giunta la notizia che l'imperatore in Cina era chiamato Gran Kan. Il nome Veronetta per la parte meno nobile della città, quella oltre l'Adige, risale al periodo napoleonico. Francia e Austria firmarono tra loro una pace che durò quattro anni in cui il confine era segnato dall''Adige. I francesi che stavano nella parte piu nobile della città, entro l'ansa del fiume, dicevano di essere loro a Verona, mentre gli austriaci dall'altra parte erano a Veronette, detto con disprezzo.
We've been to Verona before so have seen all the "usual" sites. We go again on Wednesday for the Verona Opera Festival. Thanks for these out-of-the-way recommendations.

Shame you didn’t highlight how dangerous the train station is for tourists? My wife, daughter and I recently visited Verona, and enjoyed a wonderful visit until we departed, and were surrounded by a group of thugs who wanted our luggage and bags and were threatening violence on all of us until a train guard appeared and they disbanded! Our daughter was in tears and we were dry frightened. Stay off the platform (Milan-Venice) until you need to board, as there are gangs of crimes videoing and messaging as you pass and as in most Italian train stations no police or security anywhere. Shocking and we were seconds from losing everything and who knows what else. Europe is very dangerous these days and is overrun with illegal visitors
