I have been on a mission to grow cabbage sprouts from 2 years. I have some good ones growing now. But I cut off my cabbage head too low and I didn’t leave any leaves, but sprouts are growing. I will try again in the fall. I’m in North Alabama, so it’s about to be too hot for them. And I just harvested some really nice broccoli heads Saturday. I knew about the side shoots but I didn’t know about the suckers growing on broccoli! I will be on the lookout for those! Thanks for all this helpful info! Happy gardening to ya!! Fantastic Information... Thank you so much for sharing. I am subscribing to your channel and I am very glad I found your channel this morning. I am planning on growing broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage for the first time in my gardens this year. I haven't done it before because I have a smaller garden, but this year I am hoping to utilize the entire 3/4 of an acre behind my home and turn it into several small gardens rather than spending half my summer mowing grass. I really enjoyed this video. May God always Bless you with good health, safety, the love of family and friends, and prosperity in all you do God Bless ~SuzyJC-in-Pataskala-Ohio_02.08.2023~

That sounds like fun! Thats a lot of land, you should be able to get so much use out of it. I currently am only growing on the rear of the side of my house and the back of my driveway in containers. But I am looking to start growing in my back yard (which it 20x16ft), the full length of my side yard (27x5ft), my front yard (20x12ft) and I want to put up a 10x5ft greenhouse in the back of my driveway near my 8x4x4ft compost ben. The rest of the space around my house can't really be used, unless I build growing stations. Being in the city can be limiting, but Im going to me it work.

They must get enough Light otherwise they will flower! But its a perfect amount for a normal meal when you add a few other vegetables! You dont need the whole Broccoli or leave like the half for another day! With the small ones you get more vitamins because always fresh

The side shoots of cabbage do taste better. I believe one of the reasons is because they tend to get hit by frost at that point of the plants life. And yes. When you add all the little guys up. It's about the same volume of the initial first head.

This will surely help farmers to increase their income by preventing repeated process of growing from seeds for every crop . Continuous harvesting from the same plants reduce their labour and reduce their financial burden . Since new branches keeps on coming and new cabbage and broccoli keeps on growing from the same plants , they can have some real rest from their constant preparation of soil and sowing . Just nourishing the soil may give more produce .

I have used both organic and non organic fertilizer. Also, it’s taken them so long to grow and now the heads are finally growing but with this warm weather a lot of them are bolting. The side shoots are called "Broccolini", pronounced Broc al eeny. It's harvested here and sold in supermarkets, in a smallish bunch, for a high price as a bit of a luxury.
