In this video, I use a basic Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) tool re-learn tool to re-program my TPMS in my 2019 Chevrolet Impala.
The TPMS re-learn tool I used is an Augocom EI-50448, though there are many identical looking ones out there.

For anyone else with a 2014-2020 Impala (likely very similar procedure for other GM vehicles), here is how to do a TPMS re-learn:
1) Enter diagnostics mode by holding the ignition start/stop button for 5 seconds (do not press the brake pedal)
2) Find the tire pressures page on the dash display
3) Hold down the ‘checkmark’ button on the steering wheel. The horn will sound twice
4) Go to the front left tire. Position the TPMS tool near the valve stem and hold the button until the horn beeps
5) Go to the front right tire, and do the same thing
6) Go to the rear right tire, and do the same thing
7) Go to the rear left tire, and do the same thing
8) The horn will double beep to indicate success. Turn off the ignition, start car, and you should be set!
Note that you may need to hold the button for a while... it took close to 30 seconds to pair the first TPMS sensor. Just hold the button until the car beeps at you at each wheel.

That black antenna is also a great way to hold against the sidewall/rim as close to the valvestem as possible. Try holding it straight on to the rubber the closest to the valve and it might help it pick up the signal better. Especially true with a weak transmitter.

That hasn't been my experience - I tried a few new ways of holding it when reprogramming tonight after reading some comments similar to yours. I think the unit scans codes until a connection is made, so sometimes it is very quick to 'connect', and other times it takes much longer.

After many unsuceesful tries with other videos I came across this one. It it is the best and fixed my problems relearning the TPMS on my 2015 Tahoe Z71 after rotating tires. I used the cheap Amazon EL-50558. Important note: as he says in the video sometimes you have to keep holding the button down since it can take longer on different tire positions. Also, I used the 5 second hold on the start button (don't press the brake pedal) and did it without the engine running.

@rubbercheesereviews

I've tried after receiving many comments like this - it makes no difference with my car and tool. I suspect this tool is either less powerful or slower scanning than professional tools used in shops where that might make a difference.

You're supposed to hold the antenna against the sidewall of the tire. Sometimes, it may not read the sensor if you don't do that
@rubbercheesereviews
@rubbercheesereviews 5 месяцев назад
I've tried holding the antenna different ways (especially after receiving similar comments after posting this video) - it makes no difference at all to me. I believe the delay is as it cycles through codes and may be influenced by battery level of the tool and/or TPMS

You may be doing nothing wrong. I'd try again a couple of times, and move the tool around a bit at the third tire. If still no luck, the battery in that sensor may be too flat to work and the sensor will need to be replaced. This system doesn't allow programming unless all four tires are programmed together.

@rubbercheesereviews
@rubbercheesereviews 2 года назад
It depends why you are having this issue - if the sensors aren't corresponding to the correct tire, reprogramming will help. If the sensor is just reading incorrectly, I doubt this would help. Have you checked all tires to see if one actually is the low pressure reported by your vehicle?

Were you able to get them to reset while your snow tires were on??? Thats the problem I'm having with my new rims the sensor isn't working
@rubbercheesereviews
@rubbercheesereviews 3 года назад
Yes, I have my all-seasons and snows on different rims, and I use this tool to program the system each time I do a tire swap. If you are having problems, possibly one of your TPMS sensors is bad. Apparently TPMS sensors typically last 5-10 years, though my limited experience with them is that the OEM ones last a little over 10 years.

What year and make/model of car? A few possible issues: your car doesn't use this type of TPMS programming tool, your TPMS sensors are bad (e.g. dead batteries), or your TPMS programming tool is bad (my first one didn't work).

@rubbercheesereviews
@rubbercheesereviews 2 года назад
@Jared Patterson From a quick web search for 2010 Impala, I think you just need to remove (or add) air one tire at a time for the re-learn; give that a try. There is also a good chance that TPMS batteries are dead - the sensors in my 2007 DTS started giving out at around 10 years old.
@dting22

Just did this on my 2023 Camaro SS. Exactly as you described. I previously could not get one of the tpms sensors to detect while I tried the reset sequence with the engine running. But your video inspired me to use the five-second start button hold to get the car into tpms reset mode with the engine off. I suspect the engine, while running, must send out enough RF interference to mess with the weak signal coming out of the reset tool. Anyway, doing the procedure with engine off worked great. Thanks!

@rubbercheesereviews
@rubbercheesereviews 15 дней назад
It is possible that if it is aftermarket, the sensor may need to be initiated to 'talk' with GM parts. If this is the case, you may need to use a "professional" scan tool to initialize the sensor. I'm not 100% sure on this though since I haven't ever replaced a TPMS sensor before. My summers are my OEM wheels; my winters are mounted on used OEM wheels that I bought (from another Impala).

@rubbercheesereviews
@rubbercheesereviews Год назад
I suppose that would work... if you go from tire-to-tire and find out which one doesn't cause the car to beep. With that said, if you have one bad sensor, it is likely that the others will go bad relatively soon so might be worth swapping them all.

Might be a dying TPMS sensor/battery. If you know it is working, start over - I had a similar issue once where I had to start over twice before my right front would register (the TPMS sensors are about 5 years old). I'm not sure if this is due to a fading battery, or just a fluke.

Not true - I've played around with how I hold the programmer on subsequent tire swaps after other people left similar comments, and it really doesn't make any difference. For each swap, I find that 2 or 3 TPMS sensors register very quickly, but 1 or 2 tend to take a bit longer.

Is your gauge showing low, or a reading that's way off? If the car says the tire pressure is LO or "---" after previously working (i.e. if you didn't swap tires), that is an indication that the TPMS sensor has gone bad. With that said, if you know the TPMS sensor is good, try buying another tool - the first one I bought on Amazon was a dud and wouldnt work even though the indicator light made it look like it was working.

@@merrinomay7986 Sounds good! I really like the Impala - plenty of space, good compromise between handling/performance and comfort, and good value compared to similarly-sized cars.

@@merrinomay7986 I think you are thinking of Malibu. Impala is either 2.5 or 3.6. I have the 3.6L - really peppy and fun to drive, and reasonably good gas mileage (I average 32MPG on longer trips)

Leave the engine off. Someone commented on here that the process didn't work (or didn't work reliably) with engine running

I believe for that generation of GM, no tool is required. There should be a way to get into re-learn mode, then you can go around releasing pressure tire-by-tire. Take a look at your owner's manual.

This particular model likely won't, but there are others that are advertised to work with Chrysler. U508 is a model suggested when I did a search, though I haven't tried one.

I'm surprised with the car that new. I would try again a couple times - occasionally it will take a LONG time of holding to get a connection. I'm not 100% sure if these are accurate, but I found the following suggestions when I previously had issues (at that time I had a dud TPMS programmer) : 1) before programming, drive the car. 2) ensure front wheels are straight.

having a home designated for the tool helps ,if you replace the item back where it belongs.

For sure - I also remove the battery between uses, but have a dedicated "TPMS sensor" battery kept in the box.

They are OEM TPMS sensors - the rims/tires shown in the video are what came on the car from factory. My snow tires (not shown) are mounted on take-off rims from a 2015 Impala LT which also have OEM sensors.

You are holding it wrong you have to rest the black antenna against the tyre it will work quicker
@rubbercheesereviews
@rubbercheesereviews 4 года назад
Thanks for your comment - I tried that way the previous time I swapped tires (the instructions recommend either holding the tool perpendicular to the valve stem, or parallel to it with the antenna against the sidewall like you suggest), but I didn't notice any real difference. I'll try next again next swap and update this video if required.
