@@reethardio6432 And you're blowing things way out of proportion. How do you know they "advertised features that they knew the devs didn't even have implemented"? When the most likely scenario was that there were things that the devs had WANTED to implement but simply didn't end up having time to do so. Either that or they likely were features that were in the game and later removed for any number of reasons. These are very common things in game development. And while I have no proof either on those educated guesses, what we do know for a fact is that after roughly a year the game had been patched enough to be at a more than an acceptable place for launch. And if the devs weren't forced to play catch-up on bug fixes and PR moves perhaps they would have even been able to do even more than what we have now.

They actually said that they aim to get the sequels out within 6 years of the first game's launch, not that they want to get the entire trilogy out in 6 years. They're plan is to get most of the core foundational mechanics done in the first game so that the future sequels can build on top of them rather than having to built almost from scratch again like they've been doing with all of their games so far. Cyberpunk in particular was especially bad in this area considering almost nothing from the witcher games could be reused and CDPR had an incredibly overly ambitious list of features they ultimately had to cut, wasting huge amounts of time and resources.

The reason a codename is used is for reference. The projects are in their infancy, most likely the titles don’t have names since the narrative team is still working this out, or that it might have a name subject to change. I reckon it also makes it easier to refer to the projects in house where internal emails are written, or consultants engaged. Which is also why they're confident that they can deliver the next two Witcher games in 6 years after the release of the first game. I’m a little worried with what they’re promising. It’s very ambitious. Making 3 Witcher games + a cyberpunk game + 2 more Witcher games within a year time span of when the first main Witcher game comes out. It’s all quite a lot. However with new studios opening up for them, I believe they can do it. Firstly I think they’re fine with Witcher. They know the formula, they know what to do. I’m not worried about the Witcher games. Also they explained that they’ll get the core foundations of the game for the first game and then have 3 years to build on the first game and then another 3 years to build on the second game. I think CD PR was so embarrassed with the release of cyberpunk that no matter how much pressure they fans put on, they won’t release any game until it’s finished. I love the Witcher and Cyberpunk and they know how to make a 10/10 Witcher game and they know the mistakes from the first cyberpunk and even then imo the story and setting was 10/10, just should have been way more polished and more features than what was at launch. I want to believe in CD PR. Im skeptical but people there have surely learnt their mistakes of promising too much and leaving fans disappointed so they wouldn’t claim all this and not be 100% sure they can achieve this

Witcher 5 and 6 would be released within a six years timeframe after the launch of Witcher 4. I'd say that's a pretty feasible timeframe. If it's anything like most Yakuza game sequels, the next games would only need adding things and expanding instead of building things from the ground up. Also, for those that don't know, they also mentioned that the Witcher sequels and the Cyberpunk sequel would pretty much be handled by two entirely different teams. Witcher with the Polish team, and Cyberpunk with the US team. Imagine Mass Effect Andromeda which was not made by the main Bioware studio. The main difference with Andromeda's situation being that the CDPR US team would be working with Unreal Engine 5, not the mess that is their outdated in-house engine. Meaning I hope Bioware's Frostbite Engine problem wouldn't occur again.

To clarified stuff :Witcher 4(codename Polaris) , witcher 5 and Witcher 6 are the ones associated with that 6 year period starting with the release Polaris . All the other games announced are NOT related to that 6 years period. Each one of them can come before , middle or after that 6 year period, we don't know the timeline of those titles. And W3 NG is free for all users (PC and next-gen consoles) so thats why they have very short marketing cycle for this title.

Surely this time they do have a clear plan. I mean it sounds ambitious but so far as we've seen post cp77 launch they are changing a lot of things up.. Im hoping for the best + we need to understand that since they're now working in UE5 they don't need to develop and engine simultaniously with the game resulting in a much much faster workflow.

i am really worried about this. the first thing that immediately comes to mind is: edgerunners gives 2077 huge sales boost, CDPR find themselves flush with cash the likes of which they've not seen in a long time, management immediately loses their shit and upscales everything. im hopeful that they put at least a little more forethought into it but i am concerned this'll be a "win the lottery, buy 5 lambos, go broke because you can't sustain your new lifestyle" scenario

I would love to see more smaller games of big franchises that come out every 2 years or so. I rather play every 2 years a ~50h game than every 10 years a ~200h game where after 50h of playing I'm bored of the same gameplay loop.
@Altmer353
@Altmer353 Год назад
50h game every 2 years? Yeah, keep dreaming. Try 4 years for 20h and 5years for 50h+. Thats how game development works.
@zaristarian1200
@zaristarian1200 Год назад
@@Altmer353 Ubisoft releases every 1 to 2 years a 100+h game so I dont know how you get these numbers. From Software releases every 2 to 3 years a 50+h game. Its common nowadays. Of course there is a difference between releasing every 2 years and developing. Most 50h games were in development for more than 2 years. But I mean releasing every 2 years a game. Many companies work on a few games parallel to release every 1 to 2 years
@Altmer353
@Altmer353 Год назад
@@zaristarian1200 Yeah. And all Ubisoft games are shit. Copy of each other. Every Dark Souls is copy of previous games, on the same engine, with mostly same assets.(good games but lets be real, seconde one is bad compare to DS 1 and DS 3 ) Elden Ring was in development for 6+ years. If you want to see an actual great product. With good and deep story. Not just some mindless gameplay loop. Then you have to wait. Examples of games with 4+ year development cycle. The last of Us, Horizon, Spider-Man, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Bioshock, Dragon Age Inquisition, Elden Ring, Elder Scrolls series, Fallout 4, God of War, and a lot of others.
@zaristarian1200
@zaristarian1200 Год назад
@@Altmer353 Thats what I meant with Ubisoft for example. Instead of releasing every 2 years a massive 150h game why not only 50h with a smaller world but with more details and story. Thats what bothers me in ubisoft games. Same shit every year. Dark souls has copy paste assets but in this case I think it works because they are fun and have a interesting world. The games that you mentioned that took 4+ years are often also 100-150h games like the witcher, elden ring, dragon age, elder scrolls, fallout... If they would do smaller worlds they could finish in under 4 years. That was my point. Take those big great games, make them smaller but more detailed and by doing that they can release every 2 or 3 years instead of waiting for over 10 years for the next elder scrolls :D But of course there are exceptions like last of us or god of war.
@Altmer353
@Altmer353 Год назад
@@zaristarian1200 No. they wouldnt. Let me explain. Making game with 40-50h content could take 4 years, for example. But making the same game with 100h content will take 5-6 years. Developing foundation for the game, assets, mechanics, characters, initial story draft and some handcrafted stuff for main story. A lot harder than bunch of small quests and points of interest like in Ubisoft games. Ubisoft game mb has 150h of content. But out of those hours, 130 are mindless boring quests, without anything interesting. Creating those quests is really easy. It is a lot harder to make good 20-40 hours game, like for example new God of War, than some boring AC Valhalla. Thats why you should not expect devs to pump out great games every 2 years. Unless it is some trilogy like Mass Effect, with the same characters, and mostly same assets. Then you can expect to see new installment every 2-3 years, but not always. Depends on how much devs want to change their games each time.
