CD Projeckt Red has officially teased the next Witcher game. Here's what we don't want, especially after Cyberpunk 2077. Subscribe for more: ru-vid.com?su... #Witcher
One of the best things CDPR nailed about Witcher 3, is that every side-quest feels even better than most main quests in other open world games. It really makes me feel like a real world, not some sandbox video game that you control the protagonist to collect stuff and accumulate data.
I respect your opinion and it's 100% valid, but personally i didn't like the pacing of the game. Sidequests are alright but you gotta find ciri, cant go around doing work and sidequests. Kills the pacing
@Bully Maguire yeah, true. But that's the case only if you put the difficulty at lowest, cause otherwise you do need to level up. And roaming around doing sidequests and exploring is very nice, just not while the main quest is active. Basically i just wish there were pause moments in the main quest. Like for example, there cpuld be a moment when there are no clues available, and geralt doesn't know where to go at all. Then he could just do his thing. But in this game, when one clue is exhausted, another immediately appears. Idk, something like that. Cause imagine if you lost your daughter. You'd go crazy looking for her. You wouldn't stop by little villages asking who needs help, or play gwent with a blacksmith. You know what i mean?
@ Grant Wallace Very good point!! I can’t count the amount of times during a fight, I got stuck under some tent or fence or awning, all because Gerald cannot jump during combat!?!?!?!?
I was just thinking that lol. Imagine being able to rollover a table or fence while in combat? Small changes would go farther than striving for a game changing experience
I wouldn't mind Geralt not being present. He had an excellent sendoff in Blood and Wine and I don't think continuing his story beyond that by including him in future games not centered on him would do him any favors.
I agree. Three games seems/sounds like enough. For instance if we got an Ezio game after Revelations it would have probably felt "meh". So seeing Geralt as cameo would be just sweet.
No Geralt, No buy. The Witcher IS Geralt. Just like Legend of Zelda is Link, Metal Gear is Snake, Tomb Raider is Lara, Splinter Cell is Sam Fisher and Hitman is 47. Game will flop without Geralt character. People that want a new character are minority.
@@poethefallen1333 Whether we want a new character or not, we are obviously not getting Geralt again. It's "a new saga". That's what will happen regardless of our wishes or who is in the majority or minority. All I hope for is that his character is not ruined by making him a mere side character in a new story. Since he clearly is not a main character, and his story already concluded with a good finish in the third game. At the end of the day, Geralt is just a character they made in the world of the Witcher. And we can hope that CD Projekt Red will make another loveable, entretaining character again for the new game(s).
I can't imagine a witcher game without Geralt. The voice acting in the witcher 3 was the best among all other games of that time. Geralt did contribute the most to that aspect.
Me either not sure I can really get into it without him even if they make a female heroine like ciri. Geralt is to me the universe when it comes to the witchers and stories. Maybe if they do vesemir younger and training geralt would be cool so like a prequel I suppose.
There's a good chance Geralt will be involved in some way or shape. If they are going with something tied to the school of the Lynx then its even possible that it could take place not long after the wild hunt since that story takes place in 1272 in the witcher world, and the school of the Lynx was founded in 1273. I'm pretty sure lambert was one of the founders of the school of Lynx.
Thats why i dont want a next Witcher game. Witcher 3 is the big deal its the game of the games (for me also Cyberpunk) i only play those 2 there is NO other open world game beside also GTAV is as good as these 3. Just Witcher 3 on top for me. Im against a new witcher game if it goes south i dont want it to ruin the legend of the witcher verse. F that !
@@wildhunt6350 only play witcher and cyberpunk? what the fuk dude?! skyrim, whole dragon age, breath of the wild, ghost of fuking tsushima!!! also cyberpunk2077 was just "fun" but not the best! witcher 3? of course a masterpiece and made history!!! legend of the witcher verse? i hope you know in the books there is no witcher 1-3! it is totaly "fanmade" and it's not canon! the books ended when ciri lost in that tree! btw still the witcher games stories is very very good but not only geralt is the only one! vesemir also others with new lands!
I hope this game takes place before the books because at the end of The Witcher 3 the world isnt as populated with monsters as before and the need for Witcher's is nearly gone. In the book there are VERY few actual monsters in the world and the games essentially beefed up the amount for the players obviously. However a game set in the distant past would be perfect. 200 years in the past would mean Geralt wouldnt be in the game, but since Vesimir is around 380, we could see him in his prime like Geralt. Also we could still see Ciri since she can travel through time and she could be a cameo or easter egg. Then there are the monsters that have been extinct for centuries reappearing since it takes place in the past.
i remember when i was 100% sure that cyberpunk will have ciri cameo, one mission or something where she visits cyberpunk world by mistake. All we got was magazine in deck, in corpo path
I don't think it'll be set before the books.. There's alot of witcher fan-made schools and one of them is the lynx, supposedly started by Kiera Metz and Lambert, as well as some witchers from the cat school, as the school of the wolf does go extinct along with most schools
@@them_that_loudly Maybe, but in the books it has hinted that there have been multiple schools that died off in the past. The main problem is that after The Witcher 3 there are no where near as many monsters left, and the past three games covered many that are still around. If they go to the past then they could really have fun with the story and the monsters available.
I actually appreciate them moving to UE5. That allows them to hire devs that are familiar with a more universal engine and SHOULD allow for better optimization, updates, and wider creativity.
@@qorpraltv5276 It isn't a powerhouse of an engine. It's incredible on some aspects, but Nanite can't do foliage. That Matrix demo ran at Sub 30 FPS. UE5 will guarantee a poor last gen edition. Where are you parroting these ideas from?
@@qorpraltv5276 They don't really need an engine to process the game. You can make a game in plain code, even though it might be excruciating to make. An engine doesn't process a game though, it's just a toolset.
@@floatinggoose9197 Nanite limitations aside, poor optimization of content doesn't reflect a game engine limitation. UE4 and UE3 scaled better than any other game engine, so I would be utterly amazed if the same isn't true for UE5. But you do need to spend dev time optimizing, it's not automagical.
Bro they literally restructured the entire company and method of creating games, believe me, they were not just kidding when they said they would fix the whole Cyberpunk situation
I'm expecting something way before geralt something that focuses on the height of the Witchers where all the schools are prominent and accepted. That would be fantastic. Like the game takes place right when the main group got disbanded and split into 8 groups or shortly after that. It would be even cooler if they let you pick which school you are. I don't want any Geralt because it severely limits them and you shouldn't want geralt either that includes ciri
If it's gonna be like that, they should make it so we can go through witcher training and the trial of the grasses. You would start off as a child and grow older bit by bit. After you have finished your training and survived the trial of grasses, you set up on the path and you are free to explore the world. It doesn't even need to have a main story. Just let you explore and do contracts and side quests. It could be more open world than the previous games.
@@torakka2ow640 I think it would be even better if you would be an older witcher training youngins. Imagine having to make some decisions which result in some kid dying. I think it would be great for the storytelling and roleplaying aspect.
The number one highlight about the books for me was the high-stakes, intricate sword dueling. As much as I'll enjoy the monster slaying aspects of the game, I really want to see high-speed and varied attacks and abilities against challenging human opponents.
Yessssss you're one of the only people I've seen mention this. Fighting humans was genuinely more fun for me than monsters a lot of the time. Obviously monsters will be in it which is great, but I loved that about the books too and wish there was more of it. Geralt is superhuman and basically a medieval superhero, yet in the books I loved that this still meant he was only thiiiiiiiiiis much better than the best human fighters. He was a tiny bit quicker, a little stronger, able to gain an advantage through superior knowledge and tactics and oils and bombs and dancing about the place like an octopus on crack. But it was a close thing, and really sold the idea that even a godlike human is still a pretty flimsy, squishy thing : p
okay hear me out: withcher 4 with a combat similar to sekiro. also sekiro's combat works against mosters too, you fight a fucking king kong twice AND his girlfriend in sekiro, so I would love that
I honestly don't want to play as ciri for an entire game partially because it'll either be too OP or they'll have to come up with some far fetched reason as to why she's depowered at the start, yes sections where you play as her maybe even an entire chapter, but I'd personally like to see either an old geralt or a new witcher entirely that maybe allies with school of the wolf Edit: after searching school of lynx turns out school of wolf is disbanded and when lambert n keira leave they basically find some school of cat members and found lynx, so safe to assume we will be seeing lots of familiar faces along with some new ones/ characters only previously seen in the books, I'm going to make a guess for which equipment will be the rarest/strongest in this next witcher, school of wolf/wolven witcher gear 👌
Oh man I really wanted Witcher 3 to let me do my own investigations. That serial killer quest in Novigrad seemed to be that, giving you options to choose who you think the killer is: a monster ,a crazy man, a ritual murder etc..while most choices did not matter you still HAD to figure out who the killer was. I loved that. More content like that, I fully agree.
Geralt appears less and less as you progress through the books, and that doesn’t necessarily ruin the books. I also think the Witcher 3 was the perfect conclusion for Geralt’s story. Trying to continue it forcefully will ruin his character
How come? The books declined in quality towards the end when there was less Geralt. Just remember that stupid scene that lasted for 100 pages with 2 girls near the lake. And Ciri's character was quite lame when Bonhart wasn't around. If they choose Ciry to be the main character it'll be a disaster
@@alexwhite3830 To befair witcher 4 is a literal recipe for disaster. Its coming right after cyberpunk, the disaster. Almost no one from the original team is in. Geralt story is ended so we either have geralt again(cdpr milking his character) which is stupid because his story is ended anything else will feel forced or we have ciri, which is boring as fuck. I myself am absolutely not looking forward to it.
@@astrotecn yeah wholeheartedly agree with your every point. And one more thing that bothers me is that Russians were crazy about CDPR and supporting fellow slavs. Now since CDPR lost one of their big markets ... Just doesnt look well for CDPR
I just hope it lives up to the huge hype it’s going to rightfully get. The Witcher 3 wasn’t perfect but for me it was still right up with the greatest games I ever played. I enjoyed every second of being in the world and I spent a couple hundred thousand seconds in it lol I don’t need perfect, I just need a great story and an immersive, detailed world. I’d love to see Geralt back in a prequel setting with a world more full of monsters. I think that would be fantastic. I loved the monster contracts in the last game. I didn’t think there were nearly enough of them though
Not just for you. Witcher 3 was met - rightfully - with universal acclaim. This will be hyped up tremendously and with cyberpunk being what it was, they have everything to lose or to win. If they make this right, it could be fantastic. If they don’t, they might well close the doors.
I started my 10th playtrough yesterday and it amazes me how good everything is in W3...the graphics still challanges many games that were just released. I love it and man even after all this years i still can find new things i never saw before, it's insane!!!
*_Timestamps_* 0:00 Start 0:24 10. Doesn't run terrible on last gen (Another Cyberpunk 2077 situation) 2:12 9. Don't need a beast PC to run it. 4:59 8. Don't make console exclusive content 6:25 7. I would think a new medallion and school means a build your own Witcher RPG. Newly mutated initiate? Create your appearance etc? I personally would like to see it built more around monsters, go deeper into the investigative stuff and contracts.
nahhh wish they didnt do a create your own appearence stuff because those stories always suffer from a lack of character strength in the protagonist they have no voice lines of their own no strong beliefs of their own. i am playing skyrim right now just after playing witcher 3 it is very cool but the story i couldnt be more uninterested. they found a balance in the witcher games perfectly with the character not being a blank slate and having a personality but also doing some questionable things from time to time
I’d like to see a situation where you go through tutorial mode, then given your medallion and sent out into the world. Depending on the school chosen, you’ll start your adventure in a different location and follow an intertwined story following a major event (like the Falka rebellion). Each school gives a completely different POV of the same events. Like, a friend of the Wolf School Witcher is an enemy to the Cat school Witcher, and is only briefly mentioned at all in the Griffin school story.
That would be dope, though i don’t have much hope for modern game devs anymore, we’ll mostly towards their superiors who force unfinished games out for quick cash grabs
Well yes, but we don't want them stretched too thin. It's be much simpler to let us pick a school & all, then send us out into the world but still let us all experience the same story
Make your own Witcher character. And for the love of God stop using branches and stupid debris to cut your level up you should be able to step over it lol
I disagree with wanting geralt in the game. His story is finished and i think a new character can be just as compelling. No point in milking Geralts likeness, maybe for a secret side mission but not as a main character.
Some of the best things about Cyberpunk's first person was when you were OUTSIDE of combat, the entire game was built to take most of that perspective and they delivered, the game felt much more immersive than it would without it Cyberpunk DOES NOT work without third person (Plus, Cyberpunk's side quests are actually amazing and get mixed along with the main quest, the more Ubisoft-like stuff are the gigs and NCPD scans, and they are very clearly separated from the game's actual side-quests and are obviously gameplay-focused)
Personally I think for Geralt and most of the main characters from the first three Witcher games it is time to move to more of a side/supporting character role. The setting is interesting enough we don't need to constantly rely on Geralt as the main character. Ciri maybe, but with her additional powers I somewhat feel like I'd rather just have just a new Witcher where we can have a learning the powers and skills stage again, which would also work with introducing a new cast.
Pretty sure it will be a build your own Witcher RPG, they've already confirmed the emblem is an entirely new Witcher school. I would guess and hope a newly mutated initiate or something.
Exactly, even in the books, it was by no means just about geralt. It was the world that was pushing geralt to make decisions that he did. I still love geralt. But i think we can develop another interesting character within this world
Witcher 3 was always my favorite game, it feels like it will be near impossible to create a protagonist that I'll like as much as Geralt. I don't think we need appearance/gender changes here, a character never feels as good if they have changeable features. People should know how they look and act. I disagree with the detective mode stuff, I enjoyed it a lot and I hope they keep it . I also never hated Witcher 3's combat as much as other people seem to, it got the job done, the skill tree could be a bit more diverse for some more varying builds but overall it was okay. I also don't want a first person mode, in a perfect world I know people want it, but just having ONLY a 3rd person mode seems to just work much better, although skyrim does 3rd/1st person okay-ish? The best way for them to go I'd say is showing us a new set of characters, possibly set before Witcher 1, would allow for many more monsters to be in the world, and just a nice fresh story. Just hope they don't try too many new things.
gender change is not option in the witcher world when it is stated the witcher can be always man! aka the witchers never taked the girls just only the boys and no one seen female witcher until ciri! but even ciri is just a honorable member!
Yeah I always thought the combat was good if you played on higher difficulties. side stepping while whirling the sword around felt awesome, then cutting someone in two halves without it being made a big deal.(like the game doesn't slow down time when you do something cool, it just does it.)
After reading the books, and I've been obsessed with Witcher 2 and 3, literally thousands of hours played together, for me there is no Witcher without Geralt, i feel that he is the center of the Witcher Universe, I don't want him in the next Witcher as a protagonist, But I really want to see him with a cameo, or some memories about him, people(NPC's) talking about him, he's one of my favorite fictional characters ever
Tbf their engine is also very good looking, hopefully they hire some extra people to work on it so they can fix the issues on that engine for future projects, nothing beats crafting your own stuff. But yes, UE is awesome too
It's probably going to be a make-your-own Witcher type of thing. I heard the Lynx school thing didn't exist in the books so that's a telling hint already. I think Geralt and Co. should have their rightful rest rather than risk sh*tty original writing to extend stuff that's past the story that the books told. It would be interesting to experience the world after Geralt and Co. have left their mark on it and the changes they've left on it. It would be a great starting point as we players experience this beloved world past what the books showed us, and we'll be experiencing it all together as if reading an all new book. I just hope they don't f*ck it up. Bioware messed up when they decided to move to a different engine for a new game and then realizing that engine couldn't do RPG the way they wanted it to. I hope CDPR don't have the same experience. I also hope it's not some online multiplayer sh*t.
I feel like there wouldn't be enough monsters left in the world if it was set after geralts time. There were already a lot fewer monsters in the world of the Witcher 3( not really but that's how it's supposed to be).
The majority of the game Witcher schools don't exist in the books. In the game you have Viper school, Manticore school, Bear school, and Crane school, with the Lynx being latest addition. The books only mention Wolf and Cat, and a Griffin medallion, supposedly from Griffin school, but that's neither here nor there.
On god... I am having my 8th re-run on the Witcher 3 right now... After finishing Elden ring and getting everything... Wanted to refresh and there's nothing better than the good ol' Witcher 3 for me ... It still amazes me of how much there is, that's even yet to be seen. Omg it's awesome. Please don't ruin it... Wishing CDPR all the best... I'd wait 10 years for it, gladly.
11:56 in vampire the masquerade bloodlines they have a good system where melee is third person and it switches to first person when you draw a gun which I think worked tremendously
I and I think a lot of people would like for geralt to be "left out" of the new games or at least only have a very minor role cause the Witcher 3 ended with such a good ending for geralt and after blood and wine he should just live out his life in toussaint and he should just go in peace... I actually hope it's set before the main story of tw 1,2,3 or maybe even before the books, in the golden age of witchers
Would be really cool to transfer game save data over to the new title and have the new game find what ending you got and play off that for the lore. Like you see geralt and Triss in Kovir for her work and vacationing in toussaint lol
Well I found many cyberpunk sidequests quite interesting, there was a guy with a robotic problem in between his legs, a monk that nearly got forced to get implants, races, a random maniac killing bodyguards while shopping and so on
or the time that you crucified someone necklace blew my mind cuz it was so unsuming at first and then led to heaven conversation about faith and God which is a conversation I didn't think I was going to have in a cyberpunk RPG
Honestly, I don't understand the whining about Cyberpunk. Yeah, sure, the bugs were annoying but the game's main plot was downright revolutionary and all of the quests and content in the game just felt fun throughout.
@@daemianmatthews2062 I remember that one! I just don't understand that everybody thinks bad about the game now because of some bugs, yeah they were sometimes(you see them so rarely) gamebreaking, like gta 5 at the beginning was, but most of the time I just laughed because they were hilarious
@SERPENTSHADOW It's literally just whining about bugs (which happens with literally every game in this genre) and because people expected GTA in the future which was never what CDPR was promoting.
Don't forget Panam's storyline is also just a side quest, also is River's, Judy's, Joshua's, The Peralez'...Even Johnny and Kerry are "just" side quests! Cyberpunk is easily the game with the best side quests Cyberpunk clearly divides this kind of content and the NCPD scans and gigs, which are clearly presented as smaller gameplay focused content and yet this video makes it seem like Cyberpunk's side quests are bad and boring
I fundamentally have no issue with Geralt not being the main character. The problem I will have is that Geralt is extremely important to the story, and he's an incredibly made character and it's going to be incredibly hard to seamlessly replace him organically and not feel jarring. The replacement would 100% need to be just as likeable, but almost more so because people are not keen to change their mind on who they want as the protagonist, so just being as good as geralt is not enough. It would need to be exceptional
Its just concerning how most of the members from the witcher series left so were leaving it up to new members who may or may not know how and what made witcher great on a ground level. Like, i know i shouldnt compare, but elden ring literally managed to keep its best core qualities from previous titles and shove it into an open world and still make it rich and extremely full of tiny little details that add to the main story like the witcher 3.
Just copying my comment from another thread: their game director for the next Witcher game is Jason Slama, if you're into the Gwent community you'll know that he's really passionate about the Witcher world, I sure hope Witcher New Saga is in safe hand with is direction, and hopefully some of the W2 & W3 devs will return too in the future
Interesting comments on the handholding and puzzle solving. I woulda have agreed with you 6 months ago, but after playing Elden Ring my tune has changed. There’s definitely a fine line, but I’d much rather be told exactly where to no next rather than plopped into a vast expanse with no direction whatsoever. Either way I am buzzing for this game. Witcher 3 is my favourite game of all time and I just hope that this new one can deliver!
I think one of the points with side quests IMO is the series and lore or Witcher is so much bigger then cyberpunk so you can take these little stories and hints from all the series of the books and make them into side quests, plus with maybe abit of input from the author that would of helped with W3 compared to CP
@@turismofoegaming8806 cyberpunk isn't their creation, it's from a tabletop rpg. they did work very close with the creator of the tabletop though. the witchers writer on the other hand... yeah that guys a dick
I'm like 90% sure that most people commenting on here have already voiced the same thoughts as me, so I'll add this. A dedicated walk/run button would be nice. Sometimes in a game like the Witcher 3 you just wanna strole through a town while hearing your equipment shuffle amongst the rest of the city sounds. Like rdr2. I tried walking in the recent AC games but running frantically always feels more natural and it takes away from the bustle of the cities. Idk this isn't particularly huge on my list but it would be a nice little adage.
I wouldn't mind of he wasn't the main character, but I would like him in it at a great capacity, I would hope there would be more time sensitive quests, like if a monster is harassing a a village this monster can wreck the village if you don't act quick enough, although monsters were fierce. for instance I like when Detlaff gave a three day deadline. If monsters destroy places that you can get items making it more difficult. Also a higher chance of loot payout. Because getting gear that won't help especially after fighting a difficult monster although it makes sense that it would have armor that doesn't help as it wouldn't have helped the poor dude who was possibly hired before who most likely would have been wearing it.
I would love to see a Witcher game based far before Geralts story. Like 100-200 after the convergence of spheres when all these now extinct creatures were still around. Maybe even do something like cyberpunk where you have a set name but the freedom to create the cosmetics and possibly have a few main quest lines to give you infamous scars as you go.
Nah having your own character means it'll be like a skyrim character with no personality other than what the player role plays as and for the witcher I don't think that'd work at all
Let Geralt have his rest. At most I hope he gets a cameo side quest. Give us someone completely new. I can see why people would say the investigation sections were hand-holdy. . . but they are my least liked aspect of the general game. Part of the reason being I can't track the darn red footprints, if nothing else let us visually struggling people change the color to something more contrasting.
They do. Change the colorblind settings and you can make it blue or other colors. It’s what I have to do and the experience is better with some tweaks.
I'd love for the new game to include the characters from Way of the Witcher Gwent expansion. I would absolutely love to play as Gezras of Leyda or Erland of Larvik... You'd choose one and play the story, with each school's character having different abilities.
For witcher contracts they should have you try to do the detective work to figure out what the creature is like check stuff off in the bestiary, you could think it was a water hag that killed the people but it was actually a grave hag so having the black blood could’ve helped in the fight
My gosh I cannot wait for this game. I've been craving more Witcher content since I played tw3 back in 2016. I've read every book, watched the Netflix show and stuff. I just need more.
guess what - i've played and finished W3 with both DLC's on my PC years ago. i've finished it but was not ready to delete the game. i just left it there. i was level 52. recently, i just clicked on the game just to see it once again. i was in love again! the music, ambient, quests.... everything! i've played for a few days, went to level 53, did some old side quests, discovered some new places on the map, did some fighting... man, it felt good!!
A create your own Witcher would be amazing. I love all the characters from the Witcher trilogy but it’s time to put them too rest and revamp the series. It would be pretty cool to see an older Ciri or Geralt in the game as side characters or even just references to them.
They'd have to keep some personalisation to the character maybe you could decide some kind of speciality fighting style and customise looks but then have set names and a selection of pre written back stories, I suppose each witcher school specialises in different aspects of witcher stuff so they could make the main schools available to choose from each school having a set back story and changing interactions with each different person of interest so it also gives more reason for replaying, would certainly be interesting
The created character in cyberpunk was terrible, he didn't fit the deep world or the realistic characters. V was the worst part of cyberpunk. Unless they do it like mass effect I think a generic main character is impossible to pull off with how they write the game
I would not want to be some generic Witcher with no renown who quickly eclipses Geralt, or any other prominent character, in deeds as some chosen one. Dann near every other RPG does this. I'd rather actually be a part of the story, and not some nobody that falls from the sky with destiny coming out of my ass.
Also, the Witcher 3 to me had the best side quest of all time right up there with Skyrim ! Most the time I side quest had a feel of main quest so I never felt like I was wasting my time on useless quest ! I really hope they take there time in this one and give us a better Witcher 3 !
Wild Hunt is my all time favorite game. Give me more Witcher. Am a huge CD Projekt Red fan. I do think they learned alot from this launch. Bring it on.
Totally agree on your #3. I can still remember the time when I choose whether or not to kill the Werewolf that was looking for his lover. Man, things like that makes a side content, not a side content.
I recently started reading the books. The part where Lambert teaches Ciri to target certain arteries of a humanoid enemy, I think can be interpreted well in a game. Instead (or in addition to) the current critical hit mechanic where it is chance based, a revamped system where we could wait for the right moment, and target certain limbs or organs of the enemy, could be interesting. Each monster type would have different critical spots. It would be up to the player to read the bestiary, and take advantage of that information. Hitting those spots would cause different types of weaknesses. But, that might need more closer or first person camera, and some kind of cursor system to select the spots at right time during the combat. And yes investigation system needs a revamp too. I found AC Unity's investigation side missions to be pretty good. You talk to different people, collect evidences, but the character voice over doesn't tell you anything. At the end it is up to the player whom to accuse of the crime. In withcer some missions make you scratch your head, but Geralt's voice lines makes things quite obvious most of the time.
Love Geralt and would love to play as him again, but would be kinda cool if you could make your own Witcher in the fourth. Give you some range with making your Witcher more like you want them to be. Decide gender and stuff. And maybe our character would have Geralt as mentor or something. He could be our Vesemir.
I knew there would be. The last game was far too successful for them to drop the series as a whole. However I do hope they go with a New protagonist. Ciri would be cool, but I feel like her storytelling would be more limited in scope she's already an established character with tons of history. Personally I just hope the new protag is likable and we are visited by all our old favorites. Particularly, I'd love geralt to show up, but in the most minor way ever. Like he's chillin In a tavern or playing Gwent. That's all.
Would definitely like to see new lore explaining that the magus guild has been secretly building back up witcher schools thanks to triss explaining to them how the trial of grasses works during her experience breaking avallac's curse. Would also love character creation especially if cdpr brings in the different schools they've made lore for. But hey, I can only dream and I'd really love for cdpr to take their time and let this project cook to perfection so that way it's not a cyberpunk mess.
If they bring in character creation then we can almost guarantee it will not be as genuine of a narrative experience as the Witcher3 wild hunt is?? What is the main difference between the Witcher and Skyrim/Elder Scrolls games.. because you get to have so many limitless options in Skyrim, it means that the devs did not get to focus as much on narrative experience versus freedom of player which freedom of player is great, but when people play with your game they won’t that genuine sink your teeth into it and savor for hours and hours and hours until months have past, Narrative greatness
@@idkneededtomakenewacc2575 You misinterpreted what I was saying.. or maybe I just didn’t *write it well?? I was saying limitless options for player freedom in Skyrim and if you created richer this way it would take away the genuine narrative aspect of what makes the Witcher great and the limitless player options of freedom is what makes Skyrim great
I would have loved a game where you can play as vesemir when he was younger. I don't think it's going to happen because of the lynx medallion but we can always hope.
@@piusdoe8984 I will thank you pal. Most people bandwagon onto anything just to be in conversation just how it works. Edit- never did I say all the hate was wrongfully put out but people review bomb games they never even played before so I wouldn’t put it out of the thought. The last of us 2 is another good example
Having Ciri as the player character in the next witcher would be such a huge mistake for so many reasons. Hopefully it's just a completely new Geralt story
I hope there’s an opportunity for character creation but it’s extremely unlikely, as female (elves, humans, dwarves etc) can’t become witchers, though they could theoretically solve this by making classes an option, too (witcher, ranger, warrior, or sorcerer) but that is also extremely unlikely as it diverges too much from the originals. I think they’ve said in the past that Geralt’s story is done, though, I’m fairly certain they won’t use him for 4.
@@unintentional_smile Good points, I would like this too. I'm fine with male humans being the only witchers because 1) this makes sense as even girls in real life on steroids are only about as strong as a dude who's in average shape. You can take mutagens and potions but you can't change bone density frame size and muscle mass/growth/chemicals. And 2) even though they'll get called racists and bigots if the 4th witcher game is mostly white folks with just male witchers, it would make the witcher one of the onnnnnly series that still sticks to the lore or respects the fans, which goes a long way with us
Tbh Geralt's story is done. They should put his character to rest. Plus it said "A New Saga Begins" which implied that we will be playing as a whole new character.
@@unintentional_smile That's too complicated, and too much like all the cookie-cutter fantasy RPGs already out there. I don't want Witcher/Souls. Just make the gear and weapons relevant.
@@unintentional_smile can women not become Witcher’s? I thought it was that they never bothered actually trying to turn women into Witcher’s they only took little boys purposefully but that’s not to say there can’t be some new narrative in the future where a woman gets her hands on the mutations and tries it out on herself or other girls
I think the number 1 debated wanted/unwanted aspect for W4 is a customizable character. That would definitely hurt the cinematic and narrative story. However, starting fresh on a new saga with a witcher who is you is very attractive. Though it is a little ambitious particularly with a new unfamiliar engine.
That would be a horrible idea for a game so thick with lore and so heavily story driven. This isn't that type of rpg, nor that type of story. It's character driven through and through, and had already been established as that. Choosing facial features and the like would be very disjointing and give the game more of a video game vibe and take away from that feeling of experiencing a characters story (and this is coming from someone who can pour hours into customizing a face for a game. I eat that stuff up.) The route I would personally love, and predict, is a much older Geralt and ciri, with ciri being the playable character and Geralt being vesimir but much more prevalent, and them essentially starting a new Witcher school (hence the kitty). Add in the slow lead up to a war between morally grey factions, another well made love story, and an even slower burning spiritual threat and you got another goty
@@leestreet805 The character and narrative shit has run its course though. I want to put myself in the new Witcher 4 world. I don't care about Geralt and Ciri's story. Nor do I care about the monsters.
Normally, I'm pro character customization, but I think what made the Witcher great was the character of Geralt. You felt like you knew him. As much as I liked Dragon Age Inquisition. it got stale because the character I built no matter the race or class felt like of rigid. Far less personality than Geralt.
One thing I would like to see this time around would be some if not protection from cheats at least a code that if you mess with cheats your character turns red or something. Something so legitimizes real runs without cheats, that left a bit of sour taste in my mouth in Witcher 3 is probably my only gripe with the game. Still, the best game for me but that one thing would be appreciated. It just takes so much away when you can have a max character and there is no way to say if you just typed a few lines of text or got it by achieving it. I don't see people maintaining that aspect and I think its important and could be solved fairly easily as I give example before or in some other way. So if you would mak it like I wrote it would work because even if you can have a command to remove color after you cheat it you would just become colored again because it would come after you put that command in any way since you are using command and thats the idea. Who knows meybe it would be cool for players that want to have some different color to their character than normal to put in some commands on purpose to get that tint.
I'd really like to see some Fable/KotOR-style gameplay mechanics comeback when you can be good or bad on a deeper level. When you can use certain skills, abilities, and gear if you're good or evil enough. When you have more than 2 obvious choices. When the NPCs react depending on your reputation. Something like that.
I understand how important Geralt is, but I hope they can develop a whole new badass protagonist. Either with an all new witcher, or they can dig into the past when the Trial of the Grasses was still known.
Naah. a Continue would be better. Geralt needs to get such a End like Ezio Auditore in Assassins Creed Embers. you cant Name the Game "The Witcher" without THE Witcher. A Witcher Game without the OG's Characters isnt a Witcher Game.
@@thejugolord9354 like DraGanix said, they showed a school of the Lynx medallion, so it's definitely not Geralt. The best they could do is have Ciri founding her own witcher school, but I dont think that would be as exciting as seeing past witchers or even some of the founders. Imagine getting to see Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor in action (in regards to Harry Potter). I think they could move along that line pretty well.
@@cmike123 Yes I know its a Different Medallion but we still would have Time For a Petition. And Again A Witcher Game without The OG Characters isnt a Witcher Game. If you Really Play the Witcher Games because of its Map then Is your Reason Stupid. The True Reason to Play something should be, That you enjoy The Harmony,Romantic,Dramatic Parts from The Characters.
@@DraGanix33 I know. But theres always a Way of A Continue. You just need to know How. Santa Monica Studio made 8 Games about the Same Kratos, then why not CDPR with Geralt?!
@@thejugolord9354 I played the Witcher for the world and just the atmosphere of the game. Whilst Geralt was integral to the fun of that, what’s not to say that another Witcher (I’m rooting for eskel) couldn’t have their own different but equally interesting role in the continent and Witcher world?
As someone who just recently got the platinum for Cyberpunk, it's really sad how forgettable the fixers were. Definitely hope they get back in touch with their side content creation.
I've been playing since the new patch dropped on PS5 dude I get lost in the city. walk in every ally, bridge and street do every quests and haven't got burned out yet. amazing game. The game is in good hands
What I don't want to see is an Elden Ring style "we do not hold your hands" approach. In Elden Ring the quests are so vague, that you practically can't complete any side quest without looking it up on RU-vid. One of the many strengths of W3 were the great stories. That's almost completely lacking in Elden Ring. You can't tell a story if you can't find the next episode.
Well if you've ever played through any fromsoft game I'm not sure why you are shocked. The games have always been vague and you've always needed to find out the game yourself.
@@kalpeti1 compared to ds 1 there is a lot of hand holding in Elden Ring. The amount of "bonfires" in one area is more then the entire ds franchise put together. The game can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be, most players get stuck in one area and give up instead of leveling in a different area and then coming back to face the challenge again. I do admit the games are vague and almost the entire story is hidden behind even more vague interactions and item descriptions. That's what makes these games so amazing- I've finished all the from soft in terms of ds, bloodbourne, sekiro and even demon souls (the remastered version of course) and I have to say I've never been more in love and frustrated with a series as this. Compare to AC Valhalla I'm literally playing at the moment- it stinks. They hold my hand sooo much and it's so frustrating as they shove everything in your face. Even if you change up the settings one R3 button highlights literally everything in the area and leaves you with no sense in terms of "I found this". The game (Elden Ring) is relentless at times but it's stunning and beautiful in more than just visuals. Your souls (no pun intended) will thank you for playing through the game even though it's sometimes confusing. I truly believe given enough time and patience you'll truly appreciate the absolute masterpiece of a game - once you've walked through this canvas into a world that seems painted by hand you'll truly find you an appreciation for the lack of hand holding. Any way, I truly hope you play through it- if ever something doesn't make sense just hop onto Vaatividia on RU-vid- he does all the lore on souls born games. It mayne could put some perspective where things seem confusing.
I definitely would love the option to Make your own character and have more character customisation, I think it will still be cool to have a Default Canon character sort of like Male and Female "V" in Cyberpunk 2077, if there was ever a Second Cyberpunk game and V was in if I'd assume we'd see the Default Male or female V as canon... The same thing could apply to the new Witcher game... There is a Canon look for marketing material and whatever but we can make our own character 🙂
The Lynx school was started by Eskeil and Lambert after Vesimir died. Years after this, the new continent was being explored and settled. This continent still had a lot of monsters. So I image, we will be a young Witcher from the Lynx school, and exploring this new continent.
Both BF2042(frostbite) and CP2077(RED5) proves that developing and maintaining an in-house engine is costly and hard, especially during the pandemic. Moving to UE5 could mean that more time and energy can be shifted towards actual game developments rather than building the tools for devs. Also it would be easier to recruit talents who are familiar with UE5 because it is a widely available engine, unlike frostbite or RED.
The best Witcher 4 will be when I am a Witcher. Build my own character with adventures that are totally different from the main characters, but interconnected, and with new content continuing the Witcher 3 story. My dream is to be able to travel to many different worlds, add new powers, new items, new potions and even recruit companions to form a witcher brotherhood.
It wasn't just CD PR that hyped CyberPunk to the moon. It was also all the internet blogs/RU-vid channels that were constantly posting their own theories and content to generate clicks - Gameranx included. While CD PR has a fair amount of blame for the botched launch, I wish games media in general would stop speculating and posting about stuff years before a game is released.
I wonder if they'll pull Jedi Academy style and have you build your own witcher and your character interacts with all the pre-established characters from the previous 3 games
I've never understood what people's problem is that Cyberpunk has an fpp/fps view. I'm glad it turned out that way. Because of hacking and the use of firearms, it is a much more obvious and better choice than third person.
Geralt IS the Witcher. Without him there, my interest goes down tenfold. That character drives that series forward. I know for a fact I do NOT want to play as Ciri so either they need to stick with Geralt or create a new character that is just as endearing and that is a very tall task. Sometimes when it ain't broke, people really need to learn the lesson of not fixing it.
I kinda wanna see it like Red Dead Redemption. Everyone loves John Marston in the first game and wasn't happy that they switched mc. But in reality, Arthur proves just as good, if not better mc than John. So who knows.
I agree that the combat needs to be improved but I love the investigation you need to do before ultimately fighting the monster or completing the quest so I would love for it to stay. great video other that that.
I don’t mind create a character in certain games, but I want that as far as possible from Witcher. Part of what made the games so great is the story and character reactions are tailor made for Geralt - not just the jokes about his name, but mentioning a lot about his description and other elements of his personality. Far too many RPGs have blank slate create a character protagonists, and it’s simply not possible to have as intimate or real feeling story.
I think CD Projekt RED should start to research and study for a VR version for the witcher series. I really want to grab a silver sword and fight with monsters trying to hit the weak spots, using oils potions and so on, it would be great even if they make witcher 3 VR without any new story. I don't think it's possible with VR tools being popular today.
I’d honestly like to be able to make my own Witcher, and start from the very bottom to make my name legend. Maybe Ciri will play more of a mentor/teacher role as Geralt and Yen did to her. It’d also be cool if the next Witcher also lets you pick different paths, like perhaps being a sorcerer/ess in this new possibly more open Witcher school.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I would love to be able to play as a fully customizable witcher/sorceress. As long as they have their own personalities, though (so they won't feel like generic characters).
@@milozb8022 I was imagining more akin to Kingdom Come Deliverance, not something Elder Scrolls oriented. But limited to where Witcher 4 still keeps its well written narrative and connected characters. Just a little wiggle room in character choice.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sorceress (es?) are treated way different to Witchers, no? And there are no female Witchers (Ciri is the exception)? Because that would essentially mean writing 2 different stories for these two possibilities.. Probably not happening
Playing as Ciri would be interesting. Like, why wouldn’t we just teleport to another place when I am low on health? Or why would I walk there…? I’m Ciri
0:28 I just had the most timely... uh, bug? I thought it was intentional, my sound card(?) bugged out at this part and it was like "For it to run terribly onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" lol
I dont want a marketing campaign like Cyberpunk. Fakes demos and promises, night city wires, youtubers in the game (huge red flag) and selling ton of crap before the game releases (chairs, coffee cups, shirts, mousepads, etc)
I think a fun approach would be a create a Witcher start up and have Geralt be your mentor like Vesimir was to him, reestablishing the Witcher school. It would allow Geralt to still be incorporated but them to take the story in a new direction.
I think I want to see level scaling bosses. I felt at a certain point in the Witcher 3, I was pretty overpowered and could take on anything. The only few bosses that I had trouble were like the few main bosses. I also enjoy when games give you unique bosses that requires you to change your weapons and gear to be more effective.
I want that for quests I got to a point where their where a lot of really interesting quests I wanted to do but since they were lower level ones I would only end up getting 2 exp points and it really killed my interest in doing them. I just wanted to grind levels but it got really hard to do.
@@hariszark7396 Other races I don´t know. Can an elf do the process for becoming a witcher? I've never seen any 🤔 But I agree with you in the aspect of the saga, maybe that's why they have choseen a lynx (a new school), to suggest choices are coming
@@borjacarreterorobles791 I don’t know either. But we are talking about a fictional story in a book. Witchers supposed to be only men yet we have Ciri witcher.... Maybe we can see an elf too.
I really hope it IS with Geralt, if anyone has read the book you’d understand that it is not possible to creat a new Witcher. Possibly a prequel to the series during the Falker rebellion would be really awesome, which would allow a new story with a new cast of characters. (Besides some select mages)
if garalt is in the new witcher game, he will probably function like vesimer was in witcher 3 where he plays a role in the story, but because he's a bit older than before, he's probably going to be living within the monastery training in the witcher school, and hopefully adding more witchers into the world, they were pretty much dwindling in witcher 3, like where are all these other witchers in the world, we come across one guy and he's from another school and you can't even join or recruit him as a support character for your quest.
I agree with most of those as they are pretty much "well duh, of course we don't want that", the one I disagree with is about having Geralt be part of the story or not. I honestly wouldn't care if the story is set 100 years in the past or the future and we never hear about any of the characters we know again. I wouldn't really mind either way if it's a story about a predefined character like Geralt or a blank slate like TES.
I hope that we either play as Ciri or some other brand new character. I hope that we DON'T get a character creator where we can make our own. The fact that Geralt was a consistent character was central to the game when it came to the quests in that game.
@@solidsnake3962 A Mass effect approach is what they did with Cyberpunk, and while I enjoyed the world and characters, I didn't feel any particular attachment to V. In a game like Skyrim or Fallout it makes complete sense, as the stories you make for yourself are just as effective as the stories they tell you. But I don't think CDPR makes good sandbox RPGs, they make great action adventure games with RPG systems in it, for that you need a consistent character I think.
The only concept I feel that would blow my socks off if they go with a full rpg idea and have you create a character would be choosing from 5 schools and which you came from, each with different scenarios on how your law of surprise plays out. Cat, viper, griffin, bear, and wolf. Or switch out one or two for new ones for players to explore, like raven, lynx, hawk, or shark. I think it should be a prequel, since if you go into the future, you're only gonna have nilfgaard advancing more and more and the devs are gonna force their hand and trying to connect everything and drop Ciri or geralt in there somewhere and it could detract from them just making an immersive Witcher experience that shares a LITTLE of the lore we've experienced, but a new saga that tells new tales. Also, maybe a cool plot device would be two brothers, one taken by law of surprise, while the other grows to be some sort of bad sorcerer or war admiral or something, and you're at odds or hired by this brother or sister to do biddings throughout the campaign, just a seed. Stole the idea from what could've been a Mafia game. This game can be amazing, just make it work out of the box, make it immersive, and let a great thing ride into the sunset. Geralt is done, tell a new tale and just break away from the books in general. Some stuff can stay yes, but mostly just make it about the game now. Maybe throw vesemir in there somehow, or a founding of one of the schools. Many ideas.
Idk if this is just me but I would like a combat system that actually matters. Basically everything did the same thing in the Witcher 3 and the special armour sets did basically nothing.
