Re-Wheeling 576 | Road to Revival 

A major milestone in the revival of Nashville's famous steam locomotive has been crossed as the freshly rebuilt driving wheels and running gear of No. 576 were reunited with the engine's frame and boiler. Almost there. #576 is getting reassembled. They're doing great on restoration of NC&StL #576.

We need a event where all of the surviving 4-8-4 in the US go to one place and put on display for a week.

I can't wait to hear it chuffing down the rails! I'll definitely be riding it on the regular...just for the sake of riding a steam train. Gimme a seat as close to the footplate as you can!

I plan on visiting when No. 576 is operational. Update: I also plan to see CP 2816 next year.

I remember crawling all over the cab as a kid. Maybe it instilled my love of trains? I'd love to volunteer but it's over 250 miles. Some of the RU-vid machinist were working on the stoker engine. Haven't seen anything on that lately.

is the locomotive going to have its full streamlining recreated when its operational? i mean the side skirts and the fully streamlined nose, or will it look like how it looked on display?

Hey! Once this beauty is up and running, can it triplehead with ATSF 2926 and 3751? After all, 576, 2926, and 3751 are all northern types.

How often does Tennessee Central Railway Museum run excursions

Any news on the turntable they're going to put at the place where the excursion trains will be turned around

also will 576 even operate on the mainline at all?????
