We had a neighbor who was abusing a cat and the cat ran away and hid inside our house. Jumped through the window one day and refused to leave. The neighbor came looking for the kitty and we said we hadn't seen it (it was lying on our sofa). We moved away the following month and the cat went with us. That was six years ago. Cat's on my lap right now. You can tell everything about a person's character by how they treat animals. Anyone who'd be cruel to a helpless and defenseless animal will do bad things to people, too, if they get the chance.

Same. Had one lady come in for some problem with a pet (can’t remember what the problem was or what the pet was). I could hear the vet telling her all these options and she was turning each one down because of asinine reasons like “I don’t feel like doing that”. The vet eventually told her to leave if she wasn’t going to do anything. She’s one of my heroes.

I asked one time how I could volunteer in a shelter never found out any answers I like animals better than people anyway they're always honest if I ever were to get rich I have a feeling my house would be like Ace Ventura when nature calls lol joking but you get the point ;) I had four cats and three dogs they were all rescues they finally gave me a discount at the vet for a pet rescue I'm sure I would do it again

There’s something primal about this scene. It is the responsibility of humans to take care of certain animals and even though this scene wasn’t in the books, I love how it depicts a softer side of Reacher and helps to humanize him.
