Reacher stepping out the window that he just smashed open using a grown man is testament to how well this show portrays his larger than life character.
When he said “how about you be quiet, there’s adults talking” every single person sitting down, besides reacher, were overcome with a sick and nervous feeling about how bad it was about to be for the “adult” lol
@@taylorroberts8288 But yet they are the NCO's boss. But hey -- moral victory. And to head you off, yes I'm former military. So save me the "but the NCO's and chiefs" run the military lecture.
My friend how could you compare that scene to a place called hell as if you've been there no you've not been to Hell but you will be going to hell if you don't repent of your sin and receive the king of kings and Lord of lords as your own personal Savior and that name is Jesus the Christ the one and only by him you have life and without him you have death in a place called hell forever and ever for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have everlasting life Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh to the father but by me but as many received him to them gave you power to become the sons of God even to them that believe on his name
I sound like a curmudgeon when I say this, but the book(s) are a little better. I like both Cruise and Ritchson, they are both doing great jobs with the roll.
@@johnlozauskas778 I agree that the books are better. I don't agree that Tom Cruise was right for the role. I could never reconcile the 5'6" Tom Cruise with the 6'5" Reacher. Lee Child put heavy emphasis on Reacher's size - so much so that people were reflexively afraid of him. As big of an action hero as Cruise is, he could never be Reacher. Alan Ritchson is the perfect embodiment of all that Reacher is perceived to be in the books - a nice guy who minds his own business - until he encounters wrongdoings. Then he can and WILL take care of business! Ritchson doesn't need movie gimmickry to get the job done, either.
If there's one thing I've learned about the Army, you do NOT talk down to an NCO. If she's a Master Sergeant she probably has the respect of entire Platoons.
TBF ive never heard an officer downtalk any enlisted, especially in that direct of a manner and especially an NCO. People are usually pretty professional.
'You do not mess with the Special Investigators.' I love the way that throughout the series, the 110th all seem to compete to pronounce it often and with new levels of menace.
@@TommyBravoOG LOL, this is not good acting. He is a physical presence and does okay with action. He's actually better at comedy. Check him out in Blue Mountain state.
I like the change in expression the sergeant made when she was told not to talk. See doesn’t mind leaving cause she’s an Enlisted soldier in an officer bar, but does take issue being talked to like a child rather than an adult.
Exactly. I didn't mind following orders given to me by my Superior Officers. The only ones I had an issue with were the ones who treated me like a little kid. I had an Officer in a squadron (which we learned later was our own job field on another deployment. We were 355 ESFS (I THINK that's what it was. It's been a while 😂), and this unit was 455 ESFS. I pulled their chow-runner over for going 55mph in the basewide 25mph limit. I would have given him a break because he was SFS, but he was driving like an idiot and nearly crashed, and he copped an attitude with me when I went to talk to him. We let him go, and then his Captain called my Major and tried to yell at him about me, and needless to say, it didn't end well for the Captain. Later, when I ran into some guys from that 455 Unit by pure chance, they tried to say their Captain yelled at our Major and I quickly corrected them saying it was the other way around, because I was standing with my Commander when he called their Captain and I heard the whole exchange.
The thing is... nobody was bothering the men who approached the table. The men who approached already had mayhem on their minds. The threat was made in a not so cordial way. Unbecoming an officer or a bar on a military base.
The reality is she was likely invited, guests are allowed in officers clubs and almost no officer worth his spit would ever treat a master Sgt that way.
That’s a perfect casting choice, but knowing Hollywood they would try their best to screw it up. The fans need to take it upon themselves to give the Duke his respectful film.
@@masterzombie161 Alan Ritchson already has the same quips and body language in Reacher that can easily translate well to Duke Nukem. He'll never have the iconic Jon St. John voice for the character, but I think it would work out just swell with Ritchson. Give Ritchson a flat top, sun glasses, some lines, and send it. However, like you said, Hollywood would just botch it, because everything is so woke. They'll just bash Duke Nukem for being sexist and a misogynist. Ritchson probably wouldn't want to get canceled over the character. Just saying though, in a fantasy world, Ritchson would be perfect for the part. Of course, could just go with the N64 version, and leave out the sexism and misogyny. Would still be pretty good I think.
My brother was in MI in the Army in the 'Nam era. Never got above corporal. Worked in civies. Lived in officers' quarters, ate in officers' mess, access to officers' quarters, never saluted anyone under a Major. His job you ask? Breaking into high security military bases without getting caught. Writing up reports based on their success.
We still write TVA's to this day (Threat and Vulnerability Assessments). If he did that he was likely a 97B (35L nowadays, Counterintelligence Special Agent). That would also explain the civilian clothes. It's common for CI and CID to both wear civvies so that they're investigative authority isn't compromised by rank. Source: Spent 8 years intelligence from 2006 to 2014, 4 years HUMINT, 4 years CI.
@@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302yeah but in order to be a CID or CI special agent he would have to be a E5 or above but this guy said he never got above corporal, of course he could just be mistaken It also kinda sounds like he's describing the Red Cell program but that didn't exist during Vietnam, and I'm pretty sure only SMUs did Red Cell operations of which you still have to be a E5 or above to be part of.
@@TacticalToast99 actually it was just a brief period where you had to be e5 to be a counterintelligence special agent. Originally it was an entry level MOS and they’ve actually changed it back. When I was in it was e5 and above.
@@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302- I remember when he got out of the Army, he would sit around with a string of padlocks of all kinds of makes and models and see how fast he could pick them all. Apparently, the Army sent him through Lock Picking School to help him in his trade. Ha! He also learned Korean.
@@daverave3698 Yeah some of the old timers at CISAC bring out some of the spy cameras and lock picking kits at some point during the course for a little history lesson. If he learned a language he probably went to DLI. It was common for both HUMINT and CI MOS to require language training before the waivers happened during the war on terror.
I have to say, besides the fact that Alan Ritchson gained more weight since season 1, he's also aged a bit. Has some more wrinkles. And it makes his character seem even more convincing. Season 1 Reacher was still a baby face, this one is a MAN.
I know right lol….. I’m in a aviation unit so I’m around majors lieutenant colonels and w4s-w5s all the time and none of them would ever be the disrespectful to even E5 let alone a E8
Not to mention he has no idea what she is capable of doing on her own. That dude was lucky he tangled with Reacher and not her, he'd of ended up in a complete body cast.
You’ll be surprised by how many idiots think they’re above because of their rank but never show respect my uncles tell me it happens a lot in the army and Marines
The indication of a great officer is somebody who has immense respect for his NCO's. The indication of a bad officer is somebody willing to demean an NCO. Reacher was ready to throw hands to defend his NCO, because that's what great officers do.
@@angelbangtana9885 What "space"? That was a bar. If enlisted get invited by an officer, they can be there. You wouldn't know a real officer if you saw one. 😂
@@lonknight3197 OH TRUST ME, I LOVE IT. I know whatcha mean but in this scene it was only Jack and David doing the fighting. In real life though when it’s your group of friends against another group who’re a bunch of tough guy wannabes the rush is something else. Especially when you brutally win
You know, maybe it's me, but I've seen people climb out a window, jump out a window, and fly out a window. But when I saw Reacher *step* out the window, I thought, "Uh-oh."
Neagley needs her own series. Smart and capable without being prompted up. You know she can spot you and kick your A55 not because they need to check off WOKE points for the Award Commtties, but because she EARNED her skills.
The next morning, MSG Neagley probably went to the other officer's 1SG to arrange remedial education on respect for fellow Soldiers regardless of rank. 1SG was probably smirking, "No problem, MSG. I got this."
This version of Reacher reminds me so much of Geralt. Stoic but brutally realistic. Geralt faced with 4+ foes "Better round up someone else to help, three of you don't stand a chance against me"
Alan literally has to play Batman since he got the understanding of how to calculate, organize and focus to go forward with his next move. Perfect choice .
@StarmanBey no I'm just saying that most of his career has been spent as a superhero so I doubt he wants to go back to being a superhero in the near future it's called type-casting and it's a real issue for actors
@@yobama6052 yeah i was impressed i thought for sure he would want to take a break from superheroes since so much of his career has been as super heros
“If you don’t know the difference between right and wrong , raise your hand!” My son actually said this to his Joes before giving them weekend passes. He didn’t want to bail them out of jail for fights, drunkenness, general unruliness! It worked apparently!
The elitism in the officer corps is one of the biggest detriments to recruiting right now. Watching LTs challenge MCs in the Navy was a favorite pastime of mine while in the E4 mafia.
E-4 Mafia? Navy? Pal, in the Navy if you don't reach E-5 you messed up somewhere. An E-5 in the Navy is like the E-4 rank in the Army, it's the most common rank. It's the NCO Yakuza there. Elitism isn't nearly nearly the biggest problem. You don't have perspective even if you try. If you don't get promoted to sergeant (E-5) in 8 years in the army, you're out. There's a limited number of jobs for NCOs. There's also that issue with health problems that are service related but the armed forces don't want to admit it. There's the calls back to the base for no real reason the sergeants do during the weekends. There's more.
And Reacher season 2 would probably be just 6 or 10 episodes.. more please! A two book tv adaptation for season 3 for at least 20 episodes.. Just a Reacher fan Christmas wish.. Merry Christmas to one and all 😊😊
Wish they would adapt Never Go Back in Season 3. The book is one of my favorites after Killing Floor, and the movie did it dirty. It's rare for Reacher to have truly competent companions, and one that can order him about at that:P The book was too complicated a mess for a movie imo. It suits TV way better. Besides doing the book dirty, I feel the did both characters dirty too. Both Reacher and the Major. Reacher became this absentee father-figure who had no interest at all in any child. While the Major became more a damsel in distress who kept moaning about the need to care for the girl. And that teenager did not need to be there either. She was a happy one living a good life in the book, and had no bearing on the story. She was just there imo to highlight Reacher's character. He had no problems walking into what was obviously a trap, in order to learn whether he actually had a kid or not. No way in hell he would just ignore it, as long as there was even the slightest possibility she was his. More so hearing about her horrible living conditions, which turned out to be a lie ofc.
What I really loved about season 1 is that it was very accurate to the original book. No major content added or removed. If season 2 is like that then I know I will enjoy it a lot.
When a guy just walks through a broken window without breaking stride like Bo Swensen in Walking Tall stepping up onto that loading dock, you best just let him finish his drink.
I've read some people critical of Ritchson's acting ability. I can think of a great many 'stars' who weren't great actors but great screen presences. John Wayne and Arnold Schwarzenegger just for 2. I would say Mr Ritchson is a better actor and at least as good of a star!
I guess when it's Hollyweird, you might as well go ALL the way off the rails! Officers getting in a knock-down drag-out over a Master Sgt. in the O-club, STOP, yer killin' me over here! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄🙄🙄
And once again a show gets it wrong. No Officer would ever disrespect a MSG like that. That MSG would’ve gone off on that dude like there’s no tomorrow.
@@Paradox3713and then he says “you’re a msg, almost everyone outranks you” which is absolutely not true 😂 There are more enlisted personnel in the Army and nobody ever looks at a msg and thinks wow, what a low rank.
In the actual Army, (30 year retiree) Reacher, his team & everybody else involved would have been in the brig, facing a hefty U.C.M.J. Field Grade Article-15/Court's Martial. Being that they're C.I.D. it would have gone MUCH worse for them. The MSM & PAO would have had a field day with the story. Entertaining, yet not the least bit realistic. Still, I've read all the books, & love this series!
But wouldn't someone have to report the crime? Isn't possible the other guys would know they were wrong and take the beating and just say a deer ran through the bar, or something?
As a retired Master Sergeant, it would be completely OK for me to be in the "O"-Club, so along as there was an invite. I would politely refuse, and thank them for the offer, of course. My dad was also career military, and he retired as a Master Sergeant as well, then went civil service, and made it to GS-15 (Colonel equivalent). We moved overseas to Germany when I was 14. He joined the officers club immediately, and let everyone know he was a retired SRNCO. Heh heh heh.
IRL, anyone with more than a year or two of active service, enlisted or officer, would know not to anger a CID Major as he is 1) not in anyone on the post's direct chain of command and 2) probably one of the highest ranked military law enforcement officers on the post.
