I have all the Lee Child books. Enjoyed the Tom Cruise movies of “Reacher”. Not by the book by good films. This “Reacher”, is by the book, sort of and giddy good. Love it

I think its important and respectful to have the title role portrayed by an actor whom the creator believes best matches his inspiration character! I knew of the description that applied and upon seeing this actor in the role, I felt it was just perfect. The actor has that formidable presence, strength of character, determination and contained capacity for violence that the creator brought forth. Likewise, he has the intelligence and professionalism that his military career required, and great humour, too!

You summed up Reacher perfectly. I am a Reacher junkie to be honest. Currently reading the entire series - again - this time in chronological order. I finished Killing Floor two ago. As soon as the cell fight appeared, I could see it unfold from the series, and I was thinking 'oh boy, just take back what you said, or you're toast'. There's just so much to pick and choose from. I wish they'd stuck to chronological order, rather than hopping around.

Reminds me of my cousin "Big Bill Little". He was my hero when I was young,. He became friends with Rocky Marciano while stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington and became Rockies sparring partner. I first met him at the Loggers Jubilee in Morton, WA. Big Bill did indeed “quit fighting”, yet he walked away with an impressive record of only two defeats in some forty-eight fights, all this was explained in an interview he gave in 1964 whilst appearing at the New York World’s Fair in the guise of the giant mythical American archetype, Paul Bunyan. Whilst reminiscing about his past he took time to reflect on his brief meeting with Marchegiano some eighteen years earlier.

Having the author himself wanting to be a part of the project and have his say makes book to show adaptation great. Something D&D never learned and had to fuck up half of GoT running time.

I haven't seen the movie but I've seen these snippets of Reacher. I am really enthralled with what I've seen.

Reacher is a perfect character. You just don't find that too often. He's likeable but not sickly, he's kind, but also scary, and the books are simple , entertaining without being too complex or heavy. And with the perfectly cast Ritchson as the lead this should could run for years. They should be filming 2 series a year not 1.

I've watched the Amazon Reacher series multiple times, I can't get enough, and this from a person who generally watches maybe one movie a year.

Tom Cruise nailed the character so well I was 10+ books in before I could see Reacher as a tall blond dude.

I had seen the movies first and had enjoyed them as good action films. Before the series came out I had started reading the books and then I watched the series and I can honestly say that Alan Richsen IS Jack Reacher! He plays the character just like Lee Child wrote Reacher! Aside from Tom Cruise not physically matching the character, in the books Reacher is a muscled up Sherlock Holmes but in the movies there's not enough time to truly develop a character like a TV show is able to. I hope that the series is faithful to the books and doesn't try to keep characters from the first season because they are popular. In the books there are very few recurring characters and I hope that they follow that formula.

One question I have about reacher, is that every law enforcement agency he had contacts with don't do any tracking and reporting, so he's always a shadow to who finds a problem. Reality is, nobody in today life could live this way. Not on a social security based income. Many of my friends from my Marine Corps life are either dead from suicide, or homeless and despite all of my efforts to maintain contacts, some just don't want contact . Which is kinda sad since those are the blokes that were closest to me. I've always felt that I failed them. Buy I also know that I can't take responsibility for their own actions and lives, even when I really feel that I was responsible for their experiences in the Marine Corps.

This has the feel of a modern day version of Clint Eastwood and the hero's journey, the original three season's of Star Trek, Stranger days or Tom Selleck' multiple movies about the alcoholic police chief in Paradise, Mass.I see this as a series that maybe helps rite the ship in the quagmire that is broadcast TV and Holyweird franchise series. There is an over abundance of woke, crappy, lazy writing, plot flow, character building and universe building out there at the mo. Remakes upon triple remakes ad nauseam. And yes, the actors deserve Kudos!

Best series since "Justified." Much better, and more believable, "Reacher" than Tom Cruise. "Top Gun" I and II both rock, though. Good on you, Tom.

I've power watched this season 3x already. I've read all the books and was so disappointed in general with the TC movies. Not even close to the Reacher in the novels. Alan R nailed this and really hope to see him in many more seasons!

Great review. Would love to hear you review the TV series Longmire, modeled after a series of mystery novels of the same name. Was on A&E then Netflix for a total of 5 seasons I believe - similar character development and depth as this one. If anyone liked Reacher, I suspect they'd like Longmire too!

First read the book,the killing floor. Blew my mind! I recommend reading this book. This actor nails the part. He radiates confidence which a very dangerous man has.

I watched the first. Hooked. Binge watched for the next two days.

You can't change Iron Man, you can't change Thor, and FINALLY, you can't change Jack Reacher. Just perfect.

I just realized something - I like to think of myself as... as somewhat talented as a ‘potential writer’... I’m not certain that’s true but I like to hope that I am. But the really profound thing about ‘Jack Reacher’ is not that the ‘central character’ (of Jack Reacher himself) is not only profoundly well written and complex, most of the other characters are equally well written...

This would be better if there was more footage supporting the character's personalities. What they left out.... Reacher is playing 3-D chess, while most others are playing checkers.

Alan really outshines Tom C. in every way in the Reacher series.
