As always, I get more of your inner monologue by watching your face than I do from a lot of other people who talk all the way through a reaction. I love that about you! Very much looking forward to seeing how that translates into your acting (at least I hope you'll be sharing some of your acting with us, not just your directing... Very much want to judge the heck out of you! Kidding, I kid...) From having conversations with my parents, from having conversations with my brother who has two girls, and from having been kind of thrown into the deep end of parenting by becoming a step-father to a 13 year old girl, I can tell you this: all parents have no idea what they are doing. All parents are terrified of the responsibility that comes with having a kid. All parents make mistakes, some of them big, big mistakes. To a child, though, however you are, whatever you do, no matter what mistakes you may or may not be making ... as you said, you are their world, and they judge the world by what you do. Whatever their life is like, that, to them, is just what life is. Kind of trite, I know, but true. As long as you are not actually abusing them, they will accept whatever you do as the right thing to do, by definition, because it is you doing it. This all lasts, of course, until they become a teenager, whereupon absolutely everything you do is absolutely the worst thing any parent has done ever, but they grow out of that. Eventually. Mostly. Anyhoo, just trying to make the point that whenever you do get around to a place where you can seriously consider having kids ... don't let that part of it deter you. You'll do fine. Everybody figures it out as they go, and while our mistakes definitely warp our kids, with just a little bit of luck they'll end up a bit less warped than we are.

I don't know why, but when ever i watch your videos your emotions literally rush into my head and body. I don't understand how, but i see you tear up or smile or anything and i swear i can feel the emotion you're feeling it's the strangest thing.

I know you have probably heard this endlessly, but everything you hold in your eyes rocks me with an overwhelming connection. You're the kind of human I could talk to for hours.

Your reactions to this song are basically mine to most of NFs songs. Great vid. Parenting...phew! What a topic. I have some experience helping with my niece and I would like to have kids and have been fascinated by the subject as well. I have been studying a lot of psychology and behavior to try to figure these things out. The examples I had from my parents were not good; a lot of trauma in their childhoods that they never overcame. I am grateful for being here, but I mostly learned about what not to do from them. I learned a little more from my siblings and otherwise, on my own, but not without a lot of damn pain. I dealt with anger issues, nihilism, depression, anxiety. I used to feel exactly how you did about kids and family. I did not feel the pressure at the time and thought I had to just keep working hard (was not false). I thought that I would be a terrible father based on the past and those mental troubles. What kind of example could I be to a kid? How can I help them when I can barely take care of my own problems? I have been married now for over a year and things have been better than ever. I know that I definitely want children now. I have worked very hard to study and think hard about what to do, and from my mentors and studies, I think I know what to do. I may not be correct, who knows? But I hope this helps: Children are pseudo copies of their parents, but they are not their parents. There are inherited traits, but one of the biggest mistakes parents can make is assuming their child will be exactly what they want their child to be. Children are their own people. There are measurable personality traits called the Big 5 Personality Traits, which people are born with. Some of them are more malleable (Conscientiousness, for instance, which deals with Industriousness and Orderliness), while some appear otherwise (Openness, which deals with Intellect [an interest in things and how they work] and Creativity [the ability to make new, non-idiosyncratic things]). You can see these traits immediately in children. Some are calm and only cry when they absolutely hurt for something, while others are very demanding. It expands quickly as children gain their senses and literally start groping and mouthing the world to understand it. Basically, children, and thus, people, all have their own character and personality, which highly predicts the things they will be interested in and some of the ways they may behave. This is only one aspect, but easily demonstrates that children and people cannot be made into what you want them to be, per se. That isn't the job of a parent. The job of a parent is to be a filter for society and the world; in other words, to prepare children for the world. I often used to think I could not be a parent because I was not a good enough example, but when I was finally able contextualize parenting this way, I realized that not only could I be a parent, but I really wanted to. It's a big topic and I could go on about your stated feelings and possible dilemmas, but it's not a discussion I would initiate further publicly. I hope this was of some use to you (and not so long and boring you did not fall asleep). Growing up poor really steered me away from starting a family, but during high school I ended up being irresponsible and getting my girlfriend pregnant. we broke up for a year and i wasnt a good dad, but watching my daughter grow from a far killed me so i manned up and handled my responsibility. I am proud to say we have been married for 3 years now and we have a second little girl. I dont think i would work as hard as i do if it wasn't for them.

What I've come to terms with as I grow up is that I can't choose anything in terms of love, I can't choose the person I'm falling in love with, I can't choose when I want to be a dad, I can't choose if I even want to have children As a child I always wanted to be a dad, as I grew up I realize there's a lot of responsibility tied to that role As a teenager I liked a girl just because she was pretty, as I grew older I entered my first relationship with a friend I never thought I would fall in love with So I'm currently just living life, I went through a break up some months ago and I'm currently doing what I believe works for me, which is living The dad thing, only time will tell, having a kid is a big responsibility that it's made when you find the right person, at least that's what my parents say and I think it makes sence, they never wanted to be parents until they met each other and realized that that relationship worked and that their love could become something more and so I was born Like the music says, if you want love you will have to go through the pain, you will have to change, it's scary to be a parent, it's painful in many ways, not just the pain of giving birth, but the pain of making everything work, there will be fights, there will be scares but most importantly, if you want trust, you will have to give some away, everybody has to trust each other in a family to make everything work, without trust everything will break apart eventually

Hafa adai my fellow human. Loved your reaction and heart on the sleeve comments. My advice is based on my experience and history. I grew up in a bi-racial family in Chicago with a very narcissistic father who taught me and my 4 siblings hard work ethics/. No matter the "hood drama", I listened to my grandfather (who was on a pedestal for me) and joined the military to get off the streets and finish my college. I married very quickly after I enlisted and right away I wanted a family. What did I know at 24yrs old? I thought being married to a friend love would conquer and I'd have a movie type of normal family. A decade went by and we had no children. When I got fed up by her infidelities and craziness, I divorced her. At the court, she revealed she had been preventing her pregnancies, that she never wanted kids, and that her motives were incompatible with my yearning. Shortcut after some disastrous dates, and a brief relationship that I'll share another time, I met this woman online. We talked about everything and anything. Just platonic. Until one day I volunteered at a local project to help and I saw her in person for the very first time. Fast forward a few dates, a whirlwind of sexy moments, and I was addicted to this woman. It didn't matter that she had 5 (yes FIVE) sons from a previous marriage (she was abused, manipulated, cheated on, the gambit). He left a void for me in the boy's lives. One that I felt in my heart and soul was the role I was created for. To build young men. Some damage was already there in them, but I pray that, TEN YEARS later, each of them has a core of a moral compass and treats their girlfriends like queens in training. But my world erupted when my 40+-year-old wife announced after a decade that she was pregnant. Our baby boy was born 18 months ago, and this video captured the heart of what I've gone through as a father. My parenting style is far different than most families. Plus when my queen and I disagree or have a misunderstanding, we learned the hard way, we always have an audience. Even if they are not in the room. I see it in their behavior, their eyes, the thoughts that swim through. And I wonder....can I be a better example? Of a man. Of a father. Of a husband. In this torn world, the social media constraints and information overload on their core selves -- did I do my best by them? They have seen me at my PTSD lowest. They have seen me at my most mistake-ridden. They have never seen me through with another woman. Never seen me with toxic masculinity. Never seen me bully another person. Never seen me drunk, high, or laid out naked. I don't say that as throwing shade. I'm stating that I want them to see a noble, honorable man that they can use in their own lives as an example. I am self-confident. I am not about driving high-end cars or need jewelry. I am comfortable in my own sacrifice of my own wants and needs to provide and protect them. Our oldest passed from cancer, the next is in the Army and engaged, the next is full-time work and steady relationship, the next has a female best friend, and another son who works hard and is entering college in the fall, and our latest addition that came into this world --well he is a year and a half old and he is the spark of all of our lives. I see him want to brush his teeth when I do. He takes my shoes and tries to wear them. He beats the hell out of me when he plays. He hugs his momma when she is angry or in a mood. He laughs with his whole heart. And I wonder - this new human being -- these young men making a journey in this world --- what human beings they are and what lays in their destiny. Gabriel, let me tell you a secret. I would do it ALL OVER AGAIN. Every blood, sweat, tear. My military career, my childhood in Chicago, and most especially marrying an instant family and raising five, no SIX, phenomenal sons. Was it hard. Yes. Was there mistakes. Yes. Is my parenting done. No. I love each of them because each of them has helped my heart and soul grow more than I ever imagined. And that is my story and I'm sticking to it. =)

Understand your thoughts..I have four children and I think like that still..and I see other parents just wanting to see themselves in there kids and that makes me feel bad..if you understand what I mean..If the world is going to develop we can't just make copys.. You have a beautiful mind 💗
