Honestly, Spam isn't terrible but it's not a great quality meat. It's just heavily processed, cooked, meat in a can that lasts forever on the shelf because of the salt content. From my understanding, it became really popular in Japan and Korea after WWII/The Korean War because it was part of American soldier's rations and the locals got a hold of it and really enjoyed it.
