Before BTS first debuted their CEO wanted them to be a hip-hop group, not rap but he later on decided being an Idol group would be better. The first person to join the group was RM (namjoon) he caught the eye of the CEO in 2009-2010 because he was up and rising in the underground rap scene in Korea. RM eventually became the leader of the group. Suga (Agust D) followed closely behind because he too was part of the underground rap scene. We can say RM and Suga have been together for 3+ years working on music before BTS officially debuted in 2013 with 7 members. The last rapper J-Hope learned how to rap from Suga and RM, he was originally a street dancer. Today J-Hope is the dance leader for BTS =) I hope this clarifies some info! I also want to clarify Agust D can be seen as Suga's alter ego where he freely talks about his insecurities, depression, anxiety and mental health not about how BTS made it. He doesn't make music to diss other artists either but he said "if you feel attacked that's your problem", if the shoe fits basically.
