13 year old Angelina created a genius arrangement and delivered a vocal performance for the ages on one of the world's biggest stages. Please take the time to read the bio I compiled for my all time favorite musical artist. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RU-vid. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English, Japanese and Swedish. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on RU-vid went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a RU-vid video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. Angelina was listening to jazz in her mothers womb as her grandma Mery Zamani, also a prodigy in art and poetry, played jazz all the time from birth. She is perfect with any genre and there is usually a hint of jazz. Child prodigy. She began searching the web for jazz at 3, started attending a school of the arts in Oslo at 4. Opened Norway's Got Talent at 7 to eventually wain at 8. At 8 she performed in Europe, Asia and America. Also at 8 she was asked by Stevie Van Zandt to appear on the Netflix show "Lilyhammer" acting as a nightclub singer and sang "I'm A Fool To Want You. At 10 she opened for Nora Jones in Korea in front of 40,000 fans and sang on stage with Alan Walker on piano singing his hit songs "Sing me to sleep" and "Faded" in front of a huge crowd and streamed live to his millions of fans worldwide. At 12 Quincy Jones asked her to open his concert for his 85th birthday celebration at the 02 Arena in London. At 13 appeared on America's Got Talent with Bohemian Rhapsody that went viral. At 14 signed with Republic Records (United Music Group) as a "high priority" artist. Since 8 years old she has befriended many stars. All of the things I have mentioned are on video and her performances, even at 8 years old will blow you away. I have never had an artist appeal to me the way this young girl does. Yes, she's 13 years old here(is currently 16 years old), considered a child prodigy that loves jazz, won Norway's Got Talent at the tender age of 7 years old, been singing since she was 1 1/2 years old, has over 150 videos of covers and some original music on RU-vid, her die-hard fans are called Angels, and she is known as The Barefoot Princess/The Barefoot Princess of Jazz. Why does she always perform barefoot? When Angelina was 6 years old, she met a homeless girl around her age in Iran. The girl did not have any shoes, and Angelina says her feet were scarred. After talking for a few minutes, Angelina gave the girl her own shoes. Angelina said she asked the little girl what her dream was, and the girl responded that she wanted to be a doctor. Angelina told her to “never give up.” In return, the girl told Angelina she would pray for her, and asked her to “remember me. Sir, Angelina Jordan (AJ) begann singing at the age of 18 months, there is a video. Discovering grandma´s jazz collection at 2 years, she insisted and succeeded at age 4 to enter studies at the academy of music and performing arts, Oslo, since 2019 she does that in LA, later on she went to school at the Waldorf School Oslo besides the academy (special after school program), helped raise her little sister Juliette and so on. At age 7 she was allowed into Norway Got Talent in 2014 and won the competition as the youngest ever. The videos of this show went viral and she was known and adored in Scandinavia and Asia. A Month after NGT, she sang at an open air festival near Sweden. As some norwegians told me and other commenters,shortly after the festival, AJ was declared "The National Treasure of Norway" by the people, the government and the royal family of Norway. It´s like beeing ennobled in UK. Every musician working with her felt honored. Not only was she a treasure, she is a genius in more than music. I can say this today with certainty, she is a highly intelligent and gifted human beeing with a big, big heart. You, sir, stay safe and sound, greetings from Southern Germany. My respect.

1. An important thing to remember about AJ is that she owns the rights to everything she sings and with aquired permissions for covers of other singers. 2. She refused to sign for a record deal through AGT and they relented and invited her to sing anyway. 3. She began singing at 18 months and due to her grandmothers influence, she was drawn to and fell in love with jazz and blues music. 4. She has been arranging most, if not all of her music performances since she was 8 years old. 5. Currently in 2022 she still performs barefoot, sews her own clothes, (the cloth is designed by her grandmother) and she stands 6 feet tall at 15 yeats old! 6.
