The memes about people who are judged for loving reading hit me hard. That was my life way back when I was in high school. I'd read all the time and my friends would get angry at me and tell me to be more social (I had horrible friends), but I enjoyed my books way too much. So I got new friends who liked me for who I was.

I would suggest Green Mile by Stephen King. You can read it as a whole, but it's nicely divided into like 7 smaller stories that make reading it so much more easier, came in handy for AR points. Also, my mom used to tell me I wasn't allowed to buy any more books until I read all the ones I had. I don't listen!
