When I was living in Japan I noticed that a lot of women don't wash their hands either. Personally, I carried hand sanitizer with me because many bathrooms there didn't have soap or hot water. Also, some advice, carry a small hand towel, as there are almost never paper towels, and only sometimes air hand dryers.
