The story I read was that Anri "Yolandi Visser" du Toit, and Watkin Tudor "Ninja" Jones were in other groups together before discovering a particular American ex-pat visual artist living in South Africa. Forget his name right now but they were so affected/inspired by his unique aesthetic that they formed Die Antwoord ("The Answer") around it. I think this video was their first and was designed and created by this artist (or with his direction).
the Rats are Yolandi's personal pets. Did you notice Flea? 16 is painted several places in the video, Sixteen is Yolandi and Ninja's daughter. There are so many easter-eggs and hidden things in this video.
I don't see Flee in this one, he Is in Ugly Boy along with other celebs. Maybe Flee has a slight resemblance to S.African street urchin & gang members, but his front teeth are intact lkke most trumpet players prefer

Hey guys! New subscriber here. I'm an old school metal head but man, you got to love Die Antwoord. I've been listening to electronic music since de 90´s. To me they are heavily influenced by Aphex Twin (their song Ugly Boy is constructed over a beat of a Aphex´ classic "Ageispolis") And also influenced by The Prodigy. Aesthetics play an important part of their music which I think is what draws the metalhead attention in the first place. Hope to see more from them in the channel. Best from Chile
