Reacting to DPR IAN for the FIRST TIME! 

*'So Beautiful'* The intro: “Before I change again (before he switches to Mito again) Remind me of the times when I still remembered. (Talking about the memory gaps. How once he comes back to the body he needs to figure out all that was said and done by Mito) The black and white scenes are all Mito. It was the first time that he switched on camera. Ian had a black out and when he came back he asked "When are the cameras going to start rolling?" and the camera operator answered "We have already done 3 takes of it". Ian has no recollection of filming these scenes. He said it was hard to edit these scenes and see Mito for the first time. There were some scenes that he couldn't leave in. The MV feels like a werewolf transformation. 'Wolves' are mentioned a lot in this lyrics, they are a huge symbolism for him because of the werewolf transformation aspect that represents his DID switches. In his instagram he puts an emoticon of a full moon, black moon, or half, on his bio to inform fans about his state of mind at the moment. If it's Mr Insanity, Mito or Ian 'fronting' the most. He also deactivates his instagram if he feels that Ian is going to be completely gone from the body in order to avoid his alters posting something compromising. Also, he said when he's manic he has a lot of auditory hallucination of whistles, that's probably why they are incorporated in some of his songs, like this one and 'Don't Go Insane'. *'Nerves'* This song is clearly about heartbreak and the lyrics are self explanatory but notice here how he talks in third person a few times throughout the song and at the end he says “I loved you, he loved you” and it cuts to a black and white scene with him with only one eye, so Mito. Implying that they both her but it’s unclear who she loved. *'No Blueberries'* Ian said that this song is about people you don't associate yourself with. That you're not very familiar with and no matter what you do you just can't connect with them. He associated that with blueberries. One of the lyrics also says "Welcome To The Other Side" alluding to the story. Now we get to the Dear Insanity EP and we get to take about another alter: Mr Insanity. This album is all about how Mr Insanity came to be and his journey into 'The Other Side'. The MVs for this album era are all connected. He released the videos in reverse, except for Peanut Butter & Tears. Storyline wise it is: Peanut Butter & Tears ==> Don't Go Insane ==> Don't Go Insane teaser ==> So I Danced *'Peanut Butter & Tears'* Ian said that since childhood he usually lucid dreams and in these dreams there are a lot of doors. Going through the wrong door would turn it into a nightmare. In this song Ian starts lucid dreaming and wandering through these 'doors'. The first door that he enters he is met by a whole new world he never knew that existed: ‘The Other Side’. The only way to go into The Other Side (his consciousness) is through lucid dreaming. He tries to understand where he's at until he realizes he can't leave or he doesn't know how to get back. Essentially the longer he stays lucid dreaming, the longer he ventures into this world, he starts to lose the grip of reality, he goes manic and turns into Mr Insanity. This video is he beginning stages of Mr Insanity, his manic highs. He is represented in MVs by wearing colorful attire, clowny make up and butterfly is his symbol. Since in mania someone with bipolar gets extremely high and reckless, Mr Insanity is usually chaotic and thinks he's unstoppable. The green asteroid seen on the video at the beginning was a huge part of his dreams when he was a child. While wandering through these doors, somewhere down this mind, Ian/Mr Insanity goes through another door and comes across his youth or memories unlocking his youth, one of them being "Peanut Butter & Jelly". However when he comes across it this time it’s "Peanut Butter & Tears'. It’s a ‘sad freak show’. This song is about the childhood trauma behind the door (represented here by a visit to the dentist), how it shapes you and losing the joy in life as the years go by. But he also said that there's still joy in life even after you’ve grown up. You just need to know where to look for it. In the next chapters of the story there's a specific door that Mr Insanity's chaotic self is trying to open which represents the traumas. Mito being the protector won't let this happen since Ian isn't supposed to know anything about it. *'Don't Go Insane'* At the beginning of the video, Ian is sitting at the desk writing a letter for his future self, Mr Insanity. While Ian is sitting, there's also a howl and he mentions 'wolves' at the lyrics ("Oh, bless my heart / When the wolves take me away"). Remember about the werewolf aspect I mentioned earlier. At this point, after 'Peanut Butter & Tears', Mr Insanity was already born but he isn't his highest version yet. In ‘Don’t Go Insane’ we see Mr Insanity develop. We see his journey venturing into "The Other Side" as he slowly turns into madness going after the key that unlocks another door/trauma During this journey Mr Insanity is met by pink villagers which are essentially Mito's minions trying to stop him (notice how they only have one eye like Mito) and Mito is represented by the black smoke. Mr Insanity repeatedly says to himself "I'm sane" and even so still loses grip on reality. 'Don't Go Insane', as the title suggests, is about trying to not go insane while simultaneously still losing your mind. Ian said in the story the most advanced version of Mr Insanity, when he succumbs to madness, is completely blind because he no longer needs to see since the universe is within himself. He has fallen to 'The Other Side'. In my interpretation this is probably why at the end of the song right before the bridge he says "Can't see...". About The Green guy, It isn't known yet his role in all that, just that he is Mr Insanity's sidekick. *'So I Danced'* Mr Insanity (the blonde Joker looking one), together with The Green, plans a heist to steal the key from the "Bank of the Other Side" which is located at the Emerald City. The name is inspired by the Wizard of Oz, a big reference for him since childhood and he actually visited his version of the 'Emerald City" in one of his dreams. However the guardian/mayor of the city is Mito himself and then the battle between Mito and Mr Insanity unfolds. It is unclear who won. Hopefully with this you could understand everything better! I recommend for you to watch the Miito Movie (Seraph+1Shot+Mood+Ribbon), it's a medley of 4 songs with incredible cinematography, Limbo (the intro for another character called The Hybrid. He's going to release an EP focused on The Hybrid in 1-2 months) and 'Skins Demo', I'll give you context for this last one since with him context is everything: It contains Mito's thoughts about holding their traumas for so long. It's basically a letter from Mito to Ian. Ian came back after a 2-day black out and found the song written and produced, the video already done all by Mito. It is the first time that Ian allowed himself to show to the world Mito's true feelings and not just how Mito is through Ian's eyes: usually shown as a dark almost mythical/villainous figure that Ian repels and can't accept that he's a part of himself. This is probably because in DID protectors (Mito) can also punish the hosts (Ian). In real life Ian until now doesn't know what trauma is the root of his DID, only Mito does. Mito in order to protect Ian usually punishes him if he ever goes looking to know what is this trauma. 'Skins' in a way feels like the humanization of a "villain" by giving him a voice. Ian choosing to release a 100% Mito creation instead of burying it was an important step towards their relationship and acceptance as a whole system. Don't know if you're aware but besides writing and producing his songs he also directs and edits his own videos. Also plays bass, keyboard and the drums plus he dances as you can see. The man can do anything lol And I think it was funny how you said how it feels like there's two people singing. I know you didn't mean like that but so fitting! Mito also can hit an octave that Ian can't.

I forgot to mention that his voice may seem different because of did as well. He once said that he's insecure about his own vocals compared to Mito. According to Ian he can't hit the higher notes that Mito can do easily
