The character was treated horribly by the writers, and the actress was treated horribly by the writers. She suffered the most because of her "friends'" selfishness. Caroline became as important as Elena after season 1 and was treated like royalty. Bonnie was an after thought who came in to just clean up their messes. This comment has red flags written all over it. Bonnie deserved the world, and Kat Graham deserved better show runners who did not project their problematic microaggressions all over her.

@@samnabawy2731 I know the actor was treated badly but that shouldn't affect my opinion on the character she portrayed. You need to read my comment with comprehension. You need to be able to criticize the character as a whole and not nitpick the character because she is your favourite. Am I not allowed to have my opinion because I don't see you coming for other peoples throats because they ship Delena when everything their relationship stands for is promoting toxicity to younger kids who watch it thinking "this is true love". The actor herself I also don't like as I said above if you read the comment properly that she tries to much with Ian and Paul that it is giving pick me. In the one interview she is holding Paul's hand and as he tries to move it away as they go to answer their questions she keeps grabbing it saying "I don't know how to act without holding his hands" and you can see how uncomfortable he is. Stop trying to paint me as a racist because she is black and I dislike her. You wonder why she didn't become as important as Elena and Caroline but what more could they have done. Her plot line was going nowhere. She is better in the books but I wonder if you would have such strong opinions if it was a white person? I am looking at Bonnie and Kat as people and who they are, not because they are black and I feel the need to stand up for her because she is black.

@@lievjacobs6672 I actually criticized Delena multiple times on multiple videos on this channel, including on this comment section, if you care to scroll down. Honestly, most characters are written horribly on this show except for maybe Stefan, he's the only character with a true redemption arc. Damon gets rewarded with Elena for being horrible just because fangirls found him cute. Kat always came off to me like a lovely and bubbly person who is trapped making the most out of a character that is written by two women who clearly don't know how to write a good black character. Most of the black characters were treated horribly. Racism also plays an important role in my evaluation because it exists, even if you "don't want to see color". The way the writers treated Kat Graham and her character screams racism. This includes Julie Plec's horrible take on black women in one of her tweets. I didn't call you a racist. I just feel like you might be missing some important context when it comes to judging minority characters written horribly by white writers who clearly harbor some microaggressions. I will always respect Ian for standing up for Kat. Of course, Kat needing Ian to protect her from bigoted writers is another problem on to its own. As a character, I find Bonnie to be a tragic character who was treated horribly by her so-called friends, used and abused to no end. They only cared about what she can do for them. Which is why I'm very sympathetic towards her. In a way, and I'm sure accidently, the way Bonnie was written sheds light on tokenism of characters of color and how they are written to be a means to an end for the more important white characters.
