LOVE LOVE this song. Especially when I'm getting ready to go out! Ha! Bummer News but YT has switched up the rules making it VERY difficult to do reaction videos. Right now I have 2 in copyright jail for up to 30 days. Completely blocked If anyone has any suggestions on anything else you want to see while we endure to freakin' jail sentences would be appreciated
How 'bout "This Big Hush" by Shriekback? That was featured in the 1986 movie _Manhunter_ , which in turn was based on the novel _Red Dragon_ , the very first book to feature Hannibal Lector. ( _Silence of the Lambs_ was the sequel.)
I'm sure yours will be released from jail in no time. None of yours denigrate the music or the artist, you are nothing but positive of the music that you enjoy. As a stop-gap, maybe some snapshot vids of you giving insight into your favourites and why.
Alternatives to music videos.......? How about these keeping Gen-X on theme? How about talking about some of your favourite live music memories? Where and when, bscking bands, what was great, what went wrong, "what you never told your parents really happened! ". If you dare? 😳 I can't think of a better subject to set fire to the comments section! Or favourite television from the 70's, 80's and 90's? Your own and recommendations?
I was so confused about this song growing up. I didn't know if it was really a lady singing or what on Earth the lyrics were about---but it was beautiful, and there was just no info about her at that time pre-internet. Of course, I first heard it in "The Silence of the Lambs."
Great to see you back! Wow, yeah, this song does indeed jog my memory. My recollection of it does mostly come from the movie. What an eerie scene it was! And you hit the nail on the head. Her voice is so very deep and memorizing. So sad she's no longer with us. Those high-toned keyboard notes also really help to set the mood of the song. On the subject of your videos being blocked, I've seen other reactors miniaturize their videos on the screen in sort of a picture-n-picture like format, while sometimes even adding a light overlay to the video content. I assume this is all done to give the impression that the reaction itself is more the focus rather than the music video. Not sure whether this format entirely alleviates blocking, but it does seem like a lot of folks are using this approach lately. I can totally empathize with you though. It does seem like such a royal pain. I do hope you're able to find ways around these pesky restrictions.
There's definitely a different vibe about this performance. Not entirely my cuppa tea, but I can hear a naturalness in the vocal, rather like Tracy Chapman has, which deserved a wider audience. She does appear to have had a musical career for a number of years, her 'Candle Goes Away' making an earlier film soundtrack. With a film of her life due out this year, maybe her back catalogue will be resurrected (and so cue the entire group name!).
Ooooh, what a nice pick for a reaction video. I know this song, from swirly dancing to it when the DJ plays it, but never knew who the artist was. I watched Silence of the Lambs once, but so long ago that I don't remember this song being a big part of it but I guess it was. Classic dancefloor song at least for me. Now I really want to add this to my CD collection but the price of the single on the second hand market looks really high! Need another re-release to come out.
Update...song is on the Married to the Mob movie soundtrack, so I ordered a used copy. A lot of my CD collecting lately has been about getting music from the past that I really enjoyed but didn't get back in the day. Thanks for bringing this song back to my attention...my wallet is now $17 lighter!
I just watched your Motley Crue videos and you love them much as I do, I was born in 73 so I was 16 when Dr. Feelgood came out been a fan every since.MTV helped also, lol.
Yes! So true, it's better to have lived it or get the info from someone who had the inside scoops. Vs. A kid who knows all the lyrics to a cure song because he memorized the Google information, but he never heard the real song.
Hiya Cat, your dancing is great, my dancing days are long gone, I watched myself on cam corder about 25 years ago, and what an embarrassment, so no more dancing for Choppy, I haven't heard this song yet but as soon as I get home I'll watch the video and listen to the song then, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
No doubt a cult classic. Didn't realize that it was recorded in 1987, 4 years before The Silence of the Lambs was released. I have this tune on my 80's new wave/synth pop playlist.
Hard to know what is going to get blocked and whats not - New Order & Joy Division seem to be good to go, I've seen a lot of Kylie Minogue reactions so she appears good. If you look at other reaction channels you might see artists and tracks that interest you that have been posted recently.
