r Mb I am really happy for you. Just remember the band members were 20 or younger, so you can see their brilliance. Glad you have now been ZEPPED, welcome to the family.
@@hermask815 Absolutely no decline in my hearing whatsoever. The same as when I was 18. Recently tested: as sharp as ever. Vision is another story. Decrease in vision causes more reliance on hearing, thereby enhancing it. When in the woods, I hear the slightest sound(because I have to). I hear the sound immediately but it takes a few seconds to focus with my eyes. A reduction in one sense will often result in the enhancing of another.
Yes, one of the most sensational songs of all time, Jimmy Page and his unbelievable guitar slides, Robert Plant and his pure rock n roll vocals, John Bonham and his overwhelming drums, and John Paul Jones with his unmistakable bass, listen Led Zeppelin II the entire album, simply the best album of 1969. I love your reactions, have a great day.
Yep, the 1st time I heard this I was like 12 yrs old (1976), lol. I heard it when my sister's boyfriend picked us up at the public pool. His had a suped up chevy nomad with an 8 track tape of Led Zeppelin 1 & 2, lol.
@@InsaneBlondie Dear Miss Blondie, I was 16 in 1972. I wish you had a poetry forum where I could share some of mine. Big hugs and all the best to you ❣️
The middle part of the song , Jimmy Page uses a Theramin to create those kinda lightning striking . The Theramin is a sound box with an antenna on it , the user waves his hand back & forth to create sounds Which can be adjusted to your liking. Another song the Theramin was used in rock was by the Beach Boys > Good Vibrations Jimmy also toyed with sounds going back & forth from left to right side. This wasn't possible until late 60's When stereos were made with 2 speakers, left & right . Before only 1 speaker > mono
that weirdness that you heard was Jimmy Pages theremin solo, it's an instrument that you play without physical contact and produces strange sounds, they where commonly used in 1950's sci-fi movies
I love the way your expressions change with the guitar, bass, then vocal and drum progressions. That is PRICELESS!!! You've received your first lesson on how to "Get The Led Out'!!!
Glad to see you are able to experience Led Zeppelin with a good set of headphones. The way the songs were mixed, you either need headphones or a really good sound system with multiple speakers. I think you could do a complete series just on Led Zeppelin. Their music evolved over their short careers. They went from hard blues, to hard rock, to some funk, and even a reggae influences. They actually started their on genre of music, which is hard to label. I think as you continue through their albums, you will see what I mean. It is just easy to recognize a Zeppelin song once you listen to enough of them, even the songs that are completely different from their early work. I love all of their albums, but I seem to enjoy Physical Graffiti the best now. Starting with a slightly naughty Custard Pie to a spiritual Kashmir to a funkadelic rock The Wanton Song, it is a great album. It is great to see someone reacting for the first time to such amazing songs of my youth. Enjoy the ride!
OMG I love watching your reactions to these songs that I know so well for so long. Decades ago when I was a teen, I used to lay on the floor in my bedroom with one speaker on either side of me head, cranked up loud!
The expression on the faces of the young people who hear Led Zeppelin for the first time on these RU-vid riffs show that they all look and feel the same way I did when I first heard.Led Zep. That was decades ago. Everyone I knew felt the same way that I did. The band is at the peak of the music mountain that bolts up to infinity. Led Zepplin is out gift.
LZ's first real commercial hit, off their 2nd album, I believe...It was all over the radio back then...I remember driving with my grandfather. I switched his car radio to FM, and this came on..He said, "What the hell is this?!"..."Is he falling down an elevator shaft?!"...Lol!..Some things just stick in your head, even 50 yrs. later!
Led Zeppelin were groundbreaking and game changing where they first came out, back in the day there were girls around your age tearing their hair out and screaming listening to this song. ;D
@@MarkRoberts-bj2me It's called what effects one adds at the time of production. The balance between the speakers is called the pan, and is set to center by default, an equal balance between left and right. The pan can be adjusted to the left or right side on both mono and stereo tracks within the track controls. Since stereo tracks have a channel for each side, however, they have the unique ability to create an effect called panning, which is basically audio moving back and forth between the left and right side to create the illusion of 3D space. (in layman terms Stereo EFFECT, or LP having 2 wavelength tracks) FYI, Jimmy Page is and always was the producer of ALL Led Zeppelin albums even when they recorded at the Atlantic label. PS I'm not your son, ya hear that, boy ?
@@dannyboy366 This cat's original post stands. You merely relate parts of the "production" process which is a total waste of your time since apparently you are attempting to either educate me, which is wholly unnecessary, or an attempt on your part to retract your silly OP by attempting to show your "expertise". The usage of "son" was of the British sense of the word. My, you Yanks are so pissy!
Yep original term used before panning. I didn't need headphones with my "StereoPhonic" record player to get the panning effect out of the two speakers I had on either side of my room.
Okay, so a little history, this song was released in 1969, at that point, stereo records had only just started to become mainstream, though stereo had been around for years, as with most tech systems there were competing technologies that had to fight it out and also cost, even in 1969 stereo records cost more than mono. If you look at the music from this time frame you will see a lot of bands experimenting with stereos capabilities, hence the sound fading in and out of each of your earphones. Interesting times for sure.
I remember when my brother brought this album home in Oct 1969 this song mesmerized me, John Paul Jones Bass was like nothing I'd ever heard. We knew about Led Zepplin cause we jammed on their 1st album they released earlier in '69, but I thought this album was better because of this song. Good memories.
You mustn't forget that most of these 60s-70s rock supergroups were all off their heads on LSD trips, it's amazing how they still managed to make such great music!
@@DurockmansFavToons 🤣 There is a difference. the best speakers and sound system can only make you feel like you're in the music the best pair of headphones can make the music feel like it's inside your head
I listened to this fifty years ago while I was reading a science fiction book of Ira Levin. Every time I hear this long play record I think of it. This fits with the mad times we are going through and science fiction is not science fiction anymore. Led Zeppelin for ever
There are plenty more Led Zeppelin songs that were great to choose from you may not have heard yet. Like "Dazed and Confused", "Ramble On", "When The Levee Breaks", "No Quarter", etc.
Love Led Zeppelin. I saw Pink Floyd three times in concert , 70s, 80s , & 90s , what you heard in the head phones they did live. they had thier speakers high up in four places in the arena & for some songs the sound traveled from one side of the building to the other & back & then did the same from the other speakers. Awesome sound.
as a new zeppelin fan, i recommend sitting you ass down with a few bowls or a case of beer and listening to every album. It will change your whole world
@@m.gideonhoyle409 It wasn't well received. People were expecting a follow up similar to II. I thought well, this isn't what I was expecting. I used to see it in the bins for half price years ago.
Her facial expressions on this song it's just so obvious what she's making the facial expressions to I love watching younger generation enjoy the older music and she is reminding me literally how great this song really is
Whole Lotta Love is my favorite song. A simple song, but full of variations, that is, do not tire when listening! Blondie, follow the good ones, follow Led Zeppelin that the consequences are the best .. laughs.. Kisses in your heart!
BTW, if your going to stay with this era, you really have to listen to this one, just make sure you turn the volume up as high as it will go for the start, Joe will know it for sure, probably the most iconic guitar hook ever : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TngViNw2pOo.html
What’s reaction! This is a must song to listen to with the headphones on. Pretty much all of Led Zeppelin songs require headphones to really get the full effect of what Jimmy page did in the studio with the right and the left and the over arching sounds that they threw at each side to headphone. I said it before I’ll say it again, dazed and confused off of their first album is what you should listen to next. Do you want to talk about amazing and you want to talk about hearing and loud that is the song that you have to listen to. Keep them coming girl
Ok this is going to date me big time.I was 4 years old 1969-1970ish I woke up to go to potty.Walking out to the living room at 1 am the tv was on.No shows aired at this time.Just an Indian chief emblem on the tv and the local radio station.Whole Lotta Love was playing and I was mesmerized. That song may had well come out of an alien space ship it was so out of this world.
Back in the 1970's the song did not always get airplay because of implied sexual content. It was a very different in the days of my youth. With respect to you always 💯🙏 Miss Blondie from Brant Heavner 😊 Hugs
@@InsaneBlondie I've just sent you a link on your Stairway to Heaven reaction. It's also here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hoOGk2HA-Fg.html
John Bonham - the first- and last (as far as I can tell)- drummer who contributed thematically as the percussion in a rock song. Not just a fill-in, here or there, but his drums are actually a part of the theme's development. That's real musicianship.
@@koolkidklub4427 1958 sunburst Les Paul Standard used on whole lotta love its because of those songs like this that people like slash turned to the Les Paul
What a refreshing concept! A beautiful young lady with an analytical musical mind of someone at least 20 years her senior. I just hope that with her insight, common sense and in musical mind she persues a career in this field. Oh, and by the way. I saw them do this live in 1969 in Roanoke, Va. [Age check.] lol 70 yo and still get a rush every time I hear it.
The cut-down version (without the breakdown in the middle) was infamously released as a single in America against the band's wishes. Altogether I think you could describe it as a psychedelic sex song and the anthem they initially finished every concert with.
Even better when you see them live which I have done twice. Think it was originally recorded back in early 1970 and pleased to say saw them perform it in the same year when it was still really fresh. Great times
The main part of this was recorded in New York on the 8th August 1969 my 16th birthday. Meanwhile in London the same day the Beatles walked across Abbey road zebra crossing !!!
You're too adorable. 😊 I love seeing younger people listening to the music that we grew up on, which actually came from our parents' generation. This is from 1969, so many of us were just babies when this came out. Mom and dad played this around the house, we heard it as kids, we got into it, and it just carried over into our own lives. We then raised our own kids/their grandkids on it. My son is 24 and was raised on 1960s and 1970s classic rock. It's timeless, still acquiring new, young listeners every day.
Love your reactions to these songs,I was 16 when that album was released, just imagine, waiting patiently to see what the next new single was going to be so you could rush to your nearest record store and by the single on vynil for 6 shillings and 9 pence ( 6/9 ) which in today's money is approximately 34p, there are so many singles released every day nowadays you don't get to seperate the good from the bad, back in the 60's very few were released each week so it was a joy when your favourite bands eventually did, keep them coming it's wonderful to see someone so young get excited over classic 60's and 70's music, try Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Steppenwolf,Free, Foreigner, Van Halen, and slightly later White Snake, there are loads that I know you will love,I can see you enjoy good music, thanks again for making a 66 year old Rocker happy 😎👍
I might be out of order, but do you mean a Led Z single of this? It was only released in America as an edited track. It was a single in the UK in the 90's.
