That’s honestly so crazy. Duncan is one of the greatest players of all time and we often forget about how dominant he was

While this is true, Duncan also missed two layups with a chance to tie game 7 with 50 seconds left while being guarded by Shane Battier who was 4 inches shorter than him.

@Splackavellie85
@Splackavellie85 3 года назад
@@louisrosenberg8042 Sure. But his defense had nothing to do with Duncan blowing the layups. Duncan got the rebound after his first miss and just had to tip the ball in, something he was better at than pretty much anyone in the NBA. And Pop took Duncan out of the lineup, which made it possible for Bosh to grab the rebound and pass it to Allen for the three. Bosh wouldn’t have gotten that rebound with Timmy on the court.

If Tim hadn't been injured in 2000, I believe the spurs would have beaten them again for the repeat. Kobe and Shaq were at the breaking point, and that would have resulted in one of them being traded (probably Kobe at that time). Would have changed EVERYTHING. How many titles would Tim have? But it didn't happen... interesting to think about.

I just wanna say one thing that couldnt be more wrong about this video. He said Parker and Ginobili are longshots for the Hall of Fame, and that is the only thing I have heard this guy say thats just flat out stupid. Parker and ESPECIALLY Ginobili are locks for the hall and were multiple years before they retired. He was just trying to downplay the amount of help Duncan had.

This video went overboard in arguing for Tim by diminishing Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker; unjustly so. Manu from 2005-2008 was an all nba caliber player every season, and in discussion as one of the 15 or 10 best players in the game. He wasn't getting that much adulation, but most people hated or didn't care about the Spurs. They turned the Finals off when they were in it. I think Manu did crack into the top 10 player finally in 07-08. He was injured the 2008 playoffs and never reached that same level again, missing a lot lot of 2009, but bounced back in 09-10 and 10-11 with 2 more fringe all nba level seasons. Tony was never as good as Manu, but still had multiple all star level seasons where he was one of the top ~20 or so players in the league, and 08-09 12-13 he got close to top 10 as well. Tony was an all star caliber player from 05/06-08/09 and 10/11-13/14. It doesn't reflect bad on Tim that he had 2 all star level teammates from 2006-2008. Manu even led the league in adjusted plus minus a couple times from 05-08. Tim's teams were frankly loaded from 2005-2007, and 2012-2016. Tim's best seasons are from 97-07 though. Those seasons are 80-90% of why he is a top 10 player of all time. His best 2 seasons, 2002 and 2003, were 2 of the worst teams he ever had. It's just lazy to try to downplay Tony and Manu to talk up Tim. Tim Duncan is still a top 10 player all time. I don't think he has a real case as the best player ever, but neither does Kobe/Bird/Magic/Wilt/KG/Shaq/Hakeem in my opinion.

The reason for comparison with shaq is because the lakers on spurs were often the best teams in the west and they would have to through each other to get to the finals. For him to say with shaq it was more aesthetic and about seeing a big guy move like him, I disagree. Sure that’s part of it but the way shaq had the strength to just bully other big men in the post was just crazy. Teams had to really strategize how to keep their big men from fouling out or just getting dunked on all game. Duncan is a complete opposite, he was good at everything but not necessarily the best at any particular thing. Maybe help defense IQ but nothing obvious.

That's some bullshit. Parker is an elite point guard that would do well in any franchise and Ginobili could have had way higher stats on any other team. If anything, he sacrificed a lot by playing on the bench and being on the Spurs. The Spurs is like the antithesis of the Nash Suns and the "stars" of today with padded stats due to the fast pace.

Well as a Spurs fan in my opinion Tim is the greatest power forward ever. And in my opinion he is the greatest player to ever play and that is because this video also explains it very well. Especially the last couple of years before Tim retired every year for that matter In the offseason everyone would say the Spurs are done they don’t have it anymore they are to old blah blah and the Spurs would prove the doubters wrong. People also say that he had a lot of help but another thing is that the Spurs always had a good bench and roll players to take the load off, we always had depth. He even said that at Tim’s second act he underperformed but was still consistent and it was because tony and manu took off the load that Tim has carried for decades. I could go on but Tim definitely is the greatest and if you say he isn’t even top 5 or the top 10 all time then you don’t appreciate true basketball or true greatness and that further explains why he deserves the goat status...

Who was the person setting solid screens allowing Parker, Ginobili, Kawhi, to wreak havoc and forcing defensive switches? That would be Duncan.
