This comment may sound "controversial" but I just needed to share this. Tim Duncan was and still is my all time favorite player. As great as Allen Iverson was and iconic, Tim was the first player in my generation that I truly identified with as a "black lame" in a good way. As a black male from Oakland growing up in the late 90's, I didn't have any "street cred". I was seen by my black peers as a "square" or "lame" because I didn't conform to what most of black America saw as cool. Tim Duncan gave me, just like AI did to others, the confidence to just be myself.

I, for one, welcome our new 2G dredded Overlord.

I was jumping up and down on my bed when the Spurs drew the #1 pick, knowing we would draft Tim. My future wife and I were in the crowd of people greeting Tim at Alamo Plaza when he first arrived to San Antonio. This is the most I have ever heard him speak about himself.

Thank you Tim Duncan for spoiling me all of my youth , I was born in 99 in San Antonio, so my whole life I was spoiled witnessing a legendary franchise

I have been a Spurs fan since I was a young kid and watching Timmy get drafted by the Spurs and then go on to winning rookie of the year. In May of 99 my wife just had our first son and then Timmy and the Spurs go on to win our first championship was a year that I will never forget. My sons first word after mommy and daddy was Tim Duncan and then for me to go on and have 3 more kids all in April of 03,07 and 2014 was just unreal for me to experience father hood and Spurs championships in those same years was the best years any man could ask for. Timmy you are my favorite athlete of all time for not only what you did on the court by how you handled your self off the court too. A true role model in every way possible. Thank you sir and GO SPURS GO

The class of Tim Duncan , Kobe, dirk, a.I, ray Allen etc... is what the attitude era was in WWF is what they are to the nba. So many colorful personalities and they were ultra competitors , hearing Duncan say he didn’t speak much with Kobe or dirk off the court is crazy because they were all trying to be the greatest.

Raja and Logan from the Ringer need to be credited for the most in-depth interview of Tim Duncan I have ever seen. They did a wonderful job of allowing Tim to be Tim while still asking insightful questions that forced Tim out of the generic answer mode. Tim Duncan is a representative of my generation and is around my age. I was a HUGE fan of his game and preferred him over Kobe because of his impact on both sides of the floor. Quite frankly, the only miss that I would have like to hear more about is how did Tim develop his bank shot game? For huge Duncan fans, one always noticed that many of Tim's outside shot game were a unusually high usage of the glass. One would have to go back to the 60's or earlier to see post players use the glass as much as Tim did during his career to make shots. Unlike most if not all post players in today's NBA, there are very few people that had Tim's mid-range game. Those that did; no one used the glass as much as Tim Duncan. That was the only miss, but the depth and breadth of the questions showed near flawless preparation. I was mortally shocked that Tim did this podcast because these type of interviews were not his bag. To be honest, as much as Tim's has been showed with accolades, he still does not get enough credit in his era. He was the best power forward in any generation and in my opinion, the most valuable player on both ends of the court(sorry Kobe and Shaq) during his era.

Man...i hope Duncan does more podcasts. So many questions I'd like to hear him asked. But definitely this was a nice get since he rarely does this kind of stuff.

Classic tim duncan moment. I was delivering at a CVS in downtown San Antonio who pulls up in the parking but Tim. Its like 32° and raining and hes wear shorts and sandals like a gangsta. I would have talked to him but he was with his daughter so i left him alone.

20 years of watching this man win, lose, get back up and win again and again and this is the longest I heard him speak.

I had the pleasure to know Tim personally at Wake Forest. I first met him in his first semester on campus. I won't tell personal stories on here other than that he's a great guy and way misunderstood. Hes not shy and he's super funny with a great sense of humor. Quirky personality. I will talk about his basketball skill when he arrived at Wake Forest. His first few games at Wake as a freshman he was horrible. But he was a natural rebounder from the beginning. He just had a nose for where the ball would be and had great hands and footwork. The other teams didn't even guard him he was so bad offensively. Tim used to catch the ball in the post back to the basket and not even try to score, often not realizing he was wide open. The crowd would yell shoot and kind of all laugh. None of us watching could have imagined the player he would become. Tim probably didn't foresee it either. By the end of his freshman year though he was a solid double double player but more of a defender than offensive threat. I can say that during Tim's time at Wake Forest, he never changed personally and I've heard from other friends still in contact with him that hes still the same guy also to this day. He deserves all the success he's achieved.

My Mom was a greeter working at the Westin Riverwalk where Coach Pop was fond of having dinner with his coaches, the opposing coaches and catching up with his friends around the league when they came to visit. It's also the spot the visiting teams stayed in. She always told me how respectful Pop and the Spurs players were each time they came in. Always personable, never acted as if they were above everyone else there (even though they were gods in the early 2000s) .

Grew up watching the Spurs, and being from the Valley, San Antonio was closest to us, so it was all Spurs love. Man, that type of basketball isn't around anymore. Loved the Spurs run during my younger years, and always wanted to be like Manu lol. This is a great interview guys.

I didn’t snitch him out or anything, like hey Raja Bell is over and we’re playing against him tomorrow ! I gave that dude 5 Star service just like anybody else and he gave me a lousy 10% tip. When I go to work, I work, not much talking, but a lot f fast productivity, usually don't take breaks, i run 8 miles a day to work for a job I can't stand. Today, its, raining/snowing. I can't get a ride because I'm all alone. So thank you for this pis cast because it makes my day, I was getting all sad and depressed until I saw Timmy. Now, I can run those miles in the ❄️, I just needed a little motivation and to not feel sorry for myself because I know I have a unique gift or problem.
